USA - The half of it that hates Donald Trump as much as you do.

I watched over 350ish dramas but this movie got one of the best looking posters ever. This is one of those "you…
ummm...I'm going to assume from your "normies and boomers" phrase that you are an American like me. Nineteen U.S. states allow first-cousin marriage without restriction. Seven more states allow it with certain requirements. People need to get over two things: the idea that first-cousin marriage is "illegal" almost everywhere, which it's not, and the idea that the freaking government needs to have its nose in people's personal, romantic business.

I'm willing to bet that making first-cousin marriages illegal has prevented exactly ZERO first-cousin, long-term relationships. First-cousin romances are so exceedingly rare that there is no reason for laws regulating them to exist at all.

This movie was really good. The female lead though was bad at first, I liked her as the movie progressed. And…
Have you ever heard of the spoiler button?

"Pray to the P***Y!"

If you're dumb enough to watch this trash, you'll know what that means. lol

Actually, there are elements of an intriguingly twisted story here, that in the hands of a more talented director and with a bigger budget, might have become something pretty powerful. Unfortunately, we get this director and this budget, so...yuck.

The female lead character might be the most repulsive/repugnant woman I've ever met in a film, but it's not because of the actor's great talents.

Anyway...recommended only if you're really in the mood for poorly-done trash you have to see to believe that it exists. I did watch it all the way to the end, so that's something, though I skipped ahead a couple of times near the end. By then things had gone so far over the top that I didn't know whether to laugh or scream.

4/10 Those 4 stars are for trying to go some places I've never seen a film try to go, even if it never got there.

You lost me at "racist..." I don't read replies past lazy, stupid, offensive accusations like that, so you wasted your time writing the rest of it.

Did you know cultural affectations and traditions are NOT passed along via DNA? Did you know Japanese, Korean, and Han Chinese people share 99,9% of their DNA? So Chinese and Korean women are the same "race" as Japanese women and yet, for some reason, gosh, I can't imagine what it could be...they don't indulge in KAWAII silliness such as walking pigeon-toed or acting brain-dead.

Educate yourself before hurling radical insults like "racist."

babe you've only watched 25 minutes of it. I strongly implore you to watch the whole thing before you make such…
Well, actually, I tried watching this film once before, about two years ago. That time I dropped it at about 90 minutes. It is my opinion that this is a horrendously terrible film, whether one drops it at 30 or 90 minutes. I'm OK with that. I'm glad you love it. That's great.

Believe me, I wanted to love it, as the first four actors listed above are among my favorite Japanese actors. Nevertheless, this movie is among my least favorite Japanese films and will remain so.

I have several "Top 30 Best Films" lists on my profile page. Check them out if you like!

yeah, uh huh...THAT will definitely happen. Many times, the home is already broken. That's why one of the spouses…
I already said "justifiable" is YOUR word and YOUR hangup. I don't make anything sound like anything. It's you who's perceiving my words in such a way because you're projecting your way of thinking onto me.

My reaction to a partner cheating on me would depend entirely on a lot of different factors, each of which would differ according to who my partner was, when, and for how long this cheating went on among many other factors. Assessing a partner's infidelity is no more black and white than anything else in the universe.

lol WHOSE morality? Oh, that's right...YOUR morality, which you assume to be the only valid form of such, and which you use to judge other people and their lives, even though you claim you don't.

I'll be crucified here for saying this, but as I've told you already Maggi, I want to see a well-made BL in which…
I would love to see that too. :)
Fandy Fan would be required to star in my version of that film. :)
I found FBTE overall a good flick, but it skipped over when the half-brothers' relationship became romantic/physical. They went from being like 10 and 4 to grown men when their father died, by which time they were already involved. I would like to have seen a lot more of the development of the relationship and the angst surrounding that change.
Beautiful actors though.

Another thing people cringe over and pretend doesn't exist is the fact that it's not uncommon for full-blood male siblings, especially if they are very close in age, to fool around and explore sexually together in adolescence. The male sex-drive is in overdrive at that point, you're horny 24/7, so it's not surprising things happen.

But the vast majority of those boys are straight and simply move on to the next stage of their development in a couple years, which is when they start actively pursuing girls. Their same-sex experimentation is entirely physical with no romantic or relationship implications.

Why would I watch a "film entirely" that has me squirming to drop it at 30 minutes? I have watched thousands of movies. If a film hasn't engaged me enough to hang around at half an hour, then it hasn't done its job as it should, and I'm out. All that matters to me is what I saw in the first part of the film that bored me to tears.

A great and powerful, redeeming character arc from a typically simpering Japanese female character who annoys the hell out of me in the first 30 minutes is something I'm OK with missing out on. Again, the film didn't do its job and, having seen that type a zillion times before, I'm out.

Yes, I know there are Japanese movies with strong female characters, but the type with the mannerisms I saw in this film is the dominant one. ugh It's not even about how strong the character may end up being in some way, it's that whispery, cringing, downcast, fake-Minnie-Mouse-voiced affect that makes me crazy, and it is definitely a Japanese thing. Google "KAWAII."

Any movie that forces me to drop it because of its awfulness in its first 30 minutes or so gets a 1/10 from me. It is absolutely a fair rating. Why would it be any higher? If MDL didn't think it was "fair" to rate a movie you drop, the rating stars would not become available when you click on "drop." You are free to rate this a 10/10 if you like.

They were talking about family, as in relation. I don't remember the exact word, but WQ sees ZY as little brother…
Your inability to perceive my "handicapped" remark as snark, explains your inability to understand the story being presented in this BL as well.

Just because a character says something does not mean it is true. I choose to interpret "gay for you only" in BL as the character being in denial, simply because such a thing is not possible. If the same character told his lover "last night while you were asleep, I flew to the moon and back on the gossamer wings of a golden-haired fairy," would you interpret that to mean such a trip actually took place? I know I wouldn't.

Furthermore, the "straight-to-gay" silliness in BL has been on its way out of the genre over the last couple of years. This show being in the upper tier of BL story-telling in so many other ways, I doubt the writers are going to try to convince us of that moronic trope as part of its arc.

But you believe what you need to believe.

Where did I say we live in a "gay utopia?" Where did I even imply such a thing? I didn't.

You're inability to see that Qian is either aware and in denial about Yuan's feelings OR he's mentally handicapped, is not my issue to fix. See or don't see what you want.

Work on your reading comprehension. Nowhere above did I say that was NOT what Qian is saying in the fishing scene. What I DID say is his assertion is a form of homophobia.

I'm not responsible for your inability to see what is right in front of you regarding the fact that Qian is aware but in denial about Yuan's feelings for him. If he isn't, he is incredibly stupid, and that's not the case so there you have it.

No, he does not "become" gay. No one "becomes" gay. They are either already gay and in the closet or in denial, or they're not. Do some research.

No, I have not said infidelity is "justifiable." That is your word.

Infidelity is often "understandable" however, given the circumstances and human nature. No one else needs to "justify" their infidelity to you. Or are you some kind of officially, appointed Cheating Judge in a Court of Adultery?

I love age gap stories too,as long as they are not problematic 😁
Age of sexual consent here is 16. There's nothing "problematic" going on unless you choose to pretend there is which, I guess you do.
