having a family member that also suffers with mental illness, I sympathize with Nut 100%. Dealing with such a complicated and nuanced issue can put such a strain on the entire family emotionally. While Nut definitely has some anger issues he needs to work out, I can understand his feelings of exasperation, pain, and frustration.
and can I just say that I love how it's clear that Nut and Ken are gay? (ken's parents trying to hook him up with a boyfriend was so cute) like i'm all for shows that depict people falling in love regardless of gender bc it can and does happen, but in a genre completely built on lgbt love there seems to be very few characters that are explicitly written as gay.
Oh, you nailed that way more succinct than I ever do! Good for you! I was so heartbroken when this plot started…
no yeah like they're giving tutor and yim basically no material to work with so i'm basing this on nothing but vibes but I like that nuea seems to stand up for kuea (god knows he doesn't for himself) and im a sucker for an enemies to lovers trope
lian and kuea's relationship trajectory makes no sense 😠lian is mad that kuea lies to him so instead of talking about it like a rational person he kidnaps him, emotionally manipulates him into submission, and lies to him even more. I was so excited for this show i'm mad they fumbled the bag this badly. I better get a nuea / syn spin off because at this point they're the only thing im tuning in for lmao
once again I feel like im watching an entirely different show than some of the people here because I thought this was the best episode yet lol. this was a character development episode for mon, meant to show why he seems to walk around with a storm cloud hanging above his head. this episode actually solidified mon as my favorite character so far as I found the reasons he gave for quitting the basketball team- which in turn allowed such strong feelings of self hatred to manifest within himself- very human. I really felt for him and I loved that he felt comfortable enough to open himself up and be so vulnerable with soh. you can already see that mon cares for him and i'm excited to see their bond grow.
I love that Mon isn't your typical smiley, picture perfect protagonist. depressed, introverted people exist in real life and they deserve love too. I think the actor is actually doing a really good job playing such a closed off reserved character in such a vulnerable way.
im curious to see if saint is going to be the typical romantic rival to soh or if he's going to take on a more antagonistic role with mon.
on the flip side there are some scenes that are definitely drawn out too long but that's common practice in almost every BL so I usually just ignore it. I thought there was some really pretty cinematography this episode, you can really tell the person directing this had an actual vision for the show versus just cashing in on the current BL craze.
I always say im not gonna comment on every episode but then I come here and see all the negative comments and I feel this urge to offer another perspective lol. this isn't the best BL out there but I do think its one of the better ones
I absolutely agree with everything you said.......is Toh the healthiest character out there absolutely not.....he…
nuea is JUST as creepy as toh and I think that's what so many people are missing they're both bananas!!!!!! I love them so much they're such an unorthodox pair, usually the main couple in a BL is pretty predictable in their characterization and actions but these two actually keep me guessing. I loved yyy too and Its funny you bring it up bc billy looks a lot like Yoon from certain angles.
am I the only one here who likes toh as a character? he's absolutely obsessive and oversteps his boundaries but nuea knows this, enjoys it, and initiates all their interactions. he's definitely not as creepy as some of you make him out to be. is it the foundation for the healthiest relationship? of course not but their dynamic is very entertaining and I like that you can see how they're both very infatuated with each other and the different ways they go about expressing it. a recurring theme is how toh tends to try to immortalize his experiences whether it be with pictures or keepsakes instead of enjoying them in the moment and being present, and I think that's very human. I hope in future episodes we see him coming to terms with this and why these mementos are so important to him.
love the bit of depth added to jao's character body positivity isn't usually a issue talked about too often in BLs so I was pleasantly surprised to see it dealt with here, I hope that isn't the end to jao's character development. I didn't think I was going to like Sky's character all that much but he's proven to be really sweet and genuine.
honestly this show is executing its concept far better than enchante (which is being carried entirely by force) its aware of exactly what type of show it is while not taking itself too seriously. I would say it borders on the satirical, it's almost meta. I feel like the rating is far too low. at this point if you still don't like it id just stop watching. everybody in the show is gay and on crack and I don't see that suddenly changing any time soon.
wow I really watched this on a whim with zero expectations and blew through the first 5 episodes. Mork is an angel and I will burn down cities if anything bad happens to him. the actor does an amazing job of getting his emotions across facially, you really feel him falling for Tawan. shot very well and honestly each relationship if somewhat fresh none of them are too cliched I was pleasantly surprised.
Umm what is it with the rating?? Probably just me but I love it so much based on the first episode. It's got the…
"if some people bring up the problematic heteronormative trope of CBAW then others can also bring up how SE is just another masc4masc BL." but now we said it!
