I watched the first episode but I can't bring myself to watch any more. People with extreme behaviours are either viewed with sentimentality or viewed with contempt. The scene in the police station was such a true to life example of that, drawing out the cornered Cha Hong Do's defiance.
Adding to that the other aspects you mention, plus Cha Hong Do's bitterness towards other people and herself, I thought it was a remarkably 3-dimensional portrayal of SAD.
