Correcting the synopsis: Female lead is a week dork who gets to misunderstand, stab (multiple times) and let the enemies get the only one who protects her through the entire series (multiple times) because she's also an idiot

Seriously, the only good things about this drama is the hot male lead and the outfits

Watched it again... I still hate the mother, but the other things are alright. It's not a great drama, it's like one of that cheap chinese costume dramas - this kind of drama doesnt want and dont try to be great, it's just supposed to be fun - and it certainly does the job. I'm keeping my 8 rating.

Ayyyy I watched this show many times and not even once I thought she was using Ye Hua. Asking some favours is using?
He was the one to approach her every time. He was also the one who willing did somethings for her she never asked

She had always being the problematic arrogant kid, she never had much of caring side that we associate with mothers. Because of how she tried to kill herself and then chose to forget everything, I think she lost the timing to develop this motherly side - which would be when A-Li was still a baby. She still loves him and all, but Ye Hua assumed this role in A-Li's life.

On your comment about status, you didn't take into account any of the story settings, such as a society based on caste and clan system, with rigid rules and rulers and in an old age.
On your comment about the villains, you didn't take into account how the characters around them reacted to their bad doings. People scolded and were against the emperor's absurds as much as they could. And Sujin was literally banned and punished for all of her mess.
Your talked about Ye Hua being abusive to Bai Qian, Sujin, his mother and kid. Wtf did you take this bs from? The only person he truly hurt was Sujin and with all due reason.
Bai Qian surely is arrogant. She also isn't the perfect mother model because of all she have suffered. But cruel? Where?
Funny thing is that being such a big brain as you are, you didn't realize the real red flag: Ye Hua felt so guilty by how Su Su ended that he actually became obsessive about her. The way he didn't mind his life as long as she was alive and happy, this shows Su Su became his only reason to live - a toxic relationship. Is it her fault tho? No. Is it his then? Neither. If we must blame someone, we could blame the Lord Ghost for making her human. Or Sujin for being a disgusting btch. Or the emperor for allowing Sujin's bs.
Anyways, the drama is great. Try your bs with a real problematic drama.

He's older than A-Li by some years

The thing I remember to hate the most about the original version was how the ML didnt seem to give a f about the FL until he found out who she was. His feeling was all about the past. So I really love how they are showing here how he gets awkward every time Randa goes out of the character, and how he's falling for Ploy again for just who she is.
Randa, tho, is an ass. She doesnt respect her friends', hers' or Kawin's feelings. She needs therapy.

I honestly couldnt care less about most of the secondary characters, I just skip most of their scenes. Now I just want to watch the cute mains

Sometimes I really wanted to scream with Xiaoju so she would pay attention to Lu Shiyi, but I still don't blame her - you can't expect someone to just let go of her first love that easily, specially when it's someone you have in your daily life. I really appreciate the development of the drama - although it was a slow burn, I had a lot more fun than felt frustrated. Surely I wanted more of them a couple, but they already had such a strong couple chemistry as friends that I'm not mad, I just wanted to watch more of them.
I also wish they'd give Cheng Lang a happier ending, he deserves someone too :(
Everything else was amazing. Acting, development, songs, directing. I'll miss this drama a lot
