I'm wondering why the scriptwriters of these BLs are usually so hellbent on following the novels to the letter.…
OMG! We ARE so on the same page! I also don't care for the Tum/Tar story, as well as the Kla/No stuff creeping me out as well. Unfortunately, the rapist/victim frenemies to lovers is NOT a new concept. However, if you're going to put that mess in the series, at least use it as a teachable moment -- let No get a some retribution for his "injury," and let Kla receive some consequences for his "grievance." THEN, after that, maybe a situation leading to some forgiveness, possibly leading to something more. I still don't like it -- but, at least I could accept that a little better. But, I tend to forget that Thai culture is a very distinct culture.
I'm enjoying Tin/Can in LBC2 as well (although I still like their first version a little better!) lmao!

My thoughts exactly! Where is the artistic license?? FYI, another reason scriptwriters need to have at least some artistic license is because much will go on in the novel that either can't, doesn't, or won't come across the same onscreen. In a novel, you can use (and are often times are supposed to use) your imagination to fill in the blanks. Onscreen, you have to show what's going on or at least explain what's going on through the characters' dialogue.
I'm not sure about MAME. I've heard the name and read (second hand) some of her reported views, and to answer your question -- I'm not sure she has THAT much creative control over the production. But, if they do continue to follow the novel this much, Pete will be back (as well as Trump). Unless they're going to recast Pete OR make that story a LBC3??
Well, well, well! I'm not really going to comment on this ep. 8. Because, although I don't really like this storyline, it does, however, really follow the novel. So, I guess I can't really dislike it for that reason. I'll just say it at least follows the novel!
The bad editing and dragged out scenes are legitimate criticisms imo
You're correct. I totally agree. Many of the criticisms are legitimate, the editing, dragged out scenes, timing, etc. However, we all can still choose to enjoy the series (or at least some of it), even with the criticisms. Right?
I don't think so. There was a BL a few years back in which the characters did get "married" and then one of the characters died very soon after. I wish I could remember the name though.
There are many criticisms of this show, which may or may not be justified. But some shows are just meant to be enjoyed, not necessarily analyzed, discerned, methodically detailed, or examined for ultimate correctness. Sometimes, a show is just for a little humor, laugh and entertainment. I totally agree that this series is "campy," a little "off-beat," and possibly somewhat politically incorrect at times. But, it does have some "heart," and an occasional "feel good" moment. Therefore, I suggest that we watch it and try to enjoy it OR not watch it and move on to the next BL. P.S. The song at the end of the ep. (played also during the love scene) is absolutely beautiful...
Okay, my comments, for what they're worth...I love the Tin/Can dynamic, because it's unlike anything else we've…
Wow! Interesting as usual. I totally agree with your assessment of the Tin and Can's characters. I also agree that theirs is a very complex relationship. I don't recall Can punching Tin in LBC2? Which ep. was that? I missed it. I do recall the punch(es) from LBC1 and I liked that about Can -- although he's naive, he showed that he wasn't "afraid" to defend his friends and his perspective of loyalty. I'm not so sure that dynamic of Can's character is really reflected in LBC2. Who says you can't be child-like, naive, and yet still be brave enough to stand up for your principles. However, I'll defer to you Synchonicity -- IMO, your assessment of the Tin/Can relationship is pretty on target. I just hope that you are also right regarding the treatment of the "rest of the story" by the writers and director. I also hope they don't follow the novel "too much."
Geez! You're always 1 step ahead of the rest of us! LOL Great points!
P.S. Did you notice the big "hickey" on Sky's neck during that recitation with his mom! lmao I'm wondering if that was intentional subtlety! AND, how come mom didn't notice it??? lol
Well, honestly, I don't really have an distinct opinion about this ep. Story-wise, I thought it was a little bit better than just OK. And yes, it follows the book probably much closer than the Tin/Can relationship in LBC1. However, IMO, I thought that Can's character in LBC1 had a little more quality than this Can in LBC2. Yes, Can was naive and silly when it came to romance and love. But, really, what 19/20 year old kid really knows ALL the ins and out of love at that age. Also IMO, a little naivety made Can seem a little more real than the other characters in LBC1. And yes, the other characters in LBC1 fulfilled the wants of the fans by being cutesy, overly dramatic, yada, yada, yada. I actually didn't like the portrayal of Can in the novel, because he was portrayed as extremely naive, as well as a sex-crazed bottom-boy wanting to do nothing but sexually please Tin (just because he lost a football game!) Now, that's drama! LOL I actually, can't wait to see if this series follows the rest of the novel in its completion. If it does, it should be quite an interesting ending. LMAO
Love by chance2getherSotus2moons2Tharantype.History - crossing boundary etc
Good selection! However, I personally didn't like Tharn/Type (due to all the tropes, stereotypes, rape, and sexual violence, etc.) . But, to each his own.
