Also there is a difference between pure historical drama (chinese term: wuxia) which are usually dealing with politics, and fantasy historical drama (chinese term: xianxia) which is usually less heavy and even packed with romance. So again, just a heads up :)
Heavy Political Historical Drama: -Nirvana in Fire ( a well rounded drama, but still huge cast and focus on war and politics) -Good Bye My Princess (sad, sad, sad, ultra betrayal, amazing!) -Joy of Life (well rounded but focus on politics, mind games, i love the comedy, there will be season 2 and 3) -The Crowned Clown (I postpone it halfway because I am just so.. sad LOL) -Story of Yanxi Palace (harem scheme, Really Smart and Cunning Female Lead, still a good person) Others I haven't watched yet. I love this genre so i think these heavy dramas are just awesome. They have a high production value too. Just a little warning and recommendation for your future watch!
I've got to say, her career is really taking off. From 2017 until 2020 and she mostly played the main role? Wow! And she pick really good dramas too (so far). She is a really good actress, though!
Fun Fact: The first time HSM actually ate on the screen (willingly) at episode 12 with HYJ. And he ate few cabbage leaves before he dumped it in his rice wine LOL He got sandwich, expensive inards, tteokbokki, and other foods and the first thing he eat was cabbage *sad*
Yess, finished this!! Finally, I am so tired LOL. For me, overall, the drama is too weak. They are trying to put political struggle and schemes, but everyone is just too stupid for it to be exciting. There are literally only few smart characters in here, Chu Qingge, LFY, and Gu Qishao, Consort Yi, Gu Qishao's smart maid, and Ningjing. Even some of them are dumbed down in the later episodes. They try to put amazing love story, but nah. Nope. What was that? Obsession, toxic relationship, I mean seriously? Communication, people! Ugh, I am tired. Also, inconsistent plot, average BGM (this grows on me, so), and some bad costumes. I might enjoy it more if I didn't watch it on Viki with the timed comments on (because people there are just so mindful, detail oriented, drama experts, hilarious human beings that I become more mindful about what I watch).
Still, there are some beautiful moments, sweet moments between the character that keep me from giving it a 7 instead of an 8.
Agh, I forgot about this!! I saw the comparison between the Jap and Kor dishes on Youtube and I was so compelled…
Fyi, there is going to be Chinese Adaptation as well. Or have you mentioned above? My bad, I don't read your article fully so that I can anticipate more. Anyway, I am so excited!
