no prob! ive watched 2moons and wasn't a fan because you could easily replace the main character with a girl and little to no changes would occur. together with me (is that what you meant?) is really steamy, so you shouldn't expect that. it's more emotional than physical, in comparison to those two dramas.
uhm... most of them! the drama shows the story of their relationship in cute ways. but ill tell you my favorite ones! it's obvious that the two male leads have something. (spoilers!!!) in ep 6, lan wangji ties his forehead ribbon to wei wuxian. this forehead ribbon is super important, him tying it to him means that he is his lover/significant other.
in ep 13, lan wangji gets jealous of a girl wei wuxian saved. they also had a scene where wei wuxian told him he'd take his clothes off to make lan wangji spit out blood (heres a preview! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yts1_40AmL4)
in ep 24, wei wuxian tells his sister that he likes someone.
in ep 25, lan wangji asks what he is to wei wuxian, he replies "soulmate".
in ep 27, wei wuxian says that if he is to die, he wants to die in lan wangji's arms.
in ep 35, lan wangji is basically wei wuxian's protector from dogs.
(my favorite!!) in ep 36, there's a drunk lan wangji scene that's so cute, he steals roosters for wei wuxian. also, he thought he told wei wuxian that he liked him when he was drunk.
in ep 40, wei wuxian becomes a paperman and blows a kiss to lan wangji. he also tells someone that he fell in love with someone.
yeah, it's really cute. i am a romance-loving person but i enjoyed the plot a lot (and i never like action films)! try watching the first 4 eps without skipping anything and see. :^) the first two eps are confusing but you'll understand later on. the entire story is super interesting, i don't think you should just watch the romantic scenes (there's a reason why the novel got adapted to a manga, anime, audio drama, and live action). it's similar to the novel, and with a good ending.
Putting the number of episodes aside, you lost me at "horror" genre. Lol
Haha I went into the drama with a fear of blood and horror but really loved it and didn't skip a second. If you ever want to experiment with a watered down version of this genre, I recommend The Untamed. If you're scared at the beginning battle, skip it and you wont have any duels or anything near-scary for nine whole episodes. Really not horror though, don't know why they mislabeled it... it's action more than anything.
I actually started reading the novel because the first episode of the show left me sort of confused. Either I'm…
Ah, almost no one understands the first two episodes. If you keep watching, the world slowly unravels and explain how everything came to be. Once you rewatch the first two eps when reaching ep 33, you'll have an entire epiphany (and a good one at that). I strongly suggest you to just keep watching.
I've read the novel. The show is definitely gayer than the novel and is super clever about it. In the drama, there…
You'd be pleased with this one. The rating went from 4.8 to 7.6 in Douban due to their loyalty to the novel. They didn't even have a devastating ending. I quote famous tweets, "this is even gayer than the novel" and "I was ready for low rev but I got jet propulsion."
You just wont get the kisses and steamy scenes, which is extremely fine, they really show the love better than direct BLs (which sometimes degrades and fetishizes m/m) due to the restrictions. To this moment, I wonder how Tencent got away with such an obvious romance.
I saw people give it a low rating because "It's too gay" lmao, trust me... their relationship is anything but lowkey. I think you'll like the plot, just try watching 4 episodes.
I will refuse to watch any Chinese dramas that take an original novel that was a BL novel and turn it into, at…
Really don't agree with this comment. The bans China placed is indeed dehumanizing... but with this drama, Tencent pushed all barriers. You'd have to be in extreme denial to not realize their love, they called each other soulmates and have extreme romantic subtext. At one point, I feared that they'd be completely pulled out. You don't need "I love you"s and hot kisses every five seconds to show a relationship, they showed their affection in other ways that make you really soft.
This drama has been my door to Chinese dramas. As a person who showed zero interest in historical dramas, I fell absolutely in love with the xianxia and wuxia genre this show displayed. The producers definitely have strength in night-time shots, the lights were incredible. Tencent literally played with fire when it came to the relationship and I'm here for it! I never thought I'd watch a 50 episode drama and not skip a second of it.
Sooooo people are pissed off with the ending. Did you guys not see that it's a CHINESE drama? I have yet to watch…
Why are people pissed? They both ended up continuing their journey together with huge smiles on their faces. The smile on Wei Wuxian's face is priceless... looks like they won't be satisfied unless they throw a whole wedding.
It's not that I don't like Wang Yibo. He did very well in the drama. But I think he is not the perfect choice.…
I honestly think Yibo was the better choice. The actor you named has sharp visuals, similar to Xiao Zhan. I think the directors were smart for making the male leads distinct from each other in appearance, led to a more diverse visual. Yes, it's different from the bulky Lan Wangji from MDZS... but choosing visuals that resemble light blue with very soft facial features, in contrast to the solid-atmosphere protagonist, is a pro to me. The thing he lacked was arm strength, the exact opposite of Hanguang-jun, but the scene played out adorably... they really made it work.
I was expecting their relationship to be super platonic, due to the amount of censorship talk from novel fans, but I was screaming "Is this allowed??" the entire show. The paperman scene in episode 40 was the cutest.
The first few episodes are confusing, I was completely baffled at the start. As you continue, it starts to come together (even for me, a person who never watches dramas with heavy plots). Watch episode 1&2 after completing episode 33 and you'll have a whole epiphany. I have to say, the story is great. The successful novel was turned into a donghua with two seasons, audio drama, manga, and now, a live action. The vfx is off-putting but I didn't come in expecting a blockbuster budget and wasn't too bothered by it, as I was focused on the plot. The demographic is a younger audience, so it might not be of your taste and that's alright. I watched this drama to get rid of my fear of blood and ended up searching up prices for the VIP features.