I would understand if you compared toh with mork from fish upon the sky but I don't think jaeyoung and toh can…
I'm not saying either show is moralistically better than the other or trying to compare them i'm just trying to point out some of the hypocrisy in the comments below. regardless of romantic intent jaeyoung was still harassing him and the show is romanticizing it. like I said it's a romantic comedy and within that genre there's a lot of room to explore more eccentric characters and situations and I think both shows do it really well! I think there's always room in the bl industry for socially conscious dramas like not me, ones that try to authentically show the truth of the lgbt community like sunset, and then silly little rom coms like crush :)
I just want to say that some of the people here calling noh 'creepy' and a 'stalker' are on the semantic error page calling a character that does almost the exact same thing [in a more malicious way] boyfriend goals lol. they're both romantic comedies and both not to be taken seriously I just feel like people are harder on this one for some reason. like if we're counting red flags I counted just as many watching jaeyoung go after sangwoo. I like both of these shows and think they're both funny and entertaining and constructive criticism is very important but i'm seeing a lot of straight up hate and hypocrisy in some of these comments.
I must be built different than some of the people here because I thought the basketball game was the most compelling part of the series so far. it not only showed the development of the team narratively but it also showed how important the game was to thorn and fah's bond with each other. this episode was shot gorgeously and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I don't really care for sports- I fast forwarded through all the basketball scenes in 'don't say no' lmao. this was THE climax of the show and everything they've been training for has been building to this moment, so idk why people who've already sat through 7 episodes of a blatant sports centric show are shocked to see that reflected in the storyline.
I feel like a lot of people here are being kinda harsh on some of the characters for really superficial reasons. mon is clearly an introvert who probably leans towards depressive tendencies especially after the loss of his father and his main passion (basketball). is he a bit of an asshole to soh? absolutely, but its only the second ep and you can see his attitude already starting to change. this is definitely a story about people and their growth both internal and with each other and yeah that's gonna lead to a slow burn of a romance, so if thats not for you I would just find something else. I think soh is really sweet in looking out for mon, but also apologizing when he realizes he's assumed to know things about him that he doesn't. I also think criticisms about their chemistry is weird considering we haven't even seen them behaving as friends like of course there's nothing there right now this isn't an enemies to lovers where the sexual tension from the get go is a key component to the relationship. I thought this episode had a lot of pathos actually, and I'm curious to see where it goes from here
I kinda wish they did the whole Peat Sean cheating storyline without having the extra drama of him lying about his depression. I thought it was really refreshing that they had a character who struggles with mental illness as so many in the lgbtq community do. that being said king's friends are ride or dies- breaking and entering into peat's apartment just to prove he's a lying bastard is top tier.
and while I definitely think it could've been written and executed better, I don't think Valen's mistrust in Kaitoon is completely unreasonable. kai's been caught in many compromising positions and it all just kind of came to a head all at once. valen already has many insecurities and self worth issues he's like one of the only characters whose writing has been consistent for the entire series.
Where to start with this mess… I feel like a lot of people are ignoring the problematic nature of this show…
no one is watching this show thinking 'oh this is a healthy and accurate portrayal of love' its clear from the start that toh is obsessive and creepy but its a comedy its fun you can be aware that what he's doing is wrong realistically and still enjoy it have you ever seen a rom com? gay or straight for better or for worse they're all filled with cheesy or problematic tropes its just the name of the genre, some pull it off better than others but here we are. its like YOU on Netflix we all know Joe is a psychopath and a murderer but its entertainment and watching him kill people is fun. I know we all consume media differently and everyone has their own opinions but its just not that deep, if you went into this show expecting an realistic portrayal of the lgbtq community and not for the mindless entertainment its clearly aimed to be idk what to tell you.
this show is high camp if you don't get that you're watching it wrong lmao. toh is absolutely insane but I find him really endearing and I love the irony of nuea maybe being just as obsessed with him too
everyone complaining that they cant enjoy the show because we all know Theo is going to end up with? like of course he and akk are endgame but y'all can't enjoy the mess? the best part of any rom com is watching the two leads struggle with the obvious feelings they have for each other and the journey it takes to get there. at this point I don't think theo or akk are aware of the feelings they have for each other but akk is definitely about to have a breakthrough in the next ep.
akk's bitchface is legendary.
I enjoy the 4 enchantes interactions with each other more than with Theo, phupha and natee have good chemistry im excited to see more of that in the next ep.
the dome / vee scenes are really so stunning from the directing to the cinematography to the acting their scenes almost feel like an entirely different show. the way you can feel their UST and want for each other despite the distance between them in that first scene is so insane.
first of all I just want to say phupha and his pants stole every scene they were in
I definitely think the 'who is enchante' mystery is a red herring and the real story will be something along the lines of each of the four using Theo in pursuit of their own ulterior motives (which is a twist I did not see coming) and akk acting as his protector so to speak. the story is basically paralleling the little Prince book they read growing up where Theo is the prince and akk is the fox. the whole point of the fox's character is to help the prince see truth.
I love the little Easter eggs like the poster of phupha in the library its all very cute I hope they keep It up.
