I agree with you, especially regarding Kla/No. There's just no reason for that storyline, unless they were going…
You're right. I also like some of the story. I'll just have to put my memory of S1 aside and enjoy the show. But, they do need to move the story along. I'm really intrigued about Tul/Hin. As you allude to, it might just be the surprise storyline.
Well there is no way to fix the rape unless they would have erased this storyline like TinCan (this is the only…
Actually, Kengkla did NOT acknowledge that he did anything wrong! He asked what he could do for "forgiveness." He NEVER actually apologized or even attempted to say he was sorry for what he did. That's completely different. AND, they could've redone that whole scene if they wanted to. But, they didn't. Oh well.
Wow! All the varied comments! I'm not sure I agree or disagree with any of them. BUT, they're all interesting, for sure! For my part in this whole discussion, I've stated before that I'm not a big fan of "redos." (especially, when they're redoing parts of the original story and not redoing it all). Like many of the comments posted, I totally agree that it's too confusing, messy, and lacking cohesion. Furthermore, we're expected to forget important parts of S1 that existed (the redone parts anyway), and expected to just accept the character and story changes (without any explanation). WOW! The producers, writer, and director really missed the mark here, IMO. I don't think the changes would've been so bad, had the production company gave just a little more explanation as to what is currently happening. As one poster commented, they could've used a little creativity and come with something better than what we've gotten so far. Now, as for those who like the changes better, great! None of us should be "haters" of those who actually like the changes. However, those of us who don't like the changes, feel "cheated" (at least I do) for what we believed could've have been a much better series, worthy of a S2. Now, back to commenting specifically on episode 4. Interesting! If I hadn't seen S1, I probably could've and would've accepted thess scenes a great deal more. I liked the inclusion of the Tul/Hin story line. It could possibly shed some light on why Tul's so hateful towards his younger brother (i.e., older brother forced to marry, have kids, etc. and hide the fact that he's gay scenario). I could even see how Tin's character could be "softer, kinder, etc.," while Can's character is little more "inviting" to Tin's advances. But, there was a S1, and we DID already see these characters already established. I would love to wipe my memory clean and start over. But, I'm unwilling, because to do so would be ignoring those parts of S1 that I actually found enjoyable to watch (even if they were sad at times). But, the part I'm NOT willing to "let slide" is the Kengkla/Techno plot line. I'm sorry, this is just wrong on sooo many levels. Not once in that ep. did you here Kengkla say "I'M SORRY!" But, yet, he is wanting Techno to forgive him! AND, to make matters worse, his OWN BROTHER knew about it and probably allowed his brother to be RAPED! I think this makes Technic worse than Tul. But, more importantly, this is a SICK story plot, for sure. The rest of you can continue to watch that sickness. But, for me, NOPE! I won't give credence to that kind of sickness, not even in a BL drama. I'll simply skip over those scenes entirely. Sometimes it's good to vary from the novel.
It's not the worst but it's also not the best. Now that we've seen the final episode I think a lot of the negativity…
Yeah, I agree. Wasn't the best, but not the worst either. It might have done better as even a "more mini series." Maybe, just 2 or 3 eps, or even 1 like they did in ReminderS and Skyy. Sometimes, lesser is better! lmao!
P.S. Also in agreement with My Day. Wow! It really sucks! Too many tropes, stereotypes, and useless exaggerations..
It's what some of us have been saying all along: IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! "No mo' bromo!" Now nobody can argue anymore…
Totally agree! The final episode, IMO, was probably better than the whole last 4 eps of S1 and the first 4 eps of this "S1+." A little intimacy, a little bit of a story plot and a little connection of the characters is all it takes to make a decent ep.
I think both sides of the argument about Tin/Can in season 2 of Love By Chance are very valid. But more than half…
Wow! What an interesting post! You made a great deal of sense, especially about making the story work with the creativity of the writers (and director). However, I would slightly disagree with one little thing, Can. IMO, Can's character was a little "off" as well. His character was no where as "timid" as he is portrayed in these early episodes. And, I think that Can's character was at times the comic relief the series needed. I don't see that in these first two eps. But, everything else, I totally agree!
