I think this is a first Zhang Linghe drama that I will try to write a review if I can. I am still depressed it ended 😭 I wanna reset everything and watch it like it's the first time.
Great review! I agree with all you wrote and share same sentiment about the unsatisfied part. I wish there was more episodes maybe they could've given us more epic battle sequence because I was craving for more too. I hate censorship so much 🥺
I’ve finally completed Pursuit of Jade, one of my most anticipated dramas from Zhang Linghe this year. Ever since the announcement that he would be cast as Marquis Wu’an, Xie Zheng, I followed the production closely from the very start of filming. I still have all the Reuters saved in my gallery, they’ve taken up an embarrassing amount of storage, but I just can’t bring myself to delete them.
It’s clear that this was not an easy drama to film. From extensive wire work to horse riding and the weight of elaborate costumes, the process must have been physically exhausting. But watching the final product, you can truly feel the dedication and effort poured into every scene. The director deserves special praise, not only for his strong visual sense and attention to detail, but also for how well he showcases his actors. It’s rare to find a director in cdramas these days who balances storytelling with such intentional emphasis on an actor’s presence and visual appeal. Out of all the costume dramas Zhang Linghe has done in recent years, this one highlighted his natural visuals the best. Kudos as well to the styling team for elevating his look so effectively.
The drama started off incredibly strong, though it did hit a few bumps midway. There were moments where I wished the writing had been tighter, but I understand that not everything from the novel can be perfectly adapted. Fortunately, these flaws didn’t take away from my overall experience, it remained a compelling and enjoyable watch.
I especially want to praise Zhang Linghe’s performance. As a fan, I couldn’t be prouder. He continues to grow with each project, and his dedication to portraying Xie Zheng was evident in every scene. His acting here felt elevated...more controlled, more nuanced, and emotionally precise. His portrayal of Marquis Wu’an was powerful and unforgettable.
I also really enjoyed his chemistry with TXW. Their romantic scenes had me kicking my feet every single time, though I honestly wished we got more of them. It’s been a while since a Zhang Linghe drama made me feel this invested the last time was (SOKP).
I’m going to miss this drama so much. Honestly, I might just start rewatching it from the beginning tomorrow.
2 hours to go! 🔥🔥 I feel like it just started yesterday and now we are at the end 😭
We were lucky enough this aired for three weeks unlike other dramas that usually last for 2 weeks, but honestly it's still not enough. A season 2 or 60+ episodes would have been amazing with this drama.
has the subtitles of ki**kh improved? saw some comments saying it is really bad after the leak.
those subtitles won't improve because the rest of the episodes aren't out yet, the only time their subtitles improves is when the official platforms had released the episodes already
Those who love Zhuyu don't forget to rate each episode. Although right now we are at 9.2 which is a high rating for a cdrama, once this drama finishes airing the rating will change again since many others who haven't rated will give their final ratings. It would be great if we can rate each episode if we want to maintain a good rating for Zhuyu ❤️🔥
