And what is great about the drama is not just the bromance but there is actually meat to the story....to see how…
Yeah it's definitely not incorrect to call it bromance, it's promoted as a bromance rather than a romance, so you're not wrong at all. I don't see why others care about this.
Ok, the wording...there's some that should be unpack here. Firstly, the story of the novel in which this drama…
Honestly, feel free to call it bromance? I don't see what's so wrong with it. The relationship is made for the viewer's preference: "if they want to see something more, they can. if they want to see strong friendship, they can." It's definitely not a wrong term for this drama.
Your question is valid, I hope you got the answer you're looking for. I feel like the strong plot got buried to an extent, but I definitely recommend this as the story is not dependent on it at all.
Mmmm I don t know if watch it or not. This high rating is because of the bromance only? Or the story is good itself…
Try to hold on till episode 16 if you do watch, it's when the real plot goes into action. I was shocked because the plot was not what I expected from the first 10 eps, there was so much foreshadowing but you only catch it once you rewatch. You won't understand anything in the first two episodes, for sure, but you'll slowly get it as the episodes go by.
(you can state even the obvious things as i might have missed them but that story is too painful for me to rewatch.…
1) I mean, if you were trying to get revenge that you wanted for years and some person keeps stopping you, you wouldn't exactly be fond of that being. He started to like him (not romantically, the author states) because XXC gave him candy and took care of him.
2) Suicide = no will to live. WWX could only restore the spiritual cognition of ones that were murdered, against their will. The pouch is just a memory or presence of him, it doesn't give any special abilities.
3) He was very much treated like trash since young age and believes there is no good in the world. The candy trauma resonated within him for years.
5) He is. Cultivators don't exactly have to be good, although no one went as far as using corpses as their form of attack. Once WWX started demonic cultivation, he jumped right on. If they have the ability to kill with a sword, they're a cultivator.
5) Fr ): It's extremely sadder in the novel. There's another reason why XXC committed suicide that the drama did not show.
Btw, author states Xue Yang isn't gay (ikr, I was like???). He just saw XXC as an escape from his dark world. The moment he went really close to his face was him checking the air from his nose (breathing).
Alright so I finished the drama and even wrote a review. Here are some of my thoughts5. Ending -- Ah this is where…
The novel answers your questions but you'd be disappointed from Wen Qing's insignificance in the novel. Jiang Cheng doesn't harbor any feelings for her, I don't think he even talked to her. She only first appeared when Jiang Cheng lost his core, never showed up to the Gusu lessons, Xuanwu Cave, etc.
Sameee! I'm definitely leaning more towards c-dramas now. I don't know exactly what it is but there's just something…
China's strength is definitely historical dramas. I used to despise them too and only watched modern romcoms but woah, they're actually super interesting and fresh.
For a Chinese modern romcom, I heard Go Go Squid was pretty good (I haven't watched it so I can't strongly recommend).
How do these actors/actresses and the entire team filming this drama get paid or how much? If dramas are not paid…
I'm no business major so I have to take a wild guess. I might be entirely wrong, feel free to correct me.
The show is sold to a network, Tencent in The Untamed's case. The network invests money, hoping for a profit (which is why more steady/popular movies, like the Avengers, get a big investment). A lot of money goes into making the product, now their goal is to earn more than they spent.
For TV shows, although ratings are nice, they are not the income. Their main cash flow is ad revenue, sponsorship, and product placement (like the mango juice WWX advertisement). Why are ratings and popularity so talked about? The higher the rating, the higher the worth. Businesses would want to partner with the most-watched show for their product's promotion. For broadcast-ed tv shows, more networks would want to partner with them to air the show on their platform (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Viki, etc.)
It's a bit different for The Untamed because it's a web drama. The biggest source of income has to be customer subscriptions to Tencent and WeTV. The Untamed releases 4 episodes early for paying customers and it's very tempting for excited people. Web dramas are honestly less invested on because the income is unclear; people have to click on your drama, sit through the episodes, and be willing to take cash out of their pockets. The risk of deficit results in poor production but, if the story grabs people's attention, you can earn way more than you spent. When Tencent revealed the offer to pay $5-6 to get the last 6 episodes early, paired with the digital album release, they were said to have earned more than $10,000,000 in 24 hours. After the show ended, they are getting money from official merch, dvds, YouTube views, magazine features, music and fan meetings.
Again, these are not facts at all and I can be completely off.
Hi again! I don't know how far you are with the drama so this may kinda be spoiler-ish. We were never directly…
A sword seals itself once the cultivator reaches a very high level of cultivation. It's like the sword recognizing its owner, no one but the owner (or his core) can use that sword. Wei WuXian's sword sealed itself after his many adventures, but Jiang Cheng's did not as his cultivation is lower than WWX; anyone can use Jiang Cheng's sword but only WWX can use Suibian. However, you need to have a golden core to actually use a sword for night-hunting... which is why swords quickly became useless for WWX. So, a cultivator can literally use any sword that's un-sealed.
The song "WangXian" that LWJ hummed to him in the Xuanwu Cave (after defeating the tortoise). This song was made…
No problem! I had a whole epiphany rewatching the first two episodes after episode 33. He even mouthed the word "WangXian" when WWX asked the title of the song in the cave.
Does anyone know how Lan Zhan recognized Wei Ying in his resurrection? Wei Ying asked Lan Zhan but never got the…
The song "WangXian" that LWJ hummed to him in the Xuanwu Cave (after defeating the tortoise). This song was made by Lan Wangji so no one knew it but those two. WWX played it on instinct as a 'gentler tune' while trying to calm down Wen Ning in episode 2.
Unpopular opinion...i just can't seem to like the drama. The GCI is so cheap that it makes me cringe. And whyyy,…
Looking for the Yi City, man-eating ridge, paperxian, and other focuses of the novel? You'll get them after episode 34. Episode 3-33 is them combining all the reoccurring flashbacks of the novel, adding the Yin Metal plot as "something to achieve" to keep the flashback interesting and consistent.
QuJinChenQing, Wei Wuxian's character song... this dude really went through a lot (@ people who haven't watched the drama, don't listen to the character songs --- big spoilers).
Also, how am I supposed to hate Xue Yang when his song makes me tear up?
