I've found this drama, i couldn't find english subs tho but it's really a beautiful drama!!
I suggest you watch Pure (1996). I think Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta Koto (2000) is like a poor imitation of that. Maybe I'm wrong, but anyway Pure is worth watching I think.

I found it on YT, but with no sub! The video quality wasn't great too, but I loved the music. Basically, it's based on the singer, Chiharu Matsuyama's life. Tabidachi (departure, the movie title) is one of his works. I really love it!
