Hi any_anka. Thanks for your reply. It will give me a chance to clarify a bit.

I dropped the show two and 3/4 episodes in, so I my comments apply only to that portion of its running time. That said, I am of the strong opinion that any "BL" that doesn't show me some significant BL vibes or action in the first almost 90 minutes, is not a BL. Anything I saw was the bare minimum, if that.

Moreover, during those near-72 minutes, I saw nothing that interested me enough to keep watching, BL or otherwise. This is where my "standards-free" remark comes in: I don't know, or want to know, how to lower my standards for a drama or film just because it's a BL. Thai BL makers know their audience does just that, which is why they keep putting out such dreck. They know BLers will keep watching, no matter what. Unfortunately, SK, JP, and TW BL makers lately seem to be following the Thai example.

If I'm bored, I'm bored; it doesn't matter if it's BL or mainstream content. If I'm rolling my eyes at lame acting or hilariously awful production values and writing, my eyes are doing loops, whether gay or straight characters are on screen.

As to what qualifies as a BL, I'd say the romance not only has to be between two dudes, it has to be believable. This is why I mentioned above, I see straight-acting actors pretending to be gay here, not actors BEING gay characters. And that problem is three-pronged: Actors holding back because they don't want to be TOO convincing as a gay character and thus be taken as gay IRL, thus in their minds jeopardizing future career prospects; actors not being talented or experienced enough to inhabit their characters convincingly; and directors who suck.

I'll add the qualifier I hate adding to all of the above, and say it is JUST MY OPINION. I hate adding that qualifier because the fact that I wrote it kind of indicates it is my opinion and no one else's. Seems to me, MDLers spend a lot of time apologizing for their opinions out of fear of being swarmed by those who disagree with them. I bet I've been attacked a couple hundred times here with words to the effect of "well, that is just YOUR opinion," or "I have a right to my opinion," and other variations, when, of course, I wrote nothing implying otherwise. :D

Her PERSONAL thoughts are made apparent by the fact that she disappeared Yoo Ah In from an article about a film in which he is one of the five leads.
She may as well have written, "I think Yoo Ah In is unworthy of having his name mentioned, because he was charged, tried, and convicted of a crime. It does not matter that he has been punished and released from jail. We should pretend he does not exist as continued punishment, and as a means of wiping his existence from the culture."
Lily Alice isn't honest enough to write the above statement. Instead, she simply removed Yoo from the mention. It is weird and Orwellian of her to do so.

The appeal has zero relevance to Yoo's name being deliberately excluded from an article about a movie in which he is one of the five leads.
Should Yoo be re-tried, should he go back to jail; neither possibility changes the fact that he is one of the leads in the film. The article is about the film. Pretending Yoo doesn't exist because of outside issues is a great example of what is so twisted about Korean entertainment media. At the least, she should have mentioned Yoo along with the other leads, then followed that up with the latest status of the case; the prosecutor's appeal (which is insane in itself, of course. Korean prosecutors never know when to let go).
Is Lily Alice a mind-control censor, controlling and editing what we are allowed to know, or is she an entertainment writer who deals with facts? She can't be both.

Your question seems to indicate you agree with Lily Alice on this issue of disappearing entertainers from the culture. If so, you are a Knetz. You are part of the problem.

A lot of potential here, all of it ruined by the vertical aspect and short-episode format.
I can't get used to that narrow, vertical frame; I feel like I'm missing 2/3 of whatever should be in the shot.
That said, the actors were quite good.
The class president and his dimples had me all wet.
