Lol, I'm the opposite, the fact that the director chose that as his opening scene was such a bold move in my book that it instantly hooked me in, plus the scene was done so stunningly that personally I didn't find it aggressive.
I also watched Friendzone and am now watching the 2nd season and loving it :)
Love this series. Quick question have any of y’all watched together with me. I didn’t watch it at first because…
Together With Me is a great series with good production and acting. In my opinion it was literally a breath of fresh air for the Thai BL world at the time, and for a long time after it was released. It's one of my personal favorites, particularly because it wasn't one of your "typical cutesy" series, and Max & Tul really set the standards Oh So Damn high for chemistry and portrayal of intimate scenes in BLs. It has a cheating element as was/is "normal" for BL dramas, that might turn some off.
When I started watching this show, I did not expect Barry (Prince Charming) to suffer from narcissistic personality…
Somebody should definitely call an ambulance, whatever it is that's bringing on such distressing thoughts and actions, should be under professional supervision and assistance.
I absolutely love all the characters in this show, honestly even the people in the background are doing a good job (*/▽\*)
When I started watching this show, I did not expect Barry (Prince Charming) to suffer from narcissistic personality…
Thank you for your reply :)
It's a very interesting view on things and you might be onto something, plus you're right this isn't a session at a psychiatrists' office by any means. But I still can't help but feel like these aren't nearly enough to characterize Barry's behavior as that typical of NPD.
I'm not sure If I can explain myself as well as you do but from my point of view; I don't quite see Barry as lacking empathy for his sister. He truly loves her, she's basically his only pillar in life, and he feels heart broken to have betrayed her trust and love for him to the point of attempting suicide - not because of his long time boyfriend or because of Mando - but because losing his sister specifically meant "no one loves him", since his sister is "everyone". He did also in a way acknowledge his part in the mess him and Mando created.
You brought up great points, but the main reason I'm leaning towards this not being NPD or narcissism in general, is Barry seems to lack more traits typical of the disorder than have them, from feelings of superiority and exaggerating different aspects of their life, to behaving in a deliberate and calculated way and anti-social conduct.
Also, about the mask Barry wears when Mando first dreams of him, if I remember correctly they reveal that Mando also wears a mask when Barry first dreams of him, not sure if it has a meaning beyond that... OR, it might be your right about the masks, but Mando's mask just reflects him hiding his sexual orientation... Anywho, it was really fun reading your perspective!
11/10. Episode 5 was just brilliant. There were no excuses for cheating. Mando and Barry realized they're wrong.…
If you notice Barry's hand in that final scene (the one holding the razor blade) you can see it move in an abrupt motion - Meaning he did cut himself again and this is his second suicide attempt...
I'm sorry what? Come again? Ah Reum is saying sorry for what exactly? Am I suppose to laugh or am I just supposed to pick up my jaw of the floor after I stop finding this whole dialogue with her ex-husband ridiculous? Lol, gtfo'ta here!
Awhile back I stated a theory Yeon and Rang would have to come together to take down possessed Ji Ah, welp *sigh*…
I totally feel what you're saying. I was also waiting for something major to happen with the Imoogi using Yu Ri, Lee Rang, Shin Ju and the Snail Bride, but how it ended up playing out was somewhat of a disappointment, especially after all that waiting. And not having even one of the side characters die - her work friends or boss - when random people were dropping like flies, was also kind of meh ( ̄_ ̄)・・・
At this point Yoo In Na's character (Ah Reum) is kicking ass left and right, while both her ex-husband and current husband are just utterly pathetic characters (ーー;)
I heard they did something with the rating system so every show here suffered a drop.
They posted that they were deleting bot accounts made just to manipulate the ratings on the site. And that shows will be affected +/- 0.5 a point. But it still makes no sense to me, this show deserves way more than this.
I don't get u and According to @cookiemonster I feel like anyone would have their doubts clear....coz it actually…
This is such a great sum up of why I absolutely love this drama and at the same time why others seem to find it "a mess" and "hard to keep up with" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't understand in what scenes did Da Bin disappear without a reason? They can't believe the text messages…
Thank you for actually reading my reply! I tried to keep this one short \(^▽^)/
As for Da Bin's kidnapping; I think what we were shown was just one possible scenario out of many. It didn't have to be that specific hallway, and they probably weren't actually counting on her leaving the recital hall. Their original plan might as well have been, for the assistant or the driver (we know Da Bin trusts both of them) to lead her out of the hall to the kidnapper who she was also conditioned to trust. I think it could be a coincidence that she left the room and they just had to adjust their plans to what was happening at the moment. As for the restaurant scene, you might have a point about the writers using it as a way for Kim Seo Jin to actually experience the fear of losing his child. But personally, I still find it extremely realistic that a child would literally do the opposite of what they're told in less than 5 seconds (I've seen it too many times to count).
I don't really remember Ae Ri telling him anything that couldn't be considered a general statement, that could be said about any family. Do you remember what episode that scene was in? Maybe I missed something...
