i tried to watch it but dropped it because of IU's bangs. like this girl barely has anything to eat but you're…
IU is a terrible, one-note actor. Her bangs are the least of the problem.

Great show except for her.

Someone told IU that pretending you're on heavy doses of Librium and never changing your expression is "acting." I don't know how she keeps getting cast.

Other than for her, this is a great show so far. LSK is king.

First of all: Who is "they?"

Second of all: I wouldn't mind being raped by KJS; not one bit.

We're very much aligned on this one. Incidentally, I also started my Thai BL journey with Love Sick and all the…
Love Sick and the other oldies often had goofy groups of friends, a few sound effects, and all the rest, but they had heart, which this thing, like almost all Thai BLs of the last two years lack.

The MLs in the BL cut of Love Sick weren't conventionally pretty at all. They seemed like real guys. Of course there were some cuties, but there are in life as well.

This series feels vacuous and saccharine already, and I didn't last through the first episode. A lot of other little things, like the absurd pile of props put out for the art students to draw. And the first gaze-and-freeze moment, when that one dude was helping the other draw, was SOOOOO predictable, and played out like a million before it. No originality at all. The directors don't even try, nor the writers. And the casting is for looks, not acting skills.

That said, the crew-cut kid in Love Sick, that was his first acting gig. He was a little goofy looking but cute, with charisma and talent. Unlike this thing.

Hi. Are you the comment section police officer? No, I didn't think so.
Did you know that "comment sections" are for "comments?"
This isn't the "positive, glowing, gooey comments" section. It is for ALL comments, regardless of whether you agree with the negative ones.
Also, this isn't the GMMTV psycho/fan club either.
The commenter above has not "spammed" "everyone's" comments. They've made a few comments here and there.
Move on and stop policing "everyone's" comments.

Excellent sports film. The actors' worked their asses off to learn to really play BB and it shows. Lots of long, unbroken shots of plays developing from the key to the basket. No CGI or mega-edits to help non-players look like they know what they are doing. These guys were playing for real.

The story is moving and inspirational, as well as funny; all without being at all preachy or mawkish. It's thrilling with an unpredictable ending. Every player/actor is excellent, as are supporting cast.

Ahn Jae Hong, who played the coach, has become one of my favorite Asian actors over the last year. He can do it all and has two of the best lips in the business.

Highly recommended.

ugh.
Not for me.
I feel I'm watching a compilation of random scenes from random Thai BLs set in college.
Same old characters, same old snark, same old goofy sound effects, same old annoying female friends of the gays, same old actors who can't act but look pretty, etc.
Did Phuwin have a nose job?
I started my BL experience with the Thai classics like Love Sick, Make It Right, Tharntype, Together With Me, Love By Chance, etc., but it's gotten to where the sound of spoken Thai makes my ears bleed.
I'm still waiting for a watchable Thai BL since Midnight Chicken.

I'm outa here. Enjoy!

I LIKE YOU !!YOU CHOOSE USE YOUR BRAIN ON THIS MATTER THIS SHIT SO CALLED VICTIM WITHOUT PROOVE/ REAL IDENTITY…
Is there an established history of American presidents killing themselves after being accused of eating more ice cream than their staff members?

I repeat: You've just been appointed a Psycho Korean Celebrity Suicide Machine Enabler. Be proud. You earned it. And no, you don't have to be Korean or live in Korea to be one. The honor is attainable by any idiot on the planet.

Your last paragraph is the excuse of every shit-spreading trash news outlet: "We were just reporting..." It's the same as randos on the Internet repeating and spreading malicious gossip about their high school peers because they "saw a post about it somewhere."

You've made it clear you're a big fan of the status quo surrounding this issue in Korea. If articles like this one lead to this actress killing herself later, I'm sure you'll feel a sense of triumph. Or denounce her as overly sensitive.

In Korea, with the overall highest rate of suicide in the developed world by far, suicide is also now the LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH for people age 10 to 39. If this young lady takes her life you can say you helped add to that statistic.

It's disheartening and also sickening, the lengths you've gone to here to justify repeating yellow, trash journalism as "news." As I've said, it's not my job to force you to see what you are determined not to acknowledge, so this will be my last response, depending on the answer to this question:

Are you Korean? I'm convinced the Korean public has a twisted sense of what it is their business to know and pass judgment on that aligns with yours, which is why I ask. Of course, I've no confidence you'll be truthful in your response, but it's worth the ask.

