I don't like romeo & juliet type of plots where families are used to keep the couple apart. it's overused and cliche at this point. I kind of hope that preview was used to throw us off because I feel like this drama so far has avoided most cliches.
Ep 22: Director gives insight into the romantic petal & boat scene (unfortunately there is no eng sub for the…
oh yes I saw a really nice analysis of that scene and I didn't quite understand why she was sad when I first watched that scene but I later realized that scene was a continuation of their travel since the previous episode where she was already moved by his words about her family and their future. She was just really overwhelmed and wondering if all that was happening was a reality and when she saw him again, she realized it was. This scene was really well acted by LYF.
I really like Qian Fan's dad! he's so funny sometimes but I also understand his sadness now. I still don't quite get the political subplot but this episode was better than previous when it comes to this particular subplot.
the boat scene in episode 22 omg swoon. also did anyone notice Pan Er looked kind of sad when she sat back into the boat?
Yin Zhang is annoying me I'm sorry I need her to grow up asap because I feel she will go along with that Shen guy (because she's desperate to leave behind the profession) and make a mistake AGAIN.
I'm still not feeling Chi Ya Lei (or whatever his name is). So far, his scenes just seem like comedic relief and don't serve any purpose to the rest of the story. On the other hand, I really like Zhang Hao Hao, she was giving some good life advice to Yin Zhang this episode. Listen to her girl!
the chemistry! have you guys noticed how many natural interactions they have? like Qian Fan likes to hold onto Pan Er everytime they walk down steps, or how he likes to lean into her when he talks. Man it doesn't even look like two actors because they're so natural. It's hard to believe ML actor is married irl.
no cause fr like how do you even hate an actress for acting well like her character asks her to and i feel like…
I understand she's naive and I also think Pan Er is doing too much by treating Yinzhang like a child but I'm referring to Lin Yun's interpretation. She gives too many deer in headlights reactions and also has a tendency to keep her mouth open all the time. Her acting has no depth to it so far, like even during eps 4-6 when she had all those big scenes. I guess we can agree to disagree.
man you guys are lucky you don't read chinese and can't see some of the stupid discussions taking place on weibo/douban/bilibili. this drama's success has given rise to so many antis who have been incessantly hating on this drama in the past week over dumb reasons like the leads virginity

hmm I don't hate her but imo she is the weakest link in terms of acting. I think her character has been given more to do so far compared to say Sunnang, but Lin Yun so far hasn't been able to show much depth. She's playing the character too naive to the point that Yinzhang just comes across as slow sometimes. Having constructive criticism isn't a bad thing. Criticizing her looks is wrong though.
Ok ... i have a small nitpick on the way Jelly Lin was fake playing the Pipa (I think it is PiPa) ...the way she…
she's holding it the right way according to the time period. she also took lessons. I think the biggest problem is the audio doesn't match her playing which is more an editing issue.
The reason why I love this drama. Their communication and conversation was a top notch.. No BS, no 10 episodes…
right? I was pleasantly surprised because I watched this writer's other drama (legend of luzhen) and it was soo annoying how the ML & FL constantly argued for episodes on end.
