yea shes great in this and so is her character. i feel it also has a lot to do with the scriptwriter not giving her character any leeway into being anything but someonenwe can root for in terms of her reactions to everything. bless him for that!

same. i couldnt stand her in most of her roles except as Mudan. shes done very well in that. all her other roles i feel she pushes into "arrogant cow" territory way too often (hello the pain that is ashes of love)

interesting story, stunning costumes, well acted (except that bug eyed consort wtf was that? she should quit acting), but as always muddled, poorly scripted and dragged where not necessary, but cut short where it could have served better to elaborate.

not enough background on ML or FL characters to make you really feel and understand them (hence all the hate and confusion towards the FL in the comments - noone understood just how hurt she was because our ML in the first life didnt love her whereas she loved him - director so mildly skipped over that, it didnt create the impact needed to understand her long apprehension against the ML in the new life and why she couldnt trust him - weird considering the theme of the show is her trust/control issues and yet they gave very little insight into her reasons - they brushed past it but not enough to build a character anyone would root for - i simply didnt like her personality - but yes her anger at ML was definitely reasonable - most wont even go back after such an embarrassing past life - but she just loved him too much to let go).

cheesy ass death scene in final episode made me have a fit of laughter - very 1990s melodrama and completely unnecessary - it was second hand embarrassing.

scriptwriter fucked up massively giving very shallow dialouges to deep characters - making them flat and boring (ie bad or good or just plain stupid rather than flawed/grey etc). crown prince actor was really cool - he played innocent with a hidden aggression so well (even when he was in the second life - you could see something boiling beneath his naive smiley eyes - well done to him). ML also did a great job playing a very cool character - but i agree with most - wish he'd be given some more respect and allowed to be in better dramas.

overall could have been a really good show if someone with a bit more passion for on screen story telling took this over.this director wanted to paint a pretty picture but completely ignored the essence (script editing etc)
id recommend you watch this once cuz its different, but fill in the missing pieces in your head so certain things dont frustrate you (also watch some of their reactions closer - ie FL was totally only ever in love with ML and it was obvious if you paid attention to her reactions, but the director made it so obscure that most ended up angry at the show as you can see with comments below)

unpopular opinion - i actually sided with the emperor and crown prince when they went on their rampage - all those people except perhaps ML deserved to be exterminated considering how awful they all were at one point

meh story that tried but couldnt.
convoluted storyline. started out well, but failed utterly later. they threw so so much at the story (family snake pits, obsessive ex, random business, side characters galore, evil ministers, revenge, hidden identities and i could go on) but failed to deliver on all. too much happening in just 40 eps, therefore nothing was properly fleshed out making it all utterly boring. lazy writing

romance? non existent. it was fun watching them be siblings but then it all lost steam. not even sure she liked him. not sure why he liked her after a while. also - FL was cunning and shrewd enough to dismantle her family (she ripped that snakepit apart swiftly) - but when it came to absolute shithole of 2ML she.....angrily whined 🤣 i was surprised she didnt foot stomp also. worst 2ml by the way. mopey, not very smart, and entitled/arrogant - but not in any sexy way like some folks mentioned below - in a very pathetic way. was very hard to watch him be this sap with zero personality. they wasted giving us a villain - he was just...this shallow shell who wasted screen time

wouldn't recommend watching unless youve got absolutely nothing else. youre not missing out (although oddly enough ML seemed physically more comfortable with this FL than my preferred "are you the one" - and here we could see him actually fight). FL was weird - i like her but at the same time feel she didnt deliver (acting wise). she felt like she was reciting her lines during the first half, and then during the second half where she got better with line delivery, her emotions were very unclear. weird. love ML actor and feel this wasnt a good enough production for him to be in.

yea ive been so disappointed by the big name dramas this time - so much drama shoved into a tiny time frame sometimes without any logic. its clear audiences dont like that - if you go by the ratings (best rated shows are the calmer ones without misunderstandings) - but for some reason production houses still insist on torturing us

does ci sha not get tired of playing these pathetic mopey 2mls with zero essence to his character outside being obsessed with the FL? he does a very cartoonish version of it as well. another show ruined by misusing its opportunity to give us a clever villain, and instead going down the easy "obsessed with FL" route. they didnt even try give him a brain, and ci sha certainly played the part as if he didnt have one. if it werent for the story and lines he was reading, id assume hes a complete moron in this show

awesome show. very interesting main characters and premise. absolutely loved this quirky ML - great actor with awesome comedic abilities and serious dramatic abilities. FL was amazing - tough but elegant in everything she does - without resorting to being bratty or irrational - loved her and love this actress. had so much fun watching their journey. theyre the kind of characters you really miss once the show is over.

it went a little stale during their separation (too many other character stories that really didnt matter) - leaving some of these unnecessary bits out could have shortened their separation tbh (i agree in terms of THEIR timeline how long they spent apart, but disagreed with how long the show spent on it).
also the ending was hella rushed in the sense that they threw every idea in towards the end and had the biggest climax happen in the last episode which was not the tone the show was set originally - i found that weird. the show had this lulling calm tone despite all the lying drama - but in the end turned very.....typical - lost its unique touch so to say.
also,the MLs best friend and his girl story was completely unnecessary and not interesting in the least tbh- wasted time - for those who like to ffwd - they would be your pick to ffwd on.

