Well put. The commenters complaining about the sex scenes who nevertheless watched the entire movie, are amusing.…
Wow, thanks for sharing that, yai. As your only self-added MDL friend I feel special. :D I write comments and reviews mostly for my own purposes. Doing so helps me think thru the show I've seen and often realize things about it I would not have, had I not written.

And I do enjoy a good, old-fashioned throw-down with the MDL Church Lady Prudes too! I've gotten a lot better than I used to be about off-loading when a debate becomes tiresome. Life really is too short.

First things first: The machine subtitles are horrendous and confusing. I look forward to watching this again with proper subs if they ever show up. I have a feeling a great deal of my confusion will be eliminated by decent subtitles.

That said, this movie is far better than it should be, given its low budget. The acting of the MLs is remarkable. I felt I was watching real people and eavesdropping on their conversation through a hole in the wall. I deeply admire their one hundred percent commitment to the roles; their willingness to overcome fear with courage and go all out, without reservation. In this regard, this flick is the polar opposite of almost all BLs. The FL is OK, but her bad fake smoking is distracting af. Either learn to properly smoke, inhale-exhale and all, or make the character a nonsmoker please.

I am thrilled to see a gay-themed flick deal with the issue of versatility in sex between men, and the power trips and foolishness surrounding rigid top/bottom roles, which is pretty much all we see in BL-Land. Not that this is a classic BL by any means, To say the least. :P When that surprise flip took place I cheered, as did weary bottoms the world over. And what was that? Actual BJs? We NEVER see BJs in BL, though they are more common than schtuping in the real world.

These are among the most convincing sex scenes I have beheld in a film, assuming the sex is simulated here, something of which I'm NOT convinced. :) And if the sex is for real well, good for them. :) Either way, the rawness of the physical aspect so central to the story, is refreshing. Almost nothing is as annoying and, occasionally, as amusing as badly acted sex in an otherwise well-acted film. I've seen actors supposedly going at it but posed in such a way that their naughty bits could not possibly be anywhere in the vicinity of each other. Nevertheless, they huff and moan as if pounding away for real. Lame.

Note to makeup crew: In a flick showing this much skin in closeup, please at least conceal the larger pimples, especially near the butt crack. While it was refreshing and, I assume intended, that these actors appear more naturalistic than the buff, zero-body-fat dudes we usually see in BL, I can think of little else more distracting and gross in a film than zoom shots of ass zits. This is especially true because the lighting is often natural and harsh. Even the blonde, female fashion model had a greenish/purple bruise on the front of her shin; on an otherwise flawless body during a fashion shoot, no less.

I'll be checking back here occasionally, to see if anyone has found good subtitles for my second watch.

In the meantime:
8/10

This sure is something, I guess it's supposed to be artsy but I'm not into that kind of art so it just felt like…
If this were porn, there would be full-on shots of genitalia, penetration, blowjobs, and ejaculations. Did you see something I didn't?

watched it on heavenly, it had good subs there. def subs are cruical for understanding this story. one moot wrote…
Well put. The commenters complaining about the sex scenes who nevertheless watched the entire movie, are amusing. There is an incredible amount of shame and guilt on MDL threads below any sexual movie...it's sad how hung up and repressed so many presumably young people here are.

Some commenters say how much they liked it but won't watch again because of the sex. lol wtf?

Are you CERTAIN that Fuji/Sei had sex? I don't think that's been made clear. And if they did, the idea that Sei…
"Are you still talking to me?" says the person still talking to ME. Lame.

Why do you keep watching?
I agree that Muto Jun and the actor playing Fuji are doing outstanding work for a BL. It's hard to determine with the Sei actor because he's portraying Sei as very shut down and repressed in his feelings, so he doesn't have many chances to show a range of emotions.

On his wrist there were marks of being gripped tightly and wrist is only gripped tightly when the someone don't…
I didn't mean to imply the overall presentation of an "assault" was "unbearable," lol, just that it was lame and could have been done much more effectively. I'm guessing the director toned it way down from the novel and that was a mistake. It was a "fish kiss" version of sexual assault: unconvincing.

Lets be very clear, the fact that Sei stopped struggling and pushing Fuji off him is not consent, he just knew…
Certainly. Go right ahead.

hmmm...I think that's only happened to me once. It's in DMs that I've had that problem on occasion.

Oh. I edited that comment immediately after originally posting it. I didn't feel it was worth risking someone like you running to the mods over. But if you'd like to kiss my bum, go right ahead.

I'm sure you have lots of "feelings" unrelated to reality.

Did you know that what happens in novels is often not what happens in adaptations? If not, I will gladly tell YOU that.

If there was a sexual assault it needs to be made clear, and here it was not made so except to those dying to interpret it that way. Poor writing/directing/acting in that case. It's not about the scene necessarily being "longer;" it's about what we see however long the scene lasted.

You disagree. I don't care that you do.

Part of my point, and I haven't done a good job of making it, is that if this was sexual assault the writers/director/actor did a poor job of making that clear. As the screen went to black, Fuji was nibbling around on Sei's neck and Sei was laying there like a rag doll, unresisting. Considering that the earlier sex scene between Higawara and Sei make it clear what was going on, I don't get why the director cut away from the alleged sexual assault so quickly, unless it was deliberately to leave what came next ambiguous.

Yes, Fuji apologized in the morning, but before the scene ended he already had a lot to apologize for. Given that Sei talks to Fuji and Hagiwara both in vague, non-specific, confusing language, anyway...what he said in reply didn't make anything clear to me. He's become so low-affect that it's hard to tell how he feels about anything.

Can we stop romanticizing a sexual assault felon and serial abuser as "complicated"?
I'll no longer be facilitating your keyboard wanking. Clean up when you're done.
