You’re an absolute fountain of information! Very much appreciated! I actually just happened to see that episodes of this live-action were being released, I had no idea which studio was making it or who the actors were. Maybe my initial response was a bit harsh, but it is one of my all time favorite mangas, so the changes were a bit jarring.. I guess that’s why some fans were hurt by my saying I don’t see my favorite characters in them, but I didn’t write that neither to disrespect the actors (who’s acting I already wrote was good) or to hurt the fans, it wasn’t my intention at all. I’ll keep watching anyway, because the show itself is pretty enjoyable.

I really appreciate your comment! Will check out the twitter account! I wasn’t aware of the circumstances around the live-action! Will defintely be enjoying the show as a stand alone ❤️❤️
I think you’re mixing in your own interpretation and things you personally feel about the characters. It’s…
I honestly think the authors’ opinion is basically the one that matters most, since it’s their story being translated onto the screen. And if they approve I have no complaints in that regard. Which scene were you referring to, the one that should be included in the manga?
Again, I never meant “motorcycle = sexy”. Sexy was a general descriptor of Minato’s character, the motorcycle was just an example of things that had been changed.
Have you read the manga? would you say the live-action was an authentic portrayal of the story in your opinion?

Honestly, it was a bit funny reading that you haven’t read the manga. I do recommend you read it, it’s extremely enjoyable.
I don’t think there’s a person out here who can watch or read something and also be completely objective about it. Who’s to say which opinion is the “appropriate” one - mine, yours or the directors’? Ultimately the only one that matters would be the mangakas’ wouldn’t it?
Agree to disagree on the live-action adaptations, I’ve never actually seen an adaptation that was as good as the source material, but I always have hope. I believe the person making the adaptation should be a fan of the work.
I never suggested that Minato’s sexiness is a product of him smoking or driving a motorcycle. The character in the manga simply exudes an aura that is sexy, and personally I don’t see it translated on screen. But again this is my personal opinion, and I’m not writing it to take away from anyone else’s watching experience.
In short, I do recommend reading the manga, I hope more people get to love it like I do.
I’m sorry, but Therapy Game is one of my all-time favorite mangas, it’s one I go back to again and again, I’ve read it countless times. This Minato ain’t it, he’s too “cute”, yes Minato in the manga is cute, but also extremely sexy, a bit rude, funny, an angry little rabbit with a vulnerable side and a bad boy attitude, he smokes and smirks and rides a motorcycle. Even Shizuma feels a tiny bit off, he is supposed to be more quiet in comparison but should still be very expressive. I shouldn’t have been this excited for one of my favorite mangas to be turned into a live action, they’re never “as good as” the source material. But the quality is still great for a BL since it’s Japanese and the acting is good, I’ll try and appreciate it as a stand alone, even though it’ll be hard to get over some of the scenes being cut (how can Minato not arrive to the university on a motorcycle, or not drop his cigarette ash on the friends hand, and where are the rest of the Divas?? Minato’s super excited face after riding a rollercoaster for the first time is missing!!). I’ll learn to love it on its own merits, but it’s gonna take a minute..
As a character trait it made no sense to me that Su Heyon wouldn’t protect Da On, and also take the chance to beat the crap out of Jaemin, I mean the guy was always quick to react violently, so it made absolutely no sense that he just stood there like a fool when Jaemin came at Da On with the knife. But I guess the story needed Seong Heyong to be the ultimate hero, also with that extra scene at the end, I didn’t need that to prefer him as potential end game over the other crazy two. But that kiss at the end was so disappointing.
I haven't read the novel or seen the first version. However, I did laugh heartily at the series. In my opinion,…
Honestly it was worth losing sleep over this series - already finished it. I’ll also definitely be rewatching it, I’ve already repeated some of the scenes twice! If my memory serves me right, the first adaptation wasn’t complete, it had the first half of the plot only, and even though it was lacking in many regards, I still thoroughly enjoyed it - especially the chemistry between the actors and the silliness of WSW’s scheming - it along with Addicted introduced me to Chai Jidan and her stories. You weren’t wrong about the chemistry in this one, and I felt it between all the characters, even with the characters’ parents, which in most BLs is disappointing to say the least, but it was such an added treat in this one. You weren’t kidding about how CC’s looks at WSW, like a snake waiting to strike at any second, I’m not gonna be forgetting those looks anytime soon. it was nostalgic, yet still such a breath of fresh air. On a side note I don’t remember ever finding a complete translation of the novel or even one that was on par with the translation for Addicted.. Maybe this series will light a fire to bring that project back to life.
So the synopsis didn’t just look familiar for no reason, does this series have some of the goofiness of the original - Falling in Love with a Rival / Counter Attack - ? Can’t believe it’s been 10 years, Chinese censors gave us too many kicks to the gut back then..
Reading the synopsis of Revenged Love, came to confirm to myself that it didn’t just sound familiar, literally watched this as it was being released and can’t believe it’s been 10 years, hope the new series has some of the same goofiness of this one!
At ep. 4 here and… Umm excuse me, why did it have to be a Middle Eastern/North African looking lil boy though? How is western propaganda still so pervasive - Hero Military man fighting the good fight in a foreign country, has to save his mate by shooting a lil child soldier - it’s 2025.
Honestly I’m pretty sure both actors are good enough, and better in other series, my problem is with the writing - the plot, pacing and dialogue are subpar. Also directing wise, the amount of flashbacks to fill the lack of plot is just too much, stop flashing back to the thing that happened 15 seconds before. I’m almost positive that given better writing and direction this series would have soared, alas it’s floating by with the mains good looks..
Edit: Not hating, love the couple and their chemistry, Im’a definitely keep watching for them.
I’m sorry but I’m not vibing with Style’s character. I hope some changes are coming his way now that he’s over this “run around annoying you” phase of his. I get he’s supposed to bring the comedic relief, but damn it’s not clicking for me.