the main couple had awesome chemistry together, but i have to note they were very cardboard about any physical closeness between each other - given how well they acted - it made their awkwardness and stiffness around any physical interactions too noticeable tbh. also, the fighting scenes didnt deliver to the level of the show - i was a wee bit disappointed that both main characters arent the best at their fighting scenes - not because i feel all actors should be flawless in this - but because i loved their characters so much - i would have loved to see them be awesome in their fight scenes - it would have added to their charm

empress and emperor were interesting. wished they fleshed them out a bit more. heck id watch a separate show just about them tbh - its a new twist - there isnt any love (from him) but wonderful appreciation where he still puts her first (we usually get a complete disposal or crazy in love in these emperor/empress shows) - and that dynamic would be fun to watch - to see how it evolves - their weird kumbaya stare at each other in the end felt incomplete. theyre worth watching.

overall definitely recommend. its got great laughs, fresh takes, and lively wonderful characters and great acting that isnt run of the mill. would love to see both mains (whether together again or separately) on screen waaay more often. ML has a very bai jingting feel to him - similar approach to acting with his own comedic sass.

wonderful story; light in its delivery but entertaining - lots of dramatics but nothing unbearable - and VERY easy to watch tbh,. (ie you wont feel frustrated by any of the twists and turns, you wont feel irritated by choices/reactions+ no overly dramatic melodrama for the sake of drama)

awesome couple - who look and act comfortable with each other. noone is annoying or stupid without reason. every secondary character is tied to the story directly, thereby not wasting screen time just cuz (as is done often). definitely filmed by a short drama director as this was like watching a short drama but that lasted ages - the editing and story flow was to the point and without any filler or lingering (its not the most immersive experience -BUT this guy made it work) - usually oddly edited scenes that skip certain events feel weird in all those badly edited shows - but this guy made it work very well without taking away from the show. no ffw was even necessary. again thanks to the director for not wasting any of our time on useless secondary couples/characters that usually add nothing to the story but take away time from our main story/characters. definitely recommend this one

props to the ML for pulling of main character very well - hope he stays the main character in his upcoming shows.

i still blame the director - theres no excuse for making auch mediocre crappy illfitting dramas. whether jeremy or anyone else was cast - the shows absurdity and ill fitting characters just make no sense...director failed to deliver entirely. yes its a shame jeremy is shoved into things like this but thats a whole other ordeal to unpack. this show particularly failed all over with or without jeremy (altho of course directors massive blunder was also in his mismatching character decisions and his failure to read the lack of balance between jeremys strong serious presence and cartoon like everything else).

its so stupid cuz we watchers arent that shallow/insecure 🤣. fine make them unlikeable if thats the thing theyre used to...but dont make them have IQs that fall below 0 - its painful to watch 🤦🏻‍♀️

this was truly touching and Lin Yi did superbly well. its definitely heartwrenching to watch. definitely cushion yourselves with some fluffy lighthearted dramas if youre not into sad ones (like me but i was really tempted to see Lin Yis take on this). his best friend was amazing as well. so were the rest of the cast - aside from FLs best friend. i wanted to slap her hard. she was unnecessary as a character and her behavior was not realistic or acceptable by any standards...not sure why they included this character in such a wonderful show. definitely recommend if you can handle sad stories. big applause to Lin Yi and Sun Tian Yu. Landy Li was wonderful as always.

besides my small rant below - definitely worth the watch. and wait for it.....BOTH LEADS WERE NORMAL NICE PEOPLE. there was no smug aggression and pointless hatred. there was no arrogance. no entitlement. no whiny bratty behaviour. noone was stupidly shy. noone was scared of sitting on the same couch together. noone flinched at some random finger touchign. they genuinely were nice and considerate and became actual friends - and acted liked normal people. noone fell in love cuz they touched elbows for two seconds..they actually connected as two people. Yes if had a ton of cheesy over the top moments but the way the characters behaved smoothed that over. characters were all fun. the FLs sister story was so boring and didnt connect with me at all so i skipped all her nonsense. wished the end didnt shove so many uninteresting character stories either. but still worth the watch for the main leads. ML was very charismatic. FL was adorable as heck (cept that weird scene in the beggining that i mentioned below)

definitely worth a watch. entertaining as heck (but yes it does have a ton of facepalming moments and exaggerated parts - BUT not in a makjang screaming aunties style - just overall storylines sometimes are too exaggerated). STILL worth it. Tan Jian Ci and MLs Mom acted their hearts out in this. it was awesome to watch such flawed characters but u couldnt help but root for them. good one time watch. glad i spent time on it (barely used the ffwd button - only on FLs sister/her hubby story cuz shes so bland and not at all worthy of rooting for tbh and hes just meh).

yea he is known for his no kissing clause. some speculate its because hes married...some speculate its his wife insisting. i have no clue and dont care tbh cuz its his choice...like in this story i felt he delivered well enough for me not to care about these clauses...but there are shows hes done where you can see he is not comfortable with proximity..i really like him as an actor..but i do see his hesitation sometimes in any close-to-FL scenes..

i agree on falling into you being better but i wouldnt go so far as to say its not even 10% as good. i enjoyed this. it has its own charm albeit it has its own potholes too. to each their own

lol sometimes dramas attempt to make FLs endearing but get lost and introduce them as complete idiots instead 🤣. so instead of telling ur dad that ure eating with a potential interviewee - you prefer to LOCK him up - after youve already fucked up under the guise of righteousness (my ass - it was irresponsible thoughtless reaction) ?! youre an adult, with an adult job. if you cant adult (my papa will misunderstand is the stupidest crap ive ever heard) - go back and live with your parents - or get a job that doesnt require being social(or one that is ok with you bringing sick notes from your mommy and daddy). that was such stupid behavior they wrote for her...if she was a high school student - fine...but this is a whole ass adult woman behaving like a grade A moron. if the roles were reversed we'd get a foot stomping mad FL who would take lightyears to forgive the ML (meanwhile assuming hes a cold asshole for half the show) and everyone would say its still not enough 🤦🏻‍♀️
