this used to be one of my most fav dramas ever but now i can never rewatch it after knowing ksh's truth..

guys, if you’re thinking of dropping this, maybe just watch Episode 54 to the end? (Episode 56 is where you get the backstory that started it all, prior to the war 1000 years earlier).

So… this drama should’ve been called “Misunderstandings and Redemption” subtitled with “How to Make Sifeng Suffer.” There’s more misunderstandings than there are happy moments, and there’s more angst than there’s any romance. This is poor writing. There is not going to be any power or impact in the angst (except for annoying you) if there isn’t any light to contrast the darkness first … And because in the first 21 or so episodes, Xuanji is so childlike in her obliviousness of social situations, Sifeng’s devotion can even seem off-putting. And Hao Chen is basically a master gaslighter, so I’d understand if he alone makes you DNF the drama.

I don’t know about tolerating Hao Chen yet, but Teng She (Flying Snake) finally meets Xuanji and becomes more regular than recurring like previously. He’s a delight.

The first 21 episodes are rough because her obliviousness is so very childlike, and it’s unnerving to see that in an adult body. But it gets better after that, after the 21st episode, because she starts getting bolder/rebellious (increasingly no backing down, despite her senior’s attempts to control her … the gaslighting is absolutely insane, by the way) and standing up for herself and SiFeng. I’m on Episode 27 right now.

I’m confused now ??? When did she go to heaven in the specials? And are you saying they didn’t reincarnate into an immortal, or…? cuz, I mean, as I added to my previous reply, the way they ‘become a human form’ again is more like spiritual incarnation (manifesting that body through their spiritual powers) cuz they didn’t reborn through a womb.

Considering she became human again from a lotus flower in the human realm - - this isn’t the same lotus flower that she first sprouted from, nor is it the same human form she gained the first time around … meaning she has a new heart. I mean, that’s how I understood it all. I understood it as a reincarnation, not a resurrection - but that may just be me. Like, if you lose one limb in one life and die, you’ll obviously have both limbs in a new body after reincarnating into that body. And the way they ‘become’ human seems more like manifesting that body through their spiritual powers, since they’re not physically born from a womb.

Title Immortal Samsara: Part 2 Spoiler

Actually, it’s not forced. If you look at the final episode, both of them left crumbs of their primordial spirit (Yan Dan literally holds his in her hand, whereas Yu Mo briefly holds Yan Dan’s until he watches it fly out of the view). The final scene is literally their primordial spirits mixing in the agarwood incense burner that is still burning … … … Also, Ying Yuan didn’t kill himself due to the evil Asura blood; he used his primordial spirit to mend the heavenly barrier, due to the actions of the villains destroying that barrier. Yan Dan destroying the last piece of the lotus heart doesn’t matter, because a physical/corporeal flesh-and-blood matter isn’t who she is. Her lotus heart isn’t the same as her spirit. Regarding the soul and Chinese dramas, I mean, do you have a hard time watching the dramas that explicitly use reincarnation as a plot point and ask “How is s/he alive if their previous body died?” or is it just Yan Dan and Ying Yuan that you find hard to understand?

Title Immortal Samsara: Part 2 Spoiler
there’s two 7-minute specials that take place after the drama’s finale - so with those, it’s a happy ending,…
heck, even tho they reincarnate from flowers, they keep their past life’s memories, and remain friends with YuMo and the others… they live in the Mortal Realm, happily as they always wanted.

Title Boss & Me
I watched this again recently because I felt like I didn't give it a fair shake the first time around, but it…
I’m only on Ep12. With the knowledge that he’s dated several times, long before the drama starts, I gotta wonder if they were all like Lishu or if there were some like Shanshan, because Feng Teng doesn’t treat Shanshan like an equal, but he treats Lishu more like one… he never liked Lishu romantically because he sees her as a sister ?? but Shanshan is the one he wants, but he acts according to his awareness that she’s vulnerable .………………………….… It’s okay to like someone for their pure heart and simplicity, but Feng Teng doesn’t hesitate to take advantage of Shanshan (having lunch with him has nothing to do with her work at the company, and he was manipulative to ask her if she obeyed like it was an imperial decree or if it’s because she wanted to … as if he ever asked if she wanted to lunch with him or not), and he even likes that he can, often smiling when it goes his way or something. The power dynamic in him being the boss of the company she’s an employee in, this shouldn’t have been legal. Also, Feng Teng’s interactions with Shanshan (at least prior to them officially dating) are like him talking down to her, and like they don’t have much in common - I can’t even consider them friends before their relationship becomes official, because at least Zheng Qi treats her like a human being equal to him. At the very least, if Feng Teng wanted to date her, he should‘ve changed her job position to one where he can’t show favoritism…maybe a proofreader and copyeditor two-in-one??? the pay would still be good, and it’d at least still be a very important job

How to turn a 58 episodes drama to 1 hr. 40 min movie? I was curious that's why I watched it, and the answer I…
ikr? if they wanted to condense this story for people who didn’t wanna watch 58 episodes, they should’ve at least made the movie 3 hours and dedicated each hour to the “three lives, three worlds.” It wouldn’t have been as touching as the drama, but it would’ve had better pacing than 100 minutes and more emotional for the viewers. But as it is, there’s too many things happening in a rush for any in the audience to care about the love story.

Yang Yang uses his own voice. Lusi does too. Fun fact, though, Yang Yang portrayed YeHua/MoYuan in the movie version.
@Pingpongball Hmm, that’s interesting, ‘cause there’s no voice-actor listed for the dramas I’ve seen Yang Yang in (including the movie he played YeHua/MoYuan). in fact, WRTL is the only one of Yang Yang’s projects where Drama-YeHua’s voice-actor seems to have voiced. but watching WRTW, i do remember thinking “Is he deepening his voice a bit? maybe to flex in front of Bai Fengxi?” but otherwise it DID sound so similar to his real voice, which leaves me to wonder why they didn’t just use his voice. Or maybe Yang Yang wanted a break from it.

Is the romance worth it/is there a considerable amount of it? I'm on episode 2 and not sure if it will be overtly…
I’ve never seen Love Like the Galaxy, so I can’t compare. But I’ve seen The Long Ballad, and while both aren’t romance-centered, Who Rules the World is better at it than TLB. The pairing in WRTL is also better than TLB. Some ppl have said in the comments below that Yang Yang and Zhao Lusi don’t have chemistry, but I think it IS there, you can see it in the little moments of flirtation and teasing and the attraction. It’s just simply the wrong kind of story for a proper portrayal of romance and really showcasing that chemistry for longer periods. that’s my opinion.

honestly? no. the moments we get are sweet - like the confession, taking care of each other when sick/dying, wanting to get through everything together and always being there for each other & the whole protectiveness of the other - but the little romance we get is as easy as it is non-overt in the grand scheme of the story. most all the hardships come from the politics and war and fighting.
