I previously commented, that IMO, Reset was the best Thai BL of 2025 so far. Here's more clarification on my reasons why:
1) It had great acting, action, great mystery and an interesting storyline. I kind of liked how they integrated the Thai belief of past lives and rebirth (next life) into this series. 2) It didn't have many (if any) of the traditional tropes and stereotypes many Thai BLs are plagued with having, such as, medical students, engineering students, university or high school settings, and an overly prevalent top/bottom/hubby/wifey theme. 3) It didn't use the overly dramatic "misunderstanding" plot theme we see in about almost every BL (not just Thai). 4) Finally, it showed that the actors could do a BL with characters being and behaving as "adults." Believe it or not, "boys eventually grow into men" and at some point in their life should begin acting and behaving as adult men (instead of overaged kids).
I would also say the same for "The Ex-Morning," which was just as good covering the things I just mentioned. But Reset was still in a league of its own.
My Stubborn, Top Form, The Ex Morning and The Boy Next Door are great 2025 Thai BLs too.
Agreed! But I think Reset stood out from your list. It had great drama and action (like a lakorn) without all of the mess that many Thai BLs wrestle with, such as the many tropes, stereotypes and overused misunderstanding plots.
P.S. I think The Ex-Morning would've been my #2. 😆 🤣
This series feels like a typical bait-and-switch. I've not read the novel, but I have the suspicion the person trying to kill Thap is Karn! I'll be waiting to see if I'm right. LMFAO!!!
The ending was such a waste of time. From what I understand, the series varied so much from the novel that it's practically a different entity. Oh well, such is the life a BL series from Domundi TV, LMFAO!!
Well, it's only ep. 2 and the toxicity, stereotypes and tropes are off the chart. LOL! Let's not forget the bad…
I like your term better, messy. 😆 I have no doubt that this series is going to be very messy. It started with bad vibes, IMO. Also, the medical student/engineering student stuff has really played out (been overused). It's no longer about quality BLs, but making money off the ships. Thai BLs are really pushing the envelope with the ships, the pretty boys, the sex scenes, and cookie-cutter plots. BUT, if this what their audience wants, this is what the production companies sell.
Episode 2 even better than the first one. Don't understand the hate of some here. It's a really cute show and…
