The writer didn’t deceive the leads. KTR knew the ending before the beginning. She knew that a breakup was to happen.

She also said she felt sad & empathize with the viewer who loved HD & YJ as BaekDo & she would to have support them too as a viewer. And that she is also sad about the outcome in the end.

Even NJH got emotional & teary eyed after the 2009 interview scene congratulating HD on her marriage. That it was hard & he wish to see HD.

So yes they knew the outcome but you can see that both immersed themselves & really loved playing these characters together & had fun!

Because a breakup has to happen because they don’t end up together, but yes I agree, 15 ep of characters development & progression is what made HD & YJ each other’s support. So the 1 ep of breakup feels abrupt. I know shit happens within 6 months but would like to see their relationship explored more than just distance threw them apart.

They definitely were a pillar for each other. For the happy times but it when things get tough, they weren’t which was evident in ep 16. Wish the writer showed them tried at least once before breakup given that they were so emotionally attached to each other & were each others support/understood one another in the past 15 Ep . But breakup has to happen.

Everyone loves NJH & KTR’s performances.

Also people have different opinions about the last Ep & the overall drama. I think it’s interesting to see people various comments.

HD aged looking different at 36 but YJ stayed looking 33 at 39 lol.

That’s what I’m saying the memories of him, not him physically. Because yes he’s not obviously.

Like Yurim wasn’t a nobody. She had a huge life changing impact in her life. You think she would speak of Yurim at least once.

I don’t think writer cheated the viewers. Moreso, the writer created an illusion alluding that YJ was still present in HD life hence all the things related to him in the present (the shop name, red car, rainbow theme) which yes, his memories of him was. So the memories of YJ definitely holds a lot of weight to her.

For me, HD was idealistic when she was young but became more rational while YJ was rational became more idealistic. The writer basically made YJ a martyr type figure.

Like I want to see them “adulting” because it’s suppose to be coming age story but we didn’t really get to see that when they became adults. Honestly would have like to see HD do more stuff than fencing & being around YJ. Like pick a few hobbies, college work, apply for a job. I don’t know something lol. The writer didn’t know what to do with them once they became adults. Mostly at YJ room or just drinking out. We didn’t get to see how Taeyang squad phase out from each other after 21 either?

Having them be teens for 3/4 of the show
didn’t helped.

Another thing I didn’t like was how much they drink when TaeYang Squad became adults. It’s like the writer couldn’t give them a hobby or an group activity instead of drinking out? Like movies night scenes or theme parks? Lotte Mart? Karaoke? Like c’mon. 😒

Y’all I lost it when YJ bent down to tie HD’s shoe 😭😭😭😭😭.

It’s funny because no one dies on this show yet it was still heartbreaking lol. I cried a lot.

Seeing them angry was something else gahhh I couldn’t watch. It really hurts.

We all have different opinions here about the last episode. So it’s nice seeing everyone’s perspective on it.

I mean this is the comment section, people can say whatever they want. No need to tell folks to get it or move on.

They have a strong bond. That was just not only romantic. Like it transcended romantic love & was so much deeper. So the breakup was hard to watch & sad that they didn’t reconnect as older adults & be friends.

I have to give kudos to NJH & KTR for making us really believe in their love.