"But even if she was, you can't blame them for sharing current affairs or lump them in the same boat as scandal supervisor

Blame the original media outlet for bringing to public attention based on hearsay.
Blame the morons who instantly believe it and screech like wild pigs demanding cancelation and exile.
Blame the agencies, companies, producers etc who cave like cowards and drop them and cancel them.

All this article says is that she is facing bullying accusations (which she is) and goes on to describe and report on the debacle. Doesn't say whether it is true or not or give an opinion. "

This is where you and I one hundred percent disagree. If you reprint or publish "scandal" news including unsubstantiated, unproven, unverified accusations, then you are just as guilty of trash journalism as the rag that put the trash out in the first place.

The idea that saying "oh, we're just repeating what we heard elsewhere, we don't know if it's true," relieves any publisher/site/whatever of responsibility for spreading falsehoods is just bonkers to me. It's bad and lazy, unethical journalism. A professional, ethical journalist only repeats information they've been able to verify from at least one or two other sources. And that doesn't include sites that have simply repeated the unverified info in the first place.

It's my opinion that especially in Korea, where the celeb suicide rate is insane, they should be EXTRA-SUPER careful about spreading unverified claims made by anonymous or illegal sources. For instance, someone in Korean law enforcement was leaking info about Lee Sun Kyun being accused of doing drugs; then it developed that THREE separate, highly accurate drug tests showed he had not done any illegal drugs in at least three months, including time before and after the lying bitch who made up those stories claimed he did it.

But his exoneration meant nothing because the false accusations were already "out there" and supposedly legitimate news orgs like KBS and Korean Times published them. The damage was done. Lots of people were using the old "where there's smoke, there's fire" BS even after the negative drug tests came out. It seems when it comes to celebrities, Koreans are insanely vindictive and assume the worst. Hell, they delight in doing so.

Accusations like the ones in this article should not be published until the accuser has made their identity public and put THEIR credibility on the line. As it is, he can just say whatever he wants because nobody knows who he is and news orgs won't tell them. Rather, they gave him cover to do this, while publishing easily-recognized images of the actress in question. Just as Lee Sun Kyun was referred to as "actor L" by the press. They wanted to accuse him publicly while still covering their asses and in effect, saying "well, we didn't use his name, so we're no responsible. Utter bullshit. I hope his widow sues some people for millions of dollars. This crap has to stop.

At the very least, it needs to be made illegal to publish information that is ILLEGALLY leaked by law enforcement, and the leakers need to do prison time.

"I am glad to be informed of these accusations and have formed my own opinion that they are hearsay, baseless and most likely fake."

WHY are you glad to be told lies and rumors that have not been verified? Are you going to do a professional investigation or hire a private detective to determine if the accusations are true? No, and neither will anyone else. You'll go with your "gut."

OK, I'm done. It's not my job to convince you. I continue to be shocked by how lightly this sort of thing is still taken after 25 years of Korean celebrity suicide news and just three months after we lost one of the best actors in the world, LSK.

P.S. To find who is on staff at MDL, go to the bottom of this page, click on "about us," then click on "staff" on the right side. The great journalist, lily_alice, who wrote this piece of tripe, is not listed there.

No, Mr. Wise-ass, I do not have "user" confused with "staff." I went to the MDL staff page here and there are 10 approval staffers.

I didn't say anyone was getting "paid or shit," did I? I have no way of knowing. You seem to be the expert on this. I didn't "make it sound like" anything other than what I wrote. You are responsible for shit you imagine that I didn't write.

The fact is, it makes no difference WHAT MDL's processes are for allowing the shit that ends up on its page to get there, the material appearing on this site is the responsibility of MDL. Can you not grasp this concept? If a "trusted" writer posts some porno photos because they don't need approval, then hell yes, MDL is responsible because their procedures allowed it to happen.

No, your level 3 writer is NOT a "staffer" unless she/he is listed as such on the easily accessed MDL STAFF page.

As to your last two sentences, they are a perfect example of the attitude that allows absolutely false, garbage to be published and spread exponentially, regardless of relevance or truth. You believe fake news that is fabricated is nonetheless "newsworthy" because "it's already out there." There are articles about the Earth being flat and Elon Musk being the anti-Christ "already out there" also. Is such "newsworthy" crap deserving of re-publication on the CNN website because it was posted anonymously on Reddit?

