My dear go watch the episode again. The school was very good at this point to give him leave. And why did they…
Is there anything you wouldn't make up to excuse lame writing like this? Why not put him on the 20th floor of a no-elevator dorm building to make it believable? Why not break his leg in two places instead of giving him a mild ankle sprain, requiring some gauze tape? Why not write something plausible?

I won't be checking elevator availabilities in 2012. Since you're the one defending this absurdity, that's on you.

"...sad truth..." lol The dorms at that school also have no indoor plumbing. They have to walk down 20 flights of stairs to take a shit or take a shower.

Are you implying there were no elevators 12 years ago?
I've watched every minute of this series.
"spreading hate..." You poor thing. Someone disagrees with you as you try to cover for this show's lame second-half writing, and your fee fees are hurt.
lol

lol There is nothing you wouldn't make up in your head to justify the stupidity of this kind of lazy, cliche writing. He has a slight sprain with a little gauze wrapped around it and uses one crutch, not two. His brother/boyfriend would happily assist him up the one flight of stairs. And the idea that a six-story dorm in 2024 doesn't have an elevator is absurd. Then we get 15 DAYS for the healing of a slight sprain. Ridiculous...."my dear."

"I'm not of the opinion that age or gender is always an accurate representation of a person's intelligence, personality, logic, reasoning or how they share, and what is included in, their viewpoints."

Then who or what were you responding to here? Did you just throw this in out of the blue? If you did, that's fine too.

lol You poor delicate thing. I guess you get high on pretending to be a psychiatrist. It's no one else's problem that you feel entitled to a criticism-free comment section on pages of shows you are fangirling over.

How about you skip comments written by MDLers you know you disdain? Are you unable to control your impulse to feel offended, then read the comment, and slither around in your juicy outrage before lashing back out?

How about you block such people? It's a very simple thing. How about you quit whining that others don't hold your high opinion of this show and dare to say so, and why, in well-written detail? How about you grow up, Delicate Darcy?

Your second paragraph is entirely a wild assumption as to the reasons for me asking your age and gender. I did not say or imply that age or gender are "always" an accurate representation of the things you listed. But age and gender can provide insight and knowledge regarding the attitudes, opinions, and perspective of all kinds of demographic subsets.

For instance, in the U.S. far more women than men support Kamala Harris over Trump for president. Far more men than women support lenient gun laws. Far more straight women than straight men support gay rights. Are you saying this information regarding the opinions/beliefs of demographic subsets are of no use because not ALL women support Harris, or not ALL men support loose gun restrictions?

"People of any age can be insightful and open minded, or dumb as fuck." I 100% agree with this statement, but it's immensely reductive. A higher percentage of one age or gender group will be dumb fucks than in another group. That is a relevant area of inquiry and where my interest lies.

I you simply don't want to answer as to your age and gender, that's fine too.

I relate to a lot of what you've said, and you write well.
However, I looked at your "BLs Actually Worth Recommending" and yeah, regarding BLs we have almost nothing in common.

Including Chinese censored bromances on a list of best "BLs" is a curious thing, especially at #s 1 and 2. :) It's like putting Cauliflower on a list of Best Desserts. One thing is not like the others.

Now, you've made it clear you don't care what anyone else thinks, least of all me, and that's fine. I feel the same; you can do whatever you want here. But, of course, we're all free to express our opinions of whatever other members do here too.

Chinese-made BL-censored-into-bromances are shame-based parodies of gay/lgbt/BL romances, a genre invented in reaction to the homophobic Chinese government's gay-erasure policies of subjegation. A list they might belong on is Best Chinese BLs-Censored-Into-Bromances With All the Gay Sucked Out of Them. Just a suggestion.

Why anything in that genre would be appealing to a gay-friendly audience member is an interesting question. Remember, I acknowledge your freedom to make whatever lists you like.

I do agree with you on both seasons of Together With Me. I also enjoyed Semantic Error. All three are on my 30 Best BLs list. Other than that, our lists couldn't be more different. Always interesting to compare and contrast.

I'm curious as to your age and gender. I have a developing theory about what various demographics of the BL audience prefer different kinds of content.

In what universe is Liu Dong Qin (Wang) "average" looking? He is exceptionally handsome in a boyish way, which is how he's getting away with playing a 17-year-old. His acting is pretty lame, but that's also on the director.

