your follow ups are so relatable, i wondered innumerable times how the main character didn't seek professional…
Good, thanks. I'm thankful you're around in this thread because I'm kind of disturbed by how overwhelmingly these MDLers see this guy's behavior and treatment of other humans as "real, raw, relatable," describing how it mirrors OUR real-life dating experiences."
I asked what kind of dating Hellscape she lived in. :D
When most complaints about BL, are about how sanitized they are of real life, here comes a drama steeped in deep…
"When most complaints about BL, are about how sanitized they are of real life, here comes a drama steeped in deep reality and all of us are dizzy."
My god, what hellscape of reality do you live in, where most people act like this MC? He's an arrogant, selfish monster.
"It gives you a glimpse into the queer culture, although doesn't go all the way."
So, are you saying all of us "queers" behave and treat our romantic partners like used cum rags? That all of us "queers" are the same? That this and this only is "queer culture?" What a tiny little bubble you must live in.
" It was a very genuine representation of how dating works with everyone in real life." This is insane. I wanted…
Please quote where I said I "hate" this show? Please do; I'd like you to educate me. I won't bother with the rest of your childish comment because you're not bright. I don't care if you don't like the number of comments I leave.
"masterpiece" Wow. I have never seen that word used before on MDL. lol
""masterpiece" Wow. I have never seen that word used before on MDL. lol"
Please point out the "hate" in that comment. Please do quote the words that expressed "hate." I'd like to learn this from you.
omg..."oppress them." lol Yes, I'm "oppressing" them by offering a tongue-in-cheek response to a comment I found silly. You really are a desperate, tender little flower, aren't you? All the hating and oppression going on all around, it's so horrible, how will you stand it?
" It was a very genuine representation of how dating works with everyone in real life." This is insane. I wanted…
" It was a very genuine representation of how dating works with everyone in real life."
EVERYONE in real life. I didn't " infer" anything. It's what you wrote.
"... the whole POINT of the show was for him to become a better version of himself specifically in love, and maybe not a better version but just to find the value and meaning of love, to which imo he did."
What on Earth are you talking about? MC didn't change an iota from start to finish. He was treating his romantic partners the same pscyho abusive way at the end as at the beginning. He learned nothing. Wow, it's wild that you see character growth, cause it ain't there.
So these guys felt fucked up and crazy, but at the same time, "that feels so connected to OUR everyday lives." So you and all you friends are fucked up and crazy...yes? Who the hell is "our?"
You had to get a little dig in at the end, didnt ya? lol Cuts no ice with me.
You saw only what you want to see. Part of the reason the show effected me so intensely was that there WERE some beautiful moments, most of the acting was good to OK, the cinematography was beautiful, it had a big budget and every outdoor/public scene felt authentic, there were funny parts, but then these wild, bizarre swings in the plot would occur, and the MC would destroy some poor sap who ridiculously fell in love with this goofy-looking guy (but of course all who fell at his feet were gorgeous and would kill themselves for him because he's so hot and wonderful or something. Other characters kept mentioning how "handsome" he is, to remind the audience that what we were seeing with our own two eyes is not true, and to play along).
After they fell, then the MC would be in seventh heaven once again, they'd move in together, he'd turn into a rude, mean, bitchy jerk, they would grovel at his feet, then he would dump them.
FIVE times in the same pattern.
You saw only what you wanted to see, and made up a lot of other stuff in your head to fill in the blanks. Sad.
BTW, there were a hundred plot holes and implausibles, do you want me to list them? Why did his friends suddenly disappear? Why did they suddenly reappear? How was he locked in his apartment with severe depression, sleeping all day in a darkened room for six weeks I believe it was, but then his group of stereotypes showed up, jumped on him, and he was instantly cured of clinical depression? Two minutes later, he was out eating with them at a restaurant, laughing and carrying on as if he was cured.
Absolutely ridiculous.
That's not how depression works. It doesn't come and go in three seconds because some of your friends show up. And it's not as though he was faking his miracle cure from depression as show for them, the story wanted us to accept that one minute he was locked in a black hole of depression and the next minute he was cured because some stereotypes showed up at his door. It's insulting to people who experience depression in the real world.