BTW, you've just been appointed a Psycho Korean Celebrity Suicide Machine Enabler. Be proud. You earned it. And no, you don't have to be Korean or live in Korea to be one. The honor is attainable by any idiot on the planet.

I get that you think you're being a wise-ass, but are you not familiar with the functions/responsibilities of administrators and a ten-member approval staff which, you know, APPROVES stuff that is submitted?

So of course, if some approval staff person, who works under an administrator, is stupid enough to give a copy and pasted article you submit under your name the OK to be published on MDL, then yes, its presence and every word in it, becomes the responsibility of MDL.

Whose responsibility would it be? Jesus's?

Wow ... finally someone who shares my feelings about (1) Thai BLs in the past couple of years and (2) Bad Buddy.…
Thanks so much for this thoughtful post. I agree with every word you said. And you write very well.

BTW: "TOOTS," did you get that from...someone I know? :)

I came upon BL Universe just three and a half years ago, and almost all of the first shows I found were Thai. But they were...you know, good.
Love Sick (BL cut)
Together With Me
TharnType
Make It Right
Views of Love: Grey Rainbow
Love By Chance
I Told Sunset About You
I Promised You the Moon

The last two above are #s 1 and 2 on my top 30 BLs list, and all the others are on the list too except LBC. Thing is, they were all made before 2022, maybe even 2021. The only watchable Thai BL since then is Moonlight Chicken. There are a few other early Thai bls that should be on the list above, but I can't think of their titles right now.

I watched SOTUS and SOTUS S early on too, because I kept seeing them on Youtube, but I had no idea what a BL was, and didn't know any better. Now I consider both of those to be well-made but without a heart or soul. And of course, the absurd dead fish/mannequin kisses freaked me out.

Oh god, don't get me going on Bad Buddy. I like the actor Ohm, but he's the only good thing about that horrible show. So, naturally, it has an 8.4 rating on MDL. lol

Wow, since you've not started "Unknown" yet, see if you can wait until it has finished airing so you can binge it at your leisure. I wish they had released it all at once, as some Korean BLs have done. I made the mistake of watching the first episode when it aired because I was desperate for new BL material, and was instantly hooked. The quality of this show, as BLs go, cannot be overstated. So, there is no way I could then hold off for three months to be able to binge it. Thus, I am one of the many BL addicts spending their weekdays longing for Saturday to come. :)

I'm not young, so the shipping and fan service stuff never interested me, except as an interesting and bizarre phenomenon. Thanks for all you wrote above about shipping and fan service. I was aware of both, but you fleshed it out for me a bit. Having left Thai BLs behind for Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese BLs, I've also left those two stupid things behind. I do often give a new Thai BL a first look, but usually drop during the first episode. You can tell pretty quickly what you're about to get, which is another assembly line hack job.

Have you seen the early Chinese (before the gay ban) BL called "Like Love?" I have a feeling you'd like it. It is delightfully quirky and totally unique, as well as funny and touching. It's at #9 on my best BLs list. I boycott Chinese "censored" bromances. They can take their Gay Content Ban and shove it.

Check out my 30 worst BLs list. You might find it entertaining.

2015?! I don't understand the low rating because this was done really well. I would like some closer after that…
The bizarre ratings are largely because 25% of the MDL membership are Puritanical, prudish, PC/SJC American girls with bad taste. Took me quite a while and some research to get that figure.

The better a film/drama is, the lower its rating and vice-versa. The sex-phobics adore "fluff," rainbows, unicorns, and dead-fish kisses. They hate sex. They also hate anything with grit and heart, like this excellent short, #2 on my fave gay short films list. Great stuff like this goes100 feet over their heads.

Title Suddenly Last Summer Spoiler
Uhm.. in the comment section someone talked about a HE, but it doesn’t feel like that to me, did I see the wrong…
Going South is my favorite short film. Definitely worth hunting down, and definitely NOT a sequel to Suddenly Last Summer.

Got to blparadise. co and search for Going South. It's there. As I recall, some subs are missing right at the beginning and maybe once or twice during, but they're mostly there, and I don't remember thinking they were bad.

Oh, I don't know if GS is free to non-subscribers at blparadise, but it's worth the $2 a month to have a membership and that is where I have found LOTS of films I couldn't find elsewhere; also feature films, 18+, and BLs. You could pay the $2 and watch your heart out for a month, then drop the subscription if you like. I've kept it because it's so cheap and again, I frequently find short films especially I've not seen anywhere else.
