I wonder how strict Chinese’s censorship can be that the writer/director had to add a female in an otherwise entire male cast. Is there something wrong with a team of male detectives? They didn't really give her a storyline. She's in every episode thus far few minutes here and there walking, talking, makes me wonder why she's even there. It’s just weird and out of place. Don’t get me wrong. I’m a big fan of RM. She was also a guest role in a crime drama recently. Even though she was in only last 4 episodes, but her character was pure badass. Here, not so much.
I’m enjoying the drama and reading comment section. It was fun and peaceful until …. My two cents There is a distinction between bromance and same sex romance. The first comment seemed to imply the comments about bromance and chemistry here as same sex romance which is not true. If you have Netflix and have watched Band of brothers, you can see truck load of bromance and chemistry between the guys. Bromance, friendship that lasted a lifetime. And that’s what we discuss here. Saying China is not going woke because they banned “BL” is not completely true IMO. Same sex romance is a fact of life. Nothing is wrong for the entertainment industry to address that. To completely ban is to the extreme. But then again, we talk about China so no surprise. Only when it becomes “in your face” everyday then, it’s woke. Speaking of woke, nowhere is more woke than the US, sadly. Almost every primetime TV show has same sex relationships. Primetime TV where all US families tune in and imagine little kids watching two guys or girls kissing.
The reaction of court lady Dong after finding out MW is a she was not as explosive as some may think. Probably she knows the King is still in love with MW whether she or he, no difference. And what good for her to reveal MW identity to the court? She may hope MW would be executed. But then the King would try with all his might to save MW. Oh well, of all these miserable characters, she is the most miserable.
This drama was posted on X by @cdramarumours then most likely be true, since this melon only posts the most reliable rumored news. But of course the cast may change. A good mix of non-idol and idol dramas will be good for Dylan.
It got distribution license last year. There's rumor airing in March
Couple of melons on X like the link below. The drama's super talk also said it got distribution license. I don't know how C-ent works. We may see it next month or next few months. https://twitter.com/Allcbizmelons/status/1734514008559083910 Either way, there should be few dramas coming out in March that can keep us occupied,
Misunderstandings were finally unknotted in today's episode. What's next for the King is to deal with his evil uncle, his secret, and the fall out of MW's disguise. So far he was in control and on top of everything. Not so sure how he could protect her. Stay tune
I'm waiting for the weekend. Hope it's getting better as the 2 eps last Sunday were a dud, a complete disappointment. We had a watch party and at the end we were like, hm that was it? 😒
A lot of complaints about FL's acting. And no, constructive criticisms are not equating to hate or bashing. The actress has been in a lot of high profile dramas. So I assume she has to be great to be casted, or k-dramas are like c-dramas where look triumps acting? She's beautiful for sure. However, her acting is limited and it's just obvious in this drama where the ML's acting is second to none. The King's eyes, facial expressions are like he wants to eat her. But her face shows nothing, just teary eyes. It's like the King falls in love with a beautiful robot or mannequin 🤣 . Other cast's acting is better than hers IMO. Take the Court Lady for example, she creeps me out when she's on screen with her murderous looks. Or the Grand Prince, I tear up when he cries whereas I feel nothing with constant teary eyes of the FL
The last 2 eps are boring. There's not much going on between the leads as we expected. I mean like glass half full. The story shifted to palace politic. And the FL didn't even have much screen time at all. And I don't really care about her revenge plot. There is no logic, merit in it.
Hinted through out the drama until the rain confession, the whole episode 8 showed how deep the feelings the King has for MW as a man to a man. But then, it's as far as the drama can go about same sex romance I guess, and so has to reveal her identity. Or else what's next? They can't show the King trying to intimate with MW, can they? kissing or hugging or whatever 🤣
Are you saying that if she had not kissed him he still would not have harmed her?
I think so. He's so in love with him/her that I doubt he would follow through with his threat to kill her. As for her, she knew he has feeling for her but I doubt she knew if the feelings are deep enough that he would spare her. Kissing him was like she herself expressing her feelings and also hope the mutual affection would be strong enough that he spares her life and protect her. Just my thoughts.
For these cross-dressing dramas, either the woman reveals her identity herself or certain behaviors giving away her identity. This drama falls into the latter. What would the King do to her? Stay tune. I still think the last wish kiss was a brilliant move from her. Dressing like a man, deceiving the King and the entire Court is probably one of the biggest offenses. With her head hanging in the balance, giving the King the taste of love would save her, maybe that what she hoped for. We know for sure he would never harm her.
Ah, she's scheming alright. Kissing him as the last wish was like sealing the deal. Made it impossible for him to kill her. We know he wouldn't since he's deeply in love with he/her and didn't even try to hide that fact. Still, I'm skeptical about a happy ending for them. They have too many enemies.
what the King's reaction would be when her identity is revealed? Let speculate either he would be falling deeper in love? or love turns resentment, turns hate... how dare you fool me all this time? something along the line.

Other characters are great even the little Grand Prince.