" It was a very genuine representation of how dating works with everyone in real life." This is insane. I wanted…
I'm not going to argue with you. The MC is the one at the center of the story who took five men from ecstatic love at first sight to emotional/verbal abuse to dumping them ruthlessly. And the idiot, nor any of those idiot stereotypes in his little friend group noticed the ridiculous precision with which he repeated his behavior over and over again.
This guy had ZERO character growth/arc/whatever. He was the same at the end as he was at the beginning. He didn't learn shit about love, give me a break. If I recall near the same, he pretty said as much in the voice-over.
I am restraining myself from writing much at this point. I don't trust that what I type won't be wildly over-stated,…
Well, what's most bizarre is that they seem to believe that the pathological behavior we saw from the MC in this thing, in relationship after relationship, is just normal dating behavior. It's "so real and raw..." One commenter said this is so relatable because it's what "everyone" goes through. Seriously wtf? What kind of dating culture are these people existing in?
What I saw was a pattern of ecstatic lover at first sight/cranky, mean, bossy, rude bitch/morose disappointed asshole who sneaks out in the middle of the night after sex, leaving a note because he hasn't the balls to gently tell his partner it's over
The MC learns nothing, there is zero character growth or change, and he leaves shattered people behind as the wreckage he expects and doesn't care about. And then in the hallway or out the door he just happens to meet the NEXT gorgeous gay man who falls in love with him at first sight, and he begins using them as his new little toy to play with and break.
And for some reason unknowable, all these guys find him irresistable, with an aura of splendiferous exstacy about him. Spare me. He has a goofy face, big ears, and a horrifying, Batman's Joker smile. They don't yet know he's a serial soul-murderer.
These commenters accept that OK and "relatable." omg...how sad.
How is he abusive? He just couldn’t find himself and made lots of mistakes. Have u lived flawlessly and accepted…
I don't care if you're offended by the word "hell." Thicken your tender skin. "Screaming and cursing..." That's a strange observation . "take it as fiction..." where did I write that this is not fiction? Just scroll on by my comments and quit trying to police the thread.
Bravo! Precisely. Boringgggggggggggggggggggggg af is correct. It's like all the fankids in this thread watched some other show from what I labored through.
"masterpiece" Wow. I have never seen that word used before on MDL. lol
Please explain to me how I attempted to NOT "let them say it." They can say whatever they want. And I can say whatever I want. That's how it works. I'm not stopping anyone from doing anything.
Their reaction stems from insecurity and immaturity and is not my responsibility.
Are you one of those who believe viewers have a right to a comment thread free of dissenting opinions?
:) Because I'm a smartass and to me, Nan Yoon Su was woefully miscast for this role. I believe he's a talented actor whose looks and affect do not fit this role.
Thanks for not responding with hysterical anger, as so many MDLers do.
I am restraining myself from writing much at this point. I don't trust that what I type won't be wildly over-stated,…
Good God, thank you. Even though I stand behind everything I've written here, it's nice to hear from at least one other person who saw what I saw. Thank you.
Thing is...I wrote in my comment that who knows how I might feel about this thing in a few days, after I let it percolate in my tiny brain. But I'm sure you know, the fangirls and boys get upset when anyone dares to differ from their opinion. I've already heard the standard MDL insults "troll," "attention-seeker,"etc. One MDLer is praying for me because I don't like the show and said so. Also, she doesn't like that I've responded to other comments. lol It's the standard STFU routine from the insecure, defensive brigade.
You literally have tons of comments here. Spreading only negativity about the drama here. But sadly everyone ghosted…
Oh god. "harrassing" lol Again, you're pathetic. Yes, I sarcastically replied. So what? Scroll on. Why do you care?
Its not my job to link you to the many positive comments i have left on pages of shows I respect and admire. Again, take your STFU bullshit somewhere else.
Oh, and you didn't question me, you aggressively suggested I silence myself because you have a thin skin and someone doesn't care for what you care for. Then you insulted me.
No. Just...no. There has not been a watchable, new Thai BL since "Moonlight Chicken." All the best ones are four or more years old now.
"There are 17 LGBTQIA+ series airing in Thailand each week..."
That is why so many of them are crap. Thai BL is all about quantity, not quality.
How old are you?
I asked what kind of dating Hellscape she lived in. :D

Massively unrealistic, improbable, implausible, ridiculous.