Regarding Ae Ri warning him about the kidnapping before it happens, in my book that could absolutely be considered a Threat against his daughters' safety - She kept coming after him without actual concrete proof, and by the end of it even put up a missing persons' flyer on his door, that was probably her biggest mistake.
Even if there was no record of mental illness, the story she was telling was quite unbelievable and the way she was behaving after she was "caught for the attempted murder" was unhinged to say the least, so in my mind it's logical why you would "close your eyes" to the bigger picture when faced with that situation...
I really love the acting in this drama, it's such a breath of fresh air from other dramas I've watched this year.
I'm glad you enjoyed the first episodes, but I also truly understand the dejected feeling you get when a drama disappoints you, I've had so many dramas that I dropped - most of those were praised passionately by others, just like I'm doing with Kairos. Dropping something that drains your energy instead of giving you respite is probably the wiser choice.
Maybe the problem with Kairos as a time traveling drama is that; The time jumps are only 1 month apart instead of decades or years, adding to the confusion because the exact same characters are playing 2-4 different timelines and the main thing telling the scenes apart are the time stamps. Also having the "future" change in real time so many times may add to the viewers having a harder time keeping track of what "actually happened in the end" versus what "happened, got changed and doesn't exist in this new timeline".
But still to me, it's amazing how given all these constraints I don't see any Actual Real plot-holes that weren't explained or can't be explained, how well the story ties all these events, even with events from the collapse of the tower more than a decade prior. It's amazing to me how unique this show is even among other time traveling dramas (╯✧▽✧)╯
I don't understand in what scenes did Da Bin disappear without a reason? They can't believe the text messages…
Sorry this reply is so long, you don't really have to read it if you don't feel like it Lol.
Ah I understand what your referring to with Da Bin, but I personally don't find it so unbelievable for her to walk out of her mothers' recital; She cried she wanted to stay and watch because her dad threatened to send her home if she didn't behave, she left the recital because even though she was excited at first, no one was paying attention to her and children get bored easily, she ran around the venue looking for something fun to do (I've done that more times than I can remember as a kid), and finding the kidnaper in that specific location isn't necessary, he could've have - in other versions where Ae Ri didn't stop him - found Da Bin at any other spot in the venue and called out to her. As for the restaurant, it's also very plausible that she would have gotten up and again wandered around looking for something fun to do, I would say ordering food and paying for it probably took him around 3 minutes (and I've had my baby niece who's crawling around disappear on me to the other room in less than 30 seconds).
As for the text messages, in my opinion it's easier for the human mind to believe Ae Ri faked the messages rather than believe in some time traveling text messages and phone calls, the police officers didn't experience these messages in real time like she did, they read them after the fact. From their perspective, those 2-3 messages about the lottery and other incidents from the news could easily be missed in the whole bunch of other craziness that was being sent about kidnappings and murder that didn't happen. Plus she was so out of it about taking the fall for attempted kidnapping that she literally acted crazy so who would bother to continue listening to her?
About Kim Seo Jin being a dick; It's clear to us Ae Ri means no harm but not to him. All he see's is this woman who kept coming around him spewing nonsense, actually shows up where she shouldn't be holding his daughter, why in the world wouldn't he think this crazy woman is trying to kidnap his daughter? I don't remember her telling him anything so personal about himself that couldn't be taken as a general statement of someone trying to manipulate him.
You have to have one corrupt cop on your team, if not how would any K-drama that has anything to do with the police function? It really isn't just K-dramas, it's all dramas with cops, Lol.
I couldn't agree less about this drama it's plot and characters, I think it's extremely well made. Kim Seo Jin is actually the only character in the show that shows character development - He starts of as this closed off, cold and meticulous corporate executive with a hint of past trauma and in one timeline develops rather quickly through the circumstances to a bereaved, desperate father and husband who is ready to do anything and everything to get back his wife and child, and in the other timeline develops a more soft approach towards his loved ones out of fear of losing them, but is still a outwardly cold to strangers, while simultaneously coming to terms with his past trauma. I don't see him as arrogant in any of the timelines, even in the beginning, yes he's cold and unemotional but I don't feel that he's arrogant and condescending...
As for Kang Hyun Chae, she's made out to be somewhat of a psychopath as she is a pathological liar, exhibits manipulative behavior, is very egocentric and has a grandiose sense of self-worth. That might be an easy out that the writers took for themselves, making their villain a psychopath, but these people also exist in the world. I believe her actual motives for trying to destroy her husband/kill him, hasn't been revealed fully, other than wanting him out of her life, wanting his money and using her lover to get that. But I can't say the actress doesn't do a good job portraying a villain.
Unlike you I find this drama to be very realistic, especially the human element, particularly for Kim Seo Jin & Han Ae Ri their desperation and struggle to keep it together is beyond believable in my opinion.
But then again, everybody likes something different - To each his own \(^▽^)/
