This is the most beautifully styled Dilraba drama I’ve seen. She looks absolutely ethereal here.
personally i think she looks the most ethereal in love in the turquoise land tho that is modern drama :)

well well, so you're a novel reader? please tell me will they have any big misunderstanding and be seperate for…
iirc nope!! separation wise maybe for some time when she didnt want to give him a chance to date. tho i do think it get slow when the focus shift to the war in the middle but overall i really love the novel.

i only read it once tho so my memory might be wrong!

THIS IS SO GOOD I COULDNT FIND ANYTHING I DISLIKE FOR FIRST 4EP.

genuinely so happy that they seems to be closely following the book (AS IT SHOULD) pretty visual, pretty cinematography, pretty ost everything is pretty. and i really love dilireba as he simu, i have missed seeing her in this character.

and both leads used their own voice right? i personally really loving it esp for he simu, fits the setting so well, i hope in mandarin they also did it well :)

i dont understand why wang pu willingly follow xie huaian plan to poison yan fengshan (to which he poison himself), he can just choose not to do either, story is shocking but was it that shocking to the point of killing yr ownself? did he do so bc he was so sad and hence cannot serve yfs anymore?

omyy can u tell me wht really happened in the novel?
anyway i really recommend reading the novel, i personally love the realism of the character, everyone is flawed but they all have growth and really loving the storyline, ji bozai do grovel and suffer a lot, mingyi make him wait for 10 years, so i went from not wanting them to ever get back together after his betrayal to 'fine' tho if i were to choose i still prefer they went separate ways.

what i do love tho once ji bozai became emperor he became someone who gave power to women, like school, facilities etc (i dont remember exactly what he did) people might be turn off when we say he is a misogynist but taking consideration of it being back in thr time, the mindset is common and fitting and he may change bc of mingyi but change is good regardless and he is a person with power who could do a lot to change the mindset of ppl at that time about women

ji bozai was a misogynist (not a raging one but the typical men mindset in the past) he is the type who believe men can have many women but woman must have chastity iirc, and even when he fell for her, realised he made mistake, he seems too egoistic to apologise, but he did aologide with the mindset of 'im doing you a favor' so it actually took him a lot of growth to really see her as equal.

when he finally did, and they get together, fight alongside each other and win together, he betray her by marrying the princess, which everyone in his households know (and everyone in the town) except her. this is a betrayal that me as a reader take it personally bc i love his growth, but reaching this part is like me being betrayed personally and im glad mingyi left him. so to sum it all, mingyi do lie a lot for her secret, but it never as bad as ji bozai did.

scrolling the comment and it make me so mad people are angry at mingyi instead of ji bozai. this is why the adaptation is bad, they make ppl sympathise with ml instead of fl when she is the one being betrayed by him in the novel. when he is the worse person than her in the novel.

lol people on the comments would be more frustrated if they ever read the original novel.. cause the entire story…
situ ling screentime should not be the problem, it is the writing of his character. your concern is misplaced.

situ ling is such a good character in the novel they have to make him evil to make ji bozai more likeable. such a shame bc i was expecting this drama a lot. i love flawed character so eventho i hate ji bozai betrayal i still love how he is written in the novel.

some people say novel is red flag or toxic but it potray good storyline and better character writing, tho i do appreciate the changes for our he nan x yan xiao cp. good example of changes done right.

tbf i think situ ling role is still quite big, considering that i only remember him out of the two leads, of all many characters. he saves mingyi multiple times and help to make ji bozai felt jelous (after he wronged mingyi first) he is like mingyi shield against ji bozai, and i never ship him with mingyi, but i wish he has better ending in the novel. and i wish drama changed the story in the sense where he dont have to fall for her, nor did he became a villain.

i absolutely love the novel bc of the rollercoaster it gave me. i love the dynamicd between mingyi and ji bozai bc one is a seductress and one is a womanizer, mingyi developed some sort of feelings but she aint naive to think ji bozai would change. and ji bozai growth in viewing women of that time is satisfying to read, then he hit the reader woth another betrayal which i personally would never forgive him for, and he still think he is above her somewhat, but mingyi put him in place that he has to comes to term to the fact that he has to accept her having harem (spoiler). all in all, this is definitely good read if you not looking for good main leads, ppl may say toxic but i think it shows the realism of character bc we are all toxic, and i love that it took years for mingyi to accept him, certainly there are things i dislike in the novel as well but i truly enjoy the read

[Haven't read the novel but heard a lot about it.]The drama follows the plot more or less, except for the romance…
'havent read the novel' and proceed to say the drama is better........ drama is just another cliche story while the novel is complex, ji bozai was misogynist who shown growth, he keep thinking men is above women and only start to change when he get to know mingyi is mingxian. novel mingyi put ji bozai in his place, letting him know that just bc he can have many women doesnt mean that she cant have many men, and boy have to live with the fact that he is so dirty (his word). the novel shows the realism of the character where humans are flawed while the drama is another cliche good main character story.

absolutely do not trust the comment that drama is better and just try the novel yourself, as someone who doesnt love cliche stories, and love flawed character the novel is sooooo much better and well written, personally one of my fav chinese novel, bc i just love how real it is. the drama just take away the uniqueness and the realism of the character, and had to turn someone who isnt a villain into one just to elevate the main character. based on what i have seen, the drama has no different than other cdrama plot (as in the core of it). if you looking for a good main characters maybe the drama is for you, but if you love realism and flawed character who shown growth, the novel is definitely for you
