It's important to avoid making sweeping generalizations about any group of people based on individual tragedies.…
omg...exclamation points! I'm dying from the pain...next will be all-caps

omg, you said "xenophobic" and "racism" again...how will I ever bear the pain of your words? And you said "fucking" and called me a "sniveling bish..." I must now retreat to a dark corner and dissolve...

Psychotic word-salad and not even well-written.

You're either lying about what you said, or you don't understand the implications of your own words. I'm not here to educate you.

A LOT of Korean fans "adore" their idols much too fiercely, to the point they think they own them, on stage or off, and that the idols OWE them for their success. They want to be paid in perfect behavior in their personal lives too, which are none of these fans' business.

I don't want to engage with you further either. You're not perceptive and your English is a mess.

Bullshit. I don't "represent" America, I just live here. I don't consider anyone in Asia a "yellow person" so piss off with that mis-directional assertion along with the other ones you've tossed into this argument. Nor did I ever label Korea or any other country as "racist." That's your style of discourse, not mine.

"It's so unfair." You make shit up and then react to your own shit with whining complaints. You're a joke.

I NEVER labeled Korea as toxic. A sensible person knows the assertion there is a sickness in the Korean fan culture which pushes celebs to suicide at a horrifying rate, is NOT an indictment of every single person in Korea. That's just you making shit up. There are many fans who do not think like you, nor torment entertainers about their personal lives for sport. I'm not talking about the, and you know it.

oooh...you used the word "xenophobic." You must be highly educated and knowledgeable. You're not. Call me what you want. I don't care. You are part of the problem, and I'm not attempting to change your mind. That would be a futile use of my attention and energy.

YOU and what you wrote is the Korean suicide problem in a nutshell. The idea that fans "made the stars what they are today..." is delusional. Every actor and idol who "makes it" has worked their ass off for years to make that happen. Fans REACT to what those artists then produce, and if they like it, they are free to enjoy the output of their work as long as they do or don't want to, nothing more.

Your poisonous assertion that fans OWN entertainers and that the entertainers OWE them something, even in their personal lives, is the outrageous core of how and why LSK was hounded to his death.

Lastly, your assertion that other celebs have had it worse and survived, thus implying LSK is somehow weak and over-sensitive, reveals the shockingly vicious fan-attitude that they and the media should feel free to dish out whatever and however much hate they wish, and the artist in the crosshairs should be expected to just take it.

Really, just p**s off.

are u coming back to comment yet?
Why do you ask? Apparently, I moved on to other flicks and forgot to return to this one. :)

omg. This is so naive and disgusting. Your comment illustrates the insanity that drove LSK to take his life. Rather…
Your entire comment is absurd. Thus, I'm not going to put energy into replying at any length. Your alcoholism has nothing to do with anything here. That you think it does indicates your perception and reasoning skills need honing. Maybe more frequent meetings?

I'll be anticipating your apology.

Yeah...no.

I wanted to like this flick. I liked the measured pace, almost complete lack of OST in the first half, and other technical aspects, but...

What the hell with that ending? Made no sense.
No sense that his passion for her was real.
No sense there was anything about her that would inspire such passion.
Eventually, that measured pace morphed into tedium.
Several of the relationships between male characters never became clear to me.
WTF with that hotel/"pheromone" scene?
There were never any customers at the swanky hostess club.
The ML took over as the manager, but never managed anything or even showed up at work.

I could go on, but suffice it to say there are a lot of reasons my early impression I'd be rating this a 9/10 soon turned into a certainty I'd be giving it a 7/10 instead. To me that's a solid C-average flick, nothing more or less.

Korea is my fave source of Asian films by far, BUT can Korean male actors portray a character who is not endlessly lighting up a cig? It's an acting crutch that has become annoying to me. I'm no anti-smoking-in-movies crusader. I always laugh when I see some tender flower has added "smoking" as a tag/trigger warning on a movie's MDL page. BUT when every character in every crime/thriller/romance/yakuza flick is lighting up constantly, the behavior becomes tiresome, a cliche/stereotype rather than a real person's habit. Just once, I'd like to see a Korean actor portray the act of thinking/ruminating/considering without lighting up to appear to be deep in thought. It's 2023; haven't any of these people heard of lung cancer or emphysema or any of the other 500 bad side-effects of smoking? It becomes laughable when it's a character who is otherwise in great shape and runs around kicking ass in brutal fight scenes with bad guys without appearing to have difficulty breathing.

7/10

Every single terrorist who took part in the 9/11 attack on New York City in the U.S., which killed more than 3,000 people and sparked wars that killed hundreds of thousands more, was a Muslim.

I do not believe EVERY Muslim is a terrorist, nor have I ever said so. However, a prominent percentage of terrorists are Muslim. Do you understand the difference between those two concepts? If so, please stop writing nonsense.

There are plenty of moronic bigots in the U.S. who would say that, but I'm not one of them. Such people are in the minority here, thank goodness.

And oh, a reminder asking you to please copy, paste, and send in a reply to me the statement in which I wrote that Koreans are "the yellow people." Thanks.

I'm not going to take your bait and get into a pissing match I would win anyway.

Could you please provide a quote from a comment of mine where I called Koreans "the yellow people." If it's true that I wrote that, I'd like to correct it. So please provide a link or copy and paste the comment in which I called Koreans "the yellow people" and put it in a reply to this comment.

Thank you in advance.

If you're trying to spark an argument about American Imperialism and Evil Bullying Around the World, you'll have to have that fight with yourself. This thread is about Korea's suicide epidemic and twisted celebrity culture, not geopolitical issues or how the U.S. causes all the problems in the world.

You're attempting to redirect the discussion, and I'm not going there with you.

It's exceedingly dishonest for MDL's biography on this page to say that Lee Sun Kyun "passed away after being…
Boy, are you ever spot-on about this. It's disappointing the people who run MDL are glossing over the fact LSK killed himself by carbon monoxide poisoning from charcoal briquets he deliberately lit up to achieve his intended purpose.

"Passed away." That is just a lie. Plus, he was already dead, not "unconscious" when he was found.

I'll say no more for now. You've said it all very well above.

What means it's true?
How does this statement establish that these two people really ARE dating?

Actually, it's a great way of saying "buzz off, The Fact. Our player's personal life is nobody's business but his."

This is how ALL agencies should respond to queries about anything beyond the scope of the entertainer's professional activities and other matters directly pertaining to them.
