Crazy how there's always so little nuance amongst international fans when it comes to korean issues. One side…
This is complete horseshit. You are the same person posting as "psychophant" and a few other names here. You slipped up and used the phrase "...let's just stay in our lanes...," just like you do when you're posting as psychophant. You're also once again pushing your "international fans shut up" crap.

P**s off, weirdo.

Your obsessive posting under this story in defense of Korea's suicide culture is downright sick and disturbing at this point.

I've said all I have to say to you under your psychophant name and I've blocked you, so I won't repeat myself. But please do remember to f**k yourself one more time.

It is NOT only a Korean issue. It is an issue for all of us international fans who watch the shows these people…
You're an idiot. I feel zero need to convince you of anything.

However, I did just now check your profile, Miss-I've-Been-Here-One-Month-Psycho. lol

So come on, how many names are you using? I won't tell anyone.

You probably gave yourself the one "heart" on this latest stupid comment. You're 13, right? LucyL's been here since August,2022. I've been here since June, 2023 and somehow your brilliant deduction is that I just now traveled back in time and signed in as LucyL in August 2022, then did a time-leap back here tonight, all to make a fool of you?

You do that very well on your own.

You are part of the Korean suicide/fan/celeb problem.
There are so many flaws in your thinking, it's absurd and your descent into insult upon insult to deflect from Korea's huge suicide problem is disturbing, to say the least.

Great, you're proud of Korea's suicide rate and don't see how it's much different from any other country's. Fine, you're an idiot and again, an enabler of the problem.

I know a great deal about Korean law, especially as it pertains to the suicide problem. It's downright weird that you continue to assert that knowledge cannot be obtained from reading, but instead it is acquired through osmosis...one must be IN a country to know anything ABOUT a country.

I repeat: "Give me a break. How many people stare into the black unknown of death and walk right into it despite their fear? Seems brave to me."

Just because you don't like reading it, doesn't mean it's not true. Quite the opposite. That reading that makes you uncomfortable means it hit its mark. And no, I'm not worried that anyone is going to off themselves because of my statement above. There are plenty of other reasons to check out in Korea other than what some American writes in an obscure comment thread on the Internet.

Furthermore, your instant reaction to my statement above, which amounts to "shut up, shut up, shut up," is another perfect example of why the suicide problem in Korea is so entrenched. As well as being a shame-based society (another thing that's true despite your not liking to read it), Koreans don't like to talk openly about anything touchy or uncomfortable or unpleasant like, you know, hundreds of celebrities killing themselves, or god forbid, depression and mental illness.

"No, no, no, we don't talk about that. You can't say that! People will, you know, think and stuff! Let's remain silent and things will...something...! Because the suicide thing will fix itself!"

wow, you have no idea what a pathetically comical stereotype of sad, poisonous, Korean social attitudes your comments add up to. But please, in your ignorance of what a tool you are, do keep putting up more defensive bullshit. It would be entertaining if it weren't so heartbreaking.

Hey, I like them! Most K-Pop is, sadly, very similar to all other K-Pop. This one song, however, is fierce and different, not your typical K-Pop dance banger.

The only K-Pop group I watch/listen to with any regularity is Jonghyun-era SHINee and Jonghyun's solo content. He was beyond gifted as a lyricist, composer, and dancer, but his most jaw-dropping talent was his voice. A gift from god which he honed and perfected through years of hard work. It wasn't just how his voice sounded, it was what he learned to DO with it that made him one of the finest pop/rock vocalists in music history, world-wide.

It's amazing to me how many K-Pop groups there are, and that Korea can support all of them. The prominent groups have major international presence, but most make their $$$ in Korea. I can't believe the market hasn't been saturated yet.

I know what I know and I know why I know it. I've been following Korean entertainment for many years. There's a thing called the Internet and the idea that you have to live in Korea to know what's going down there is exceedingly stupid. I am extremely knowledgeable about Korea's entertainment juggernaut, maybe more so than you, considering that you only want to know things about it that soothe your hyper-sensitive notions of Korean perfection. You're nobody's victim,

I'll argue that my perspective from OUTSIDE the psycho Korean fan culture makes my opinions on it MORE valid, rather than less. I'm not all caught up in defending the honor of my country against meany outsiders who say meany things, like you are. You are anything but objective about this, so piss off with that BS.

This is not YOUR thread. This is A thread in a public comment section and I will continue to leave comments where I please. So piss off with that BS also. Go post your idiotic, suicide culture-enabling comments on some K-Pop fan-girl site. They like your kind of talk.

oooh, you called me a "troll." I will shrivel up and die.
oooh, you said I was "spamming." I don't know how I can go on.
oooh, you called me "ignorant." It must be true cause you said it.
oooh, you said "fucking." You must be really, really, super-duper mad. Good.

I'm American. We have horrible problems here like mass shootings and the fact there are more guns in this country than people. We have a psycho right-wing that threatens to re-elect a criminal former president. We have Puritanical bigots trying to purge libraries of any book that doesn't fit their world view.

What we DON'T have is a sad, sick celebrity/fan culture that kills off its best, most creative people at an alarming, horrendous rate. And since THAT is the topic of this thread, your little part of it included, I'm pretty damn comfortable in sharing my thoughts on the matter here.

And as I'm sure you know, Korea as a whole, celebs aside, has the highest suicide rate among OECD nations around the globe...by FAR. It is double the rate in the U.S. and we're pretty fucked up in many ways.

Don't like hearing opinions other than your own about that? I don't care.
Hurts your fee-fees? I care even less.

I've come to loathe that phrase. Given how often this happens and how blase' Koreans are about it, it's insulting.
It just sounds boring to me. Who wants to rest in peace for all eternity. Sometimes I use "rest in joy." But yeah, if you believe existence in any form ends with death, then the idea of "resting" is silly. I'm agnostic on an afterlife of some kind, but lean toward reincarnation of some kind.

If you mean 'BL' as in gay then yes it's 'BL' because the boys like each other. But I wouldn't categorise it as…
Could you please share your definition of the word "fetishize?" Thanks.
Merriam Webster Dictionary:
fetish
a
: an object (such as a small stone carving of an animal) believed to have magical power to protect or aid its owner
broadly : a material object regarded with superstitious or extravagant trust or reverence
b
: an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion : prepossession
c
: an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression
2
: fixation
3
: a rite or cult of fetish worshippers

I hate when people take a word with a well-established meaning an overnight try to turn its meaning on its head. I assume NONE of the above descriptions fit what you think you're trying to convey in using the word "fetishise." But I get that it's trendy and hip, so have at it.

Also, try thinking outside your little bubble. I've been through my own hell of being raised religious and staying in the closet until I was 38 and hating myself most of that time; you're nothing special. However, I don't find it necessary to escape into saccharine fantasy BLs where everyone is gay, all the straight jocks love gay boys, every third character is trans, and nobody minds any of it. It's juvenile, saccharine, and sad.

Your use of terms like "proper" is what's most annoying, I think. It presumes there is ONE right, proper, and appropriate way to present gay stories and you, of courses, know what it is.

They use the wrong word for ME. Just like the dude above finds it to be the correct word for HIM.

You used the word "problematic." That's all I need to know about you. lol Also "fetishize." Which is likely anything sexual in nature you don't approve of. People have been fetishizing each other since the beginning of time.

WHO decided on this made-up distinction you just cited as if it's written down somewhere?
Why do you get to decide what's realistic and what's not?
The idea of two young men dating in Asia WITHOUT major pushback is the fantasy.
"Proper LGBTQ representation..." Are you on the committee that decides what's proper and what's not?

I find the term "queer" problematic. So stop using it. :D
