holy woah this drama seems really popular. Its the no.1 rated show here on mydramalist :O
It got better as it went on for me, especially if you pay attention to the plot and don't skip/fast forward. Personally, eps 15 onward is when it clicked.
Oh man. Nothing good to watch out there now that Untamed is finished. Let’s do something fun, respond to this…
My favorites are the Lan Wangji drunk scenes and the whole gusu lan lectures (especially library pavilion). Such a fun, happy time that I took for granted.
When it comes to plot, the whole Yi City episode (XY and XXC) was super entertaining and unexpected. The destruction of Lotus Pier and Jin Zixuan's death caught me by shock too.
I haven't seen Guardian so I can't comment on that, but I would say the true plot and story didn't click for me…
Woah you're attentive to notice sfx quality in general, it's normally never talked about. Are you talking about the main character's demonic cultivation? If it is, he can't use his sword anymore so it's the only way to support himself. WWX did spend 3 months practicing this new skill on the mountain, I guess adding a time-lapse of his experience would've been a smoother transition.
I watched the first episode of “The Untamed” and there were a lot of people that were turned into or taken…
Hmmm, no but yes. It's a common occurrence in the world but their appearances are very less insignificant/active than the first episode. The main theme has nothing to do with those monsters though, most of the episodes are emotional rather than physical. I think in episodes 3-17, they appear twice... Why, are you not fond of their appearance?
So can someone explain the critical scene in Episode 31 to me? Did Wei Ying actually have control at the time,…
What actually happened will be revealed in the later episodes. It's a big spoiler so I'll stay silent (I like how the novel handled this particular conflict more though). The polycoria basically implies that WN's killing intent is at the max.
I have a question! At some point Wei Wuxian took a curse from Jin Ling into his body but that never played any…
Hah, you're right :0 In the manhua, they can get rid of the curse mark if they kill/subdue the thing that placed the curse. It never gets mentioned again in the drama but maybe it's related to letting Nie Minjue's resentment free or finding his body/head/sword. I'm only 17 chapters into the novel though, I didn't come across that scene yet.
OMYGSHSKSKSH THATS THE HIGHEST EVER IN HISTORY OF DOUBAN THEY'RE LEGENDS
That, I don't know much about... I can't navigate the site too well. I'm guessing your definition of drama is to have more than 1 episode/not a movie. I put the settings to 'Mainland China' and 'TV Series', the highest one is 大明王朝1566 (Ming Dynasty in 1566) with a 9.7. It's also a costume drama, so this is the answer to both questions. When you also take in the # of rates, Nirvana In Fire (琅琊榜) with a 9.3 is a big contender. It previously held the record for the most rated mainland drama before The Untamed too (I have no idea how credible that information is).
I know little to nothing about these things so I might be SUPER wrong. No problem at all :^)
OMYGSHSKSKSH THATS THE HIGHEST EVER IN HISTORY OF DOUBAN THEY'RE LEGENDS
Yeah, the top rated in Douban is from 1994. It's rated 9.7 with over 1.5 million rates. Called "肖申克的救赎" or "The Shawshank Redemption" (https://movie.douban.com/subject/1292052/)
I haven't seen Guardian so I can't comment on that, but I would say the true plot and story didn't click for me…
In this world, they are all mortals (except for Baoshan Sanren). Mortal beings that formed their golden cores by cultivation. Their main goal is immortality, which can be achieved by cultivating lots.
Each drama can differ in these things. Just because wizards are untouchable in Harry Potter, they don't have to be in Wizards of Waverly Place (does this analogy even work? im so sorry).

2) The song 'Wuji' was played in the Xuanwu Cave exclusively to WWX. Only WWX knows this song so it was a dead giveaway.
