I love this show but episode 10 felt like a lot of her being unsure of her feelings, her waiting for him, her being overly introspective etc. It was a bit of a mood killer. I like Lee Na Young in the role and her character is lovely but considering both these young men have fallen hard for her, could the wardrobe dept for the show not make her look a bit less frumpy on the outfit front. I don't need to see another oversize jumper. Plus that fringe........
It's odd, I really like bits of each episode but it is very mixed as there are also sections I find off putting. Episode 4: I so could have done without the CGI dog, I didn't like that she broke into house, it felt like sloppy writing just to get her there so she could hear the exchange with the father and realise the grandmother was dead. Also not sure about the kick her friend gave to the brother which knocked him to the pavement and caused him to bleed, I am supposed to see their potential as a couple, I didn't think it was very funny and even if it it helped him online it was a bit bizarre. I think her father was killing it this episode though, he is such a good actor. Both parents and the brother are always interesting to watch. Admittedly I tuned in for the romance aspect, I don't wanna think of Nam Joo Hyuk romancing it up with an O.A.P with bad knees so I hope young Hye Ja comes back soon......
Actually he did act as well, but it's true that first and foremost he's (or was) a producer.
He has 3 acting credits on IMDB, one for voice work, one for one episode of a sitcom and one thing from 1997. He has an very extensive body of executive producing credits. He is not really an actor by profession. He created the film company Miramax and his being in a position of power through his job and abusing it is an important part of that story. From at least 87 women who accused him of sexual misconduct, many are actresses. If he was a fellow actor it would not be the same power dynamic. Sorry, I don't mean to criticise, just thought it was important that this was right.
Unfortunately I never had the chance to be a DramaFever subscriber because they had no licences for europe. BUT…
I keep seeing on this thread that Dramafever had no licence for Europe but I live in Scotland and had a yearly subscription. Admittedly it did not allow me to access a heckuva lot......
I see that you are maybe trying to give people a heads up so they don't waste their time but I guess opinions can differ. I think Devilish Joy is packed to the brim with tired cliche , well worn drama tropes and an annoying female lead thrown in for good measure. I don't think there is anything vastly new in Where Stars Land but I am enjoying it so much more in terms of story and performance from the lead characters. No offence intended!
I feel like I am possibly in the minority but I am totally all feels about this show, I think the storyline is interesting, it is really well acted, the script is higher quality than average (which is what I would expect from the writer of Weightlifting Fairy & Oh My Ghostess) and I am interested in the main characters and supporting cast. It is an enjoyable watch with engaging interactions between the characters which make me smile. Cha Joo Hyuk is flawed and has a really long way to redeem himself but I don't want to watch dramas about perfect individuals who always do the right thing otherwise we would have no story. The only thing that troubles me is his lack of concern about the loss of his children, I hope they do deal with that in some way that is more acceptable than what we have witnessed so far. There are a lot of men in real life who walk out on their children & partner for an easier life but for him to be our lead/hero he needs to understand that what he has done is sooooo wrong and bitterly regret it. I guess I would not be gutted if she ended up with his buddy at this stage.
That rule was changed. Now, users can write reviews on shows that aren't complete [although it's preferred not…
It is a bit disappointing that the rule was changed. I just don't see how anyone can effectively review a show until all episodes are out. If people are so keen to get their opinion out there they can use episode reviews or put their view in the comments.
in my country i knew some parent like that esp maternal. When you are single and still living with them. I just…
I totally understand about what you mean about looking at the mother with "western eyes". That often occurs to me when I watch K drama, that parts of the Asian culture and differences are exactly what makes the show so appealing to me but at the same time other elements such as in this instance - the character of the maternal figure I struggle with. I understand that arranged marriages occur and that status and success are important considerations in some cultures but I think the drama could still have purpose and be an enjoyable watch alongside the mother being a little less hateful. She seems extreme but even if she reflects real life I guess I watch K drama more for the escapism than harsh reality and I think there are K dramas out there that manage to achieve that balance. I don't feel I am getting worked up about it but it makes it a really hard watch for me when she is hitting Yoon Ji Ah and for me she is irredeemable figure regardless of whether they get her to accept the relationship in the end. I thought it was interesting what you said about Pride and Prejudice. I feel the mother in that novel was not the real barrier to Darcy and Elizabeth's love that they had to overcome, it was their own characters. Mrs Bennet was a hypochondriac, a social climber who was frivolous and immature but she was likeable and essentially ineffective and would never have treated her daughters violently. I rarely comment on this site and I hope I have not offended you.
The mother's reaction is marring this drama a bit for me . Plus I don't think there is any reality in which it is acceptable to hit your children because you want them to behave differently/think the same as you (or at all). I am kinda hoping something unpleasant happens to her.........
I don't think anybody should be writing reviews before a drama has ended, I seriously wish they wouldn't. Watching part of something is not what a review is, even if you start updating it as you go along. Although I know it seems harsh I view it as a need to get an opinion out there and recognition for that view as soon as possible. I wish admin would do something about it. On the other hand there are people marking the reviews as helpful so what do I know! :)
I am so in minority, At this point I want her to end up with Min ho. I feel the Ye Je wook character is a bit nondescript, nice but a little bit meh. Maybe if that character gets fleshed out or has more feeling I will change my mind. Or maybe its a problem with me and I am slightly partial to arrogance in a male lead especially when the character is then humbled.........
They weren't perfect, no, but they seemed to get better after a little bit. I'm not complaining because I was…
The original kissasian subtitles for episode one have been replaced now so are a million time better :) They are maybe using the brilliant fan subs from subscene by muiiya and s4niya . I think I love it too!
