In my opinion, this series was definitely a step in the right direction in terms of BL dramas. Especially having it break out of the mold of a market over-saturated with high school and university dramas.
Personally, I'm extremely happy to be getting a BL drama with a mature storyline. Though having this drama be a literal breakthrough on that front, of course there would be room for a lot of improvement. I have high hopes for the doors this drama just opened wide and for the BL genre as a whole. I actually think Max and Tul are trailblazers after this and TWM.
Question what did Kim Byung In find in Kim So Yong book?
You can see on the pages that there's extra writing between the lines. It's supposed to be some coded writing that belongs to a religious group called the Donghak believers. The ministers/nobles in court keep bringing them up as a distraction so as to shift the blame to this group whenever the corruption in court is about to be exposed and rooted out. They claim that this group is trying to lead a revolt against the kingdom. I don't think Kim So Yong as a child had the book with the extra coded writing, it's probably the king who added those after he got the book from her.
But that's probably gonna hurt Kim So Yong, because now the book literally has her name on it, and the book contains writing by a group of "rebels" that are currently being rounded up, jailed and tortured by soldiers led by Kim Byung In.
To me it looked like he passed out before ever getting in a car. Looks like the problem is that his parents paid Torfun's aunt a lot of money to speed up the process.

I never made the connection that this was THE SAME actor from Crash Landing on You, not sure why but my brain remembers him looking way different there. KissAsian I think is the fastest, from my experience it usually takes 6 hours. If you can't wait you can read a basic translation on DramaMilk and watch it raw on any site.

I'm not sure why Friend Zone 2 get's so much hate, might be a certain age group that's expecting this "pure" nonsensical love story between working adults. Or people actually wanting to still be inundated with the same high school and university BL plotlines. Or maybe some just think that being "promiscuous" just makes you a bad person, and that's why they can't handle so many unapologetically promiscuous characters in one show (just to be clear, in my opinion the characters are simply sexually active and confident people)

Oh, I understand your comment on how some might justify their homophobic opinions. But I really don't think Friend Zone 2 promotes this, mainly because the show depicts both male and female characters, gay and straight as sexually promiscuous. If it's depiction of promiscuity was only for the gay male characters then I might have sided with you on this one.
As for Boyo and Music, even though they were "played" by a man, it didn't seem to me that - at least in Boyo's case - that her mood depended much on the guy, and even Music came into her own by the end of the season. Both came on top and showed sister solidarity by the end.

I don't think I saw much "textbook homophobic stereotypes" or "co-dependent women" you're mentioning, and maybe the difference between us is, I watched 'til the end.
In my personal opinion, it depicted a slew of different adult characters, gay or straight, from the sexually promiscuous or the forever monogamous to a hint about asexuality. As well as a reasonably good toe dip into a mental health disorder.
As for the women, even if one character at one point showed signs of co-dependency, all of their stories literally ended with them showing strength of character and a good handle on their wants and needs.
But hey some might find it too messy and that's totally fine, I ended up enjoying it for the trashiness and for it's - In my opinion - step in the right direction in terms of Thai dramas.

How in the hell is Jo Hwa Jin still roaming around freely after threatening the queen? How in the hell is Kim Jwa Geun not on his knees begging for his life, after brazenly disrespecting the king in front of the whole court? How is no one slapping Kim Byung In to hell for standing in the queen' way trying to get to her husband? Like MOVE BICH GET OUT THE WAY!
