I see some people complaining that they dragged out the angst arcs – but I think y’all just need a little…
And don’t get me wrong. I’d understand the frustration if (a big “if”) it was an ACTUAL separation (meaning they don’t see each other / they keep being in the same location but keep missing each other across SEVERAL episodes) like the way it was in “General and I” (for an example), but here in “Love in the Clouds,” it wasn’t like that at all. They share a screen/in the same frame together every episode. After the second plane hits the tower, you don’t really have to wait long before things get cleared up (TRUST me), but unfortunately some people just don’t have patience. And I really do enjoy seeing them together, whether they’re playing off each other or being mad/upset at each other. The actors both individually have charm and together they have off-the-charts chemistry, so I was personally never bored of them. It’s not every drama or pairing that makes me feel this way, so I didn’t want it to end. When I say this drama gave me everything I wanted, I really mean that. I’m sorry some of y’all didn’t experience it the same way I did - - - genuinely.

I see some people complaining that they dragged out the angst arcs – but I think y’all just need a little bit of adaptive masochism like me, cuz I was having the time of my life 😚😁 Their separation was barely a separation due to how down bad they were, especially him (I mean, equal down-badism is nice outside of the angst arc, but within the arc, I prefer ML down-badism) so I didn’t have any issues with it. Besides, it’s better than a quick arc and wishing the angst was longer. Does nobody understand the concept of delayed gratification? Or the fact the characters are going through raw feelings and may not be able to see things that the audience does? It’s not like it didn’t make sense. Fear is a top emotion that paralyzes people from doing something that outsiders deem as easy (“just tell him”). When I’m not the one who has to deal with spiders, other people’s fear seems so silly, like “Just get on with it,” but I still have cognitive empathy.

when will ji bozai finally know the truth about ming yi? i am in ep 22 now and he still has zero idea. it is starting…
yeah, I understand that.. I’m mainly talking about when he finds out that MY wanted the GMD after all, I saw people saying he should’ve inquired further about why and that “he’s stupid.” and I’m like, ‘bruh, his emotional scars have been freshly re-TORN. he’s NOT gonna be calm or see things calmly about it.’ It’s insane how people expect perfection and lack of feelings about a thing that affects the character very personally.

I had the total opposite reaction. I knew the angst was coming and that there’d be payoff for it – so I was just blushing the whole time, through all the story arcs but especially the angst arc. I was like a crazy person just smiling and heart eyes. I don’t want quickies - - it’s gonna be over soon, so why feel frustration when you could be in happy land over them not being able to stay away from each other? Also understand that (in Ming Yi’s defense) fear paralyzes and (in Bozai’s defense) you can’t see boiling water clearly (whether it’s anger, betrayal, hatred, etc) until you calm down, and you can’t see the forest for the trees (cannot see situations as they really are when you’re in the midst of them). Too many people were hating on Ming Yi as if she can see and know everything that the audience is. People complain about characters jumping to conclusions when they themselves are jumping to conclusions.

On the contrary, I feel like his expressions are spot on, no overacting, no trying too hard. Subtle when needed,…
You put into words exactly what I felt. I could always tell what ML was feeling during all those moments that had no dialogue to it, and I loved that. This is my first drama with him, and I’m a fan now. “No overacting, no trying too hard. Subtle when needed, deeper when required.” 🙌🏼

AMAZING chemistry and romantic between the leads, you’ll understand right away what the angst will be … there’s no love triangle unless a wannabe and fake count as such(?)

I love how sweet and tender they are to each other, especially him to her once he realizes she doesn’t have ulterior motives about him despite everyone else in the drama having it… It’s not a fave drama of mine, I understand why some people have dropped it. I stuck around for Liao Tingyan mostly.

Since S2 wasn’t renewed until February 2020 (at which point, filming it had to be postponed later because of COVID), I wish it had been a part of S1 all along where it would’ve been filmed in 2019 and been a complete season. I miss the original cast :( I think they also should’ve used the original cameras, because why did the S2 episodes’ wide shots have a blur around the screen? And the cuts and fade-to-black scene endings that feel abrupt or not the correct time to close the scene … I know S1 got complaints of “slow pacing” and “too long,” but … (sighs) Will audiences never learn that what they complain against, they’ll complain once it’s “fixed” too? The problem isn’t long scenes, it’s your short attention span and impatience. To cater to that impatience and short span, the story suffers. I remember American audiences adoring Hollywood switching to 8-episodes-only and thinking it’d fix things (it didn’t) … and it took awhile, but people are sick of it like I knew they would be. Less does not mean quality! Less means rushed and half-baked, UNLESS the story itself is inherently little enough. But Arthdal Chronicles is kind of an epic, so it NEEDS length. Anyway, I’d rather have long and slow dramas, then rushed/half-baked - - because at least I’m getting a properly cooked and seasoned meal (and my attention is currency). Why would anyone want to pay the full price for a rushed/half-cooked meal? Besides, I didn’t feel S1 was “too slow” because I understand that stories are more than just plot or inciting events. You must use all aspects of a story.

I do have to wonder about the people’s (lack of) critical thinking skills when they say that mortals need suffering to ascend and agree with the ML that “it is destiny, the way of heaven” blah blah blah - - and then have no thoughts at all (not even a realization) about the fact that cultivators live in their own private community away from all the worldly suffering and ascend to heaven. Why is it mortal cultivators can avoid suffering and ascend, but the non-wealthy mortals “need” suffering? smh. The FL is right, and yet so many people in the Viki comments are so critical of her compassion and her acting on that compassion.

agreed.. she made Naksu so cool, I wanted more. also ironic that what ppl love in Younjung, some are critical…
no, I’m agreeing with you. I know she isn’t expressionless in every scene; and yeah her eyes are so expressive even with a poker face. I prefer acting thru the eyes cuz that’s where a majority of expressions are anyways (take the eyes away and you get nothing). that’s why you can’t gauge a person’s thoughts when they wear an eye mask or dark glasses.

never mind, I just saw people criticizing GYJ too, smh :( those people would get a stroke if they knew how expressionless they are day-to-day. It’s just a part of human nature when there’s nothing to react to. Do you go making faces every second when you’re talking about the weather with your friends? (as an example)

agreed.. she made Naksu so cool, I wanted more. also ironic that what ppl love in Younjung, some are critical of Hwang Minhyun; their eyes and voice are expressive, even if their facials may be ‘expressionless.’ they can really make you believe they’re sad or yearning or mad at someone, and that’s important as an actor. and it’s not like he’s not improving, cuz I think he has; but people also need to understand that IRL/live-action people are not animated characters.
