I think she's a pretty good writer a lot of her dramas are popular ... just saying
Imo, she's one of the best at writing romance/finding love again relationships/shows. She writes the best rom-com dramas rn, and they are always filled with heart.
I really like our main couple despite the bad circumstances in which they met. Very sweet together, and I love seeing them thaw out from their pain. Yes it is melodramatic, but very fun and moving story! A show that I was hesitant on, but its quite good and never boring! Reminds of the main relationship in My Ahjussi. Soul mates that have each other to stick through together in this harsh society.
Remember back in Ep 4 when Oh-won (Choi Won Young) said in his dissertation that multiple versions of someone…
This show at 20 episodes would have been perfect for expanding more of the world of Alice, oh well. Definitely one of those cases, where the writer/PD were ambitious and tried to reach hard, but didn't fully succeed. However, it does lay ground work if someone else wants to tackle this again in the future...
I can see. It's like a K-drama melodrama with sci-fi in the background lol. I just hope the last 4 episodes expand a bit on Alice, the time stuff, and Min-hyuk.
After so many episodes we still don't know much about alice and its motivations. I think makers have messed it…
The writer said that he did that purposely so people are mind f'd. IA. The show is called Alice lol, and we still don't know much about Alice beyond the description on SBS that says "It's a hotel for time travelers who use it to go to the past to rectify their needs." However, imo, I think Tae-yi 2010 version created Alice, and the original motivation for it has gotten lost and taken over by someone sinister. The only person who is oblivious to this is Min-hyuk, but he's slowly waking up. I bet ya, the last 4 episodes are bout to jammed packed with answers/backstories galore oof lol.
Someone please explain. Why they have to go through all this mess just for that one page of prophecy book when…
Tae-yi the version the show presented us a lot with (2020 version) hasn't regained her full memories yet with the Book Of Prophecy being stolen in 1992. Thing is the little girl who has the last page is her, and I'm not sure if that girl grew up to be Tae-yi in 2010 or 2020. Jin-gyeom doesn't know the 1992 storyline yet to go back to that timeline and obtain the book, and Alice team now knows about him/his powers so they are out to get him. Meanwhile, Min-hyuk hasn't read the Book of Prophecy so he's in the dark about it. I think once the trio knows/realizes it, they'll put an end to Alice/time travel (?) or parallel universes (This is confusing lol).
Remember back in Ep 4 when Oh-won (Choi Won Young) said in his dissertation that multiple versions of someone…
I feel like K-drama sci-fi's rarely work. If time travel is there, its more of a plot device than laying out the groundwork. I'm still enjoying the show, and staying for Min-hyuk (Justice for his character!). If Alice was a longer show, it would've helped this show with laying out more groundwork but I'm worried that 4 episodes (4 hr 30 min), that if we'll even get an intel on that?
The rules of Alice aren't very clear imo. I just know that The Book of Prophecy (Hints towards Jin-gyeom) is about time travel, and the boy who grows up to be a time lord. Maybe this is more in line with Signal/Tunnel sci-fi as in the rules of sci-fi there aren't explained to us, but instead used as a way to establish more suspense/drama.
From Alice, are there any positives that you've about the drama thus far? Any aspects that still draw you in? Any tangible time travel theory you can conjure up from this show lol? I didn't see Dark, but I heard Continuum and Alice are the more better comparison than Dark since it days with parallel universes and having two of the same person in one universe.
I definitely agree about the plot dragging a lot. Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening and we have a filler…
I see. I think there is a great story in here about family figures/family that transcends both time/space. I think if this were a film, those elements would come out more tighter. The show isn't perfect, but I'll say its unpredictable and trying to do a genre that's hard to pull off. If the last 4 episodes are great, I won't say this was a total bust.
He gets raped. Maybe not anally but still the guy pulled his pants down, and started dry humping him until he…
Yep agree! Def. leaves you thinking and lingering about the film moments after it ends. Very raw and haunting. My congrats to the director/writer and cast esp. the two male leads!
Remember back in Ep 4 when Oh-won (Choi Won Young) said in his dissertation that multiple versions of someone…
Imo, the rules of Alice weren't made as clear unless I missed something. All I know is that the Hotel Alice time travelers abused their powers, and created clones as a result of their time travel. In this show, the action of their clones don't affect them in the present day timeline (2020), but it does in their timeline as evident by evil Jin-gyeom clone in the preview for Ep 13.
Just curious, but in your opinion, what did Alice get wrong about the multiverse/time travel jargon that has made people confused? It's not as confusing maybe not as clear cut, but there is a story there that's just been a bit lost with the filler scenes in prior episodes.
