He's type-casted like loads of actors are lol. He's very charismatic, funny, and emotive actor. But the roles…
Yeah, I think actors portray their roles differently like SH's case. But there are some links/overlapping of traits/arcs sometimes. I would like to see him tackle a villain role in the future. His play role next seems very different from him. All it takes is someone to give him a chance to show a different side to himself. He even said that sometimes his nice persona can be a burden if he branches out and does evil parts. Now that S.U gave him his big break, he has to follow up with that with a strong drama/role. From then on, it'll be easier/better to assess his career prospects. I think he has the potential to be a top actor in the next few years, if he chooses his roles/projects wisely!
I guess the director knew that better than us ahaha no wonder he personally casted him and did the shooting around…
Yeah, he never really discussed 2d1n until S.U ended. Maybe it's the cynicism in me, but I hope he doesn't jeopardize his health in the long term. The only issue this creates is schedule conflict, or half-assing his job b/c he has to rush from one set to the next. I can see down the line, it might create conflict for other actors in the show if their ML is not available rn b/c he's off shooting something else rn.
He does variety, theatre, acting, MC'ing, CFs, modeling, heart stealing, and etc. I guess he'll decrease his work load in his 40s then :O
That's good to know on SDM. Hope he chooses well, and doesn't become one of those IT boy actors that's hot rn, and fades after a few months. A new it boy is going to come next yr, so I hope he doesn't get upset when people turn their attention elsewhere. Ditto! Enjoyed this talk!

Yeah, it seems he wasn't that confident about himself to only go for supporting roles, only to end up with 2nd lead roles. If it was on the basis of his acting skills, prob. 1st lead.
Mr. Hong seems boring/empty plot wise. Character wise, it could be really rich allowing him to dig in deeper into his role than before. Link on the other hand sounds more fun/intriguing story wise.
Him and CSW working together would be great!! He would learn a lot from working with him. See, while I agree on fame, he clearly enjoys the perks that come with it. Otherwise, why would he continue to be on 2d1n, and do fan stuff too? His agency is pushing him to be a star, MC'ing, variety show, acting, CF's, and etc. I don't think he has the persona to be a star, a top actor yes, but star hmmm?
As of now, he's enjoying the highs of S.U. Once that ends, and a new IT Boy comes in. He might feel dejected when people start to move on to the next guy, it happens. Hope he doesn't get too worked up on that. It's been 3 weeks since S.U ended. Give it time, I think even he hasn't fully grasped his new found fame/popularity yet b/c he's been knee deep with his play/CF's/etc. Once that settles, and a few months pass by, he'll surely then feel the true worth of fame. With that comes less privacy, more scrutiny, and stalkers.
LBY FTW!!! They looked really good together in that scene. My only gripe is are some people going to be all in arms about it b/c she's older like they been about SMA? Rme.
I guess the director knew that better than us ahaha no wonder he personally casted him and did the shooting around…
He was very lucky to meet a PD who wanted him badly to fix around his schedule. Now I wonder, how the heck is he going to do this going forward? Surely, not every director is as understanding and when he's the ML next time, they can't fix around his timing, as he's the first person on the list. It's like choose a lane, b/c doing both could end up backfiring in the end. I say take up yoga, KSH!! If you need a way to de-stress and re-energerize yourself dude!!
You don't like ksh acting?????????bwahhhhhahshhhThen, what do you like dude????whose acting will you prefer then??eunwoo???leeminho????Suzy???
Uh other than Rain, D.O, Joo Jin-mo, JCW, & NJH. IA with your list. But these are actors that rarely do romance genre, and instead more heavier dramatic fare which relies more on acting/script. I do feel for actors these days, there's not much chances to get a deep/complex role that launches them. Majority of these actors have been given roles that give them the space to showcase their skills, of course bolstered by incredible writing/directing.
I don't get it why people like KSH. I watched him in 3 dramas he's acting and looks same in all 3 drama. I like…
He's type-casted like loads of actors are lol. He's very charismatic, funny, and emotive actor. But the roles he gets are similar shades, all Nice Guys who are cold but soft on the inside. I mean his role in SDM and SU, seem to be two sides of the same coin. (Even is called Good Boy in both!). I think he wants to try and challenge himself, so in a way it bodes well for him. Hopefully he'll choose interesting roles/works, and diversify his range. I can totally see him becoming the next CSW or JJS in his career.
What a lovely comment. What I like about him is he's not chasing fame or clout. He does his job, and takes time…
"That's why I think he has strong potential, along with a few 20-something actors, to become a big and long lasting star - and not just a "trend". " Exactly!! It's far more important to be a long lasting actor than IT Boy of the Month types. He takes his craft seriously, and has charisma too. For someone his age, he seems thoughtful and mature. This will bode well for him in the future, because he can do more mature/complex roles. True, military adjusting period is very important. Hope he takes his time, and comes back with a good project! Imo, Duel was his best performance and role! I liked him the most in the 'Evil' role.
The funny thing is that the writer took a masterpiece (a really good story) as Cyrano and tried to add a kdrama…
I think he has to be careful though. Sometimes I feel like even though the interpretations are different, sometimes his characters over lap with one another. Ex. Poor Family Background, Cold on the Outside, but Soft on the Inside, But Warm to his Loved Ones, & Good Boy (SDM, someone calls him Good Boy). He's not a versatile actor, a likable and dependable yes, but not much variety.

I think his theatre background gave him a good footing. He interprets a script in multiple ways, and thinks about his line deliveries and how to get the right tone. That's also true, he thinks a lot about his choices and tries to make it human. He did say the roles he likes are the ones where he feels this person can exist in rl, are the ones he likes.
He's also very fortunate to meet directors that encourage and even allow him free reign to improvise and ab-lib. In Strongest Delivery Man, he said the director was unsure of his portrayal at first, but got it by the 4th episode. His co-star Go Won Hee said they did a lot of ab-libs that ended up being cut out.
As for him, a lot of the roles he got prior to Waikiki 2 were through being referred to by fellow actors or directors. So if he had a proper agency back then, he would've advanced faster. Hopefully now that he has choices now, he can have a bit more leeway in choosing better/quality scripts. He would know since he studied or worked on making scripts back in college.
You got me here. I stopped watching romance dramas for two years because I didn’t find them interesting anymore.…
See while he is attractive, its not like he's NJH's levels of model like looks. He has a more boy next door type of vibe. I feel like actors who do romance fare end up being measured by shipping them with their FL, than their acting. He has to do romance roles to gain more popularity, but I hope when he's in his 40s, he pivots away from that genre into more deeper/dramatic fare.
Chemistry of the leads? Do you mean in terms of visually? Or acting wise?
I get it too. I think they had a more understanding relationship. I think KSH's baby faced looks and youthful energy make it hard for him to be cast alongside an appropriate FL. If they go with someone visually compatible, then their acting lacks, but if they go with someone more experienced, visually, it lacks.

I saw a few episodes of Coffee Friends, and yes he was fabulous! A complete and utter sweetheart <3