As for Benjamin, yes, he is not your average handsome dude. I first saw him in a BL short film that is not on his biography page here, and I admit, the first thing I thought was something like "what a goofy-looking guy." But within ten minutes of me thinking that, I was entirely carried away into the world of that film and saw him as the character he created; I couldn't have cared less about his looks after that.

In the case of TOO, I saw and recognized him and again was struck by his heart-shaped face, his big nose, his tiny mouth, and stuck-out ears. This time I thought "oh there's that really good actor who's a bit goofy looking." And again, within 15 minutes this time, I was swept away by his acting into the mind and feelings of his character, Tian.

If BL has a "looks" problem, it is that too many of its actors are TOO pretty to be regarded as other than a model or idol. It's hard to relate to a lot of them because they are blindingly gorgeous, and that's all I see when they're acting, other than for the occasional good-looking one who can actually ACT. And most of those pretty boys are terrible actors.

There are a lot of American, Korean, European movie stars who are FAR from being the best looking among their cohort, but their acting talent and ability to suck us into the films they inhabit, leaves the audience giving less than one shit about how pretty they are.

Chinese netizens sound like millions of 16-year-old losers with a giant, collective inferiority complex regarding their authoritarian, mind-controlling government, and the fact that the country isn't allowed to produce its own BLs. So how better to vent than to hate on the Taiwanese, that tiny fragment of China that is everything the mainland people wish they had in their own culture? Simple jealousy/envy.

Again, I don't see how the Chinese market, no matter how large, has an effect on the overall reception of ANY BL, since they cannot legally access it other than via pirate and vpn-enabled sites. They're not contributing to any show's financial success, so who gives a shit what they think?

While it's true the actors are technically 'two old,' they do a good job of convincing me they're 18, not 30. I was shocked that Benjamin is 30 anyway. Chinese netizens simply like to bitch.

But it was made in Taiwan, and the only people who would see it in China would do so illegally and not pay, is that correct?

So who gives af what the mainland commies think about it? Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I think Chinese "netizens" (I despise that word) have a massive inferiority complex regarding BL because they know nothing good in that genre can be made in their authoritarian/mind-control country.

Do you know of a way to see a site like Douban in English? I can't figure how to translate it.

ohhhhh....interesting. Two different commenters here on MDL specifically told me the reason for the lack of physicality thus far is that the show had to appeal to Mainland Chinese viewers. Since I knew the OG source was written in China, I assumed that meant it was being released in China. Thanks for correcting me.

Either way, mainlanders have been trashing the show online, so what the hell is going on over there?

I'm surprised so many Chinese feel safe enough to watch pirated or VPN versions, given the psycho, censorious government there.

Ten years old and growing more afraid of sex with every heartbeat. Lord, the fact you're this snarky about people…
I didn't write that you "said" kissing is a nasty thing. But I easily inferred it to be the case based on the sex-phobic stupidity in your comment above.

Even if one were to concede that only people who are "horny" enjoy watching other humans kiss, could you explain what is wrong with being horny? Is there something intrinsically evil about passion and the sex drive that the rest of us don't know about?

I confess: I often become horny. Most normal people do. Are you suggesting that being horny is a bad thing? Are you a non-horny person? Perhaps one of the 1/2 of 1% of humans who lack a sex drive? If that's the case, please butt-out of this discussion because you have no idea what you're babbling about.

"...horny defending their kind..." Few things on MDL are more comical than reading English-as-a-14th-language commenters struggle to put their prudish, Puritanical attitudes into English sentences. Thank you for the entertainment.

That said, it's obvious you can't read English any better than you write it. I explained how the fact that Wang has never been seen shirtless is a direct result of the BL bottom-as-prim-girlie-girl rule. I expressed zero anger (that's an English word closely related to the word 'mad' that you used) in doing so.

Write again so I can continue to mock you. Thanks.

HOW ABSURD that people want TO watch A KISS IN A ROMANCE STORY, mention the straight romance stories that don't…
I wasn't pushing for strong scenes of passion. But adaptations can do whatever they want with the source material unless the contract says otherwise. I understand that Austen did not specifically write out detailed kissing scenes, but I'm sure that even she might admit that in the universe of her characters, lovers do in fact kiss. They have kids too, which means they f**ked. It just wasn't on the page.

An adaptation of an 1813 novel without any physical affection would ring false and prudish to a 2005 audience, at least in America.