Not that it makes it all better, but I'm pretty sure Techno was referring to the morning after and not the night…
You may be somewhat right about the actual incident. Although Techno's first words out his mouth the morning after were "my b*tt, my b*tt, and Kengkla telling him that they "did it." I agree you about the non-com fantasy issue. But, IMO sexual assault of any type (especially towards someone incapacitated) is just so wrong on many levels. And you're right about its prevalence. And, I think you may have seen my comment about the sexual assault of Type by Tharn (and fans dismissing it and giving Tharn a pass). I believe this is one of the reasons its still so prevalent -- let the couple be "cute, attractive, or adorable" and the sexual assault in okay. I'm just smh!!!
Totally agree with you about Techno/Kengla. For me, that was the worst part about LBC1, and now they're just making…
Yeah. I thought it was just so wrong on many levels. That pushed some of the advances that Thai BL's have made back at least the (5) years I mentioned.
I also find it disturbing that some BL series ignore the criminal act of rape. The one I thought even more extreme…
You'll get no argument here! But, unfortunately that behavior (both evil and criminal) has existed in the BL world for far too long. And, you make a very good point about forgiveness and the value of forgiving the rapist. However, I believe that due to cultural differences, rape, sexual assault, etc., may not be viewed as the ugly, heinous crime that other cultures may view it. Because, it really creeps into the BL genre a great deal, or at least it used to. I just hope that those fans who actually like seeing that kind of thing become fewer and fewer. There's my two dollars worth! LMAO
Agreed. It's going to have some unfamiliar elements but who'd want predictability, and seeing the characters again…
You're soooo right! In LBC1, we got to see the progression of Tin and Can's relationship evolve and change over time. I really didn't see their story line as "enemies to lovers," but more "rich man/poor man." Guys from two different worlds. Tin was never really a "bad" person. He was simply stuck-up, snobbish and had the battle scars of his not so loving , albeit privileged childhood. And Can. He wasn't really just a comical airhead, but a guy who could actually see the good in people and had a good sense of family (something Tin admired and possibly envied of him). NOW, IMO, that was a good story! Finally, I'm not sure they could top that "Tin crying" scene at the end. It was great!
I do like that they changed Tin's brother. Unfortunately, I'm not so sure about the "re-do," especially Can's…
Good point. I just thought the show was trying to replace Pete with a "Pete-like" version of Can. LoL I remember that about Pete in the novel as well. You're absolutely right.
I've already posted my dislike for "redos." Although, I don't really have a problem with "reboots." I'm just a…
P.S. FYI, I sometimes hate having to have to use "Reveal Spoiler," especially when posting about shows that have already been on and gone... Anybody else feel the same! lmao
I've already posted my dislike for "redos." Although, I don't really have a problem with "reboots." I'm just a little confused as to why the "redo" was done (or even needed) for the Tin/Can story (and not the others). IMO, from a plot standpoint, it's confusing and unnecessary. But, I'm NOT the writer or the producer or the director. It's their call, and I can choose whether or not I will watch it -- AND I WILL WATCH IT... even though I'm not necessarily happy will it. LoL
I said the before mentioned thought to make this point: WHY NOT A REDO ON THE TECHNO/KENGKLA STORY! IMO, again this story needed a redo! Given how far BL's have come in just the past (5) years, it was TOTALLY unnecessary to throw in another "victim falls in love with his RAPIST" story line. It added absolutely NOTHING to the original story except disgust, dislike, and disdain from many, many, many fans. THEN, to have the raped character "infer" (in season 2) that the act "felt good" was just a bit too much, even for a BL
OK, I'm now off my soapbox. Haters can now start hating! lmao
Agreed. It's going to have some unfamiliar elements but who'd want predictability, and seeing the characters again…
Okay, I can see that as well. I'm not necessarily against re-do's. It's just that if you're going to do it, why use the same actors??? Admit it, it's hard sometimes to see "familiar" actors/characters (characters we've come to know, love, or hate, etc.) suddenly become "different" characters within the same story plot. Then, slightly change the "plot" of the story (that we've already seen) to help reflect that change in the "new" characterizations. Again, hmmm!
These kinds of changes may be interesting. BUT, they're definitely confusing, sometimes challenging and occasionally irritating. IMO, if you're going to do a redo, then really "redo" it. Make the story different enough to be a fresh story, and similar enough (to the original stody) to bring out just enough of nostalgia to get the audience interested in watching it. Basically, like they did with 2Moons and 2Moons2, and just about every reboot done in Hollywood in the USA. I'm just sayin.... LoL