I definitely agree about the plot dragging a lot. Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening and we have a filler…
I assume SBS being a network show pushed for 'romance' and light scenes to counteract the heavy darker stuff. I believe if you take out 6 hours of filler content in this show, and the 10 hours we saw here would be great.
It sorta does because in Alice, when a person goes back into the past. You end up creating a parallel universe, and another clone. Remember when Jin-gyeom went back to 2010 in Ep 4? He woke up and boom it was 2010. I think that in this period, something occurred and he ended up creating an evil clone.
I feel like eps 11-12 pulled Oprah, but instead of cars everyone gets a doppelganger xD
Remember back in Ep 4 when Oh-won (Choi Won Young) said in his dissertation that multiple versions of someone can exist. Sun-here (The mom who came from the future 2050 to go back to the past), Sun-hee was able to kill her 2020 self without it affecting her 2050 body. Which makes me wonder how many doppelgänger's are there of the people who traveled in the past? We saw Tae-yi, Oh-won, and Jin-gyeom with dopplegaggers. Now I wonder if Min-hyuk's will as well. I can definitely see how doppelgängers in the Alice universe have been greedy with their time, and that has left to complications and bad consequences had they not gone back to the past.
In the drama, Shi-young even says that going back to the past is useless. Min-hyuk as well said that traveling back to the past creates consequences. It seems like Alice was created with good intentions as Min-hyuk said Alice was created to heal past wounds, and allow time travelers to go back to the past and rectify their wounds. Unfortunately, this opened up a door to another parallel universe (time dimension) where a doppelgänger was formed, allowing for havoc as they continued to be on borrowed time creating more problems down the line.
@ElBee Great explanation btw! IA. I think that these doppelgängers are wrecking havoc, but the original characters don't know about what they're doing because they're living in different universes. However, the clones will affect the ones in the timeline they're in , and thus create more discrepancies down the line which in turn is going to affect the present day characters lives.
He gets raped. Maybe not anally but still the guy pulled his pants down, and started dry humping him until he…
Np! Yeah I can't even imagine being in that scenario. Awful and traumatic. If there was a sequel, it would prob. be about his PTSD from the rape :( And how it affected his sexuality. Gah :''( Maybe Korea wasn't ready yet??
The director said Kwak was very green as he did this as he left military. So he learnt along the way in this film. Such a shame that both actors haven't gotten big offers since this film, altho at least KSY shows up in dramas/films. Here's hoping, b/c the promise he showed here was amazing/raw.
I definitely agree about the plot dragging a lot. Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening and we have a filler…
It's shocking to me still how a show like this could be pre-produced, and have filler moments?! Like, K-dramas edit as they shoot, so it feels a bit sloppy on their part.
I definitely agree about the plot dragging a lot. Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening and we have a filler…
The show was pre-produced in Dec. 2019-August 2020. Unfortunately Covid 19 struck Korea hard around late Feb-March. I seen some green screen for the cars. I wonder if the filler scenes were just there to make the viewers distracted? It wouldn't be a K-drama without filler/dragging moments.
Am I the only one that gets the feels whenever Min-hyuk and Tae-yi are on-screen together? I feel this deep love between them. There's this force that's pulling them together, and it reminds me of the love line in Dark City (Great film btw!). By the fact that he loves her, but whatever shenanigans happened in Alice have separated them. Also how both of them have feelings that arise whenever they meet, but they can't act upon it. Esp. Min-hyuk's unwavering love for Tae-yi. It's probably the most romantic storyline in this show imo.
I give credit to both Kim Hee Sun and Kwak Si Yang for portraying those romantic love torn feelings on-screen. Esp. to Kwak Si Yang for displaying the feels whenever his eyes go soft when he sees Tae-yi, and now Jin-gyeom. It's not easy to establish as a character which could be played as one note, and make us feel for him to get his family back.
Also I really hope that we get answer to how Min-hyuk and Tae-yi joined Alice, and how they started to fall in love. More backstory on Min-hyuk would be nice, the writer did say this is a Family drama, so if he keeps to his word, I hope that means we see Min-hyuk's side in the last 4 episodes.
Ive just finished watching this brilliant film its so raw and true (the only thing im getting abit confused with…
He gets raped. Maybe not anally but still the guy pulled his pants down, and started dry humping him until he either bled or felt sore. The aftermath scene with Yong-ju falling down in an elevator was haunting. How the F did Kwak Si Yang not move on to bigger roles in films from this film? For his 1st lead role, he did amazing. Very expressive actor.
I can see. It's like a K-drama melodrama with sci-fi in the background lol. I just hope the last 4 episodes expand a bit on Alice, the time stuff, and Min-hyuk.
