At this point it’s not really about the age-timeframe now or anymore lol. In ep 8 before the confession, you can see he doesn’t like when HD avoids him. He grabs on to her backpack & tells them they should walk home together. HD is trying to avoid him but he pulls her in.

She tries to give him the money & leave but he insist he doesn’t want it because he wants her to be there when they buy Icecream together. Then he proceeds to wipe her face (where there wasn’t even icecream lol). Like all these little gestures to a 18 year old confused teen whose never falling in love, it gives off mixed signals. And at this point, it’s obvious that YJ likes her in a romantic sense already but plays it off as teasing because it’s revealed the next Ep that he does love her(platonically-romantically).

I honestly think YJ already knew how HD feels about him the moment she saw her listening to his old tapes with his ex GF. And SW said that HD was listening to his tapes. Because when she went to the bathroom he literally went to find her. YJ didn’t even used the bathroom lol. He went out immediately the moment she left. Ep 8, there is alot of touch-physical moments between them initiated by YJ.

That’s why I said it would be nice to show him contemplate his actions more when he’s around her since he’s wiser in years-older.

I love BaekDo but when you have a character set up with these principles in mind, you have to follow through & well the writer didn’t really and now it’s kind of late lol.

I feel like if they show YJ contemplate & struggle with his (romantic) feeling & actions more it would actually give him waaay more depth than how’s he’s presented because atleast I know he’s thinking about it.

I also think the writer was trying to say ‘oh here’s YJ an adult & HD a highschool student’ & have him explain ‘oh this is to celebrate his job and they are seeing each other as reporter & fencer’ but the thing it doesn’t work lol. It’s like she’s trying too hard to have these boundaries set up between HD & YJ but the framework for it is not it lol. Things have been crossed already the moment he confessed lol since technically he fell in love with HD at 19(18). Also, he seeks her out & doesn’t like it when she avoids him.

Yeah I know. It’s not a date as in romantic but I’m speaking more so the way it’s framed-presented to the viewers. That’s why some people saw it as iffy. YJ appears as an adult while HD is in her highschool uniform. Because the people around them in the restaurant were couples. So it gave that illusion of a romantic date.

Like the writer couldn’t have HD out of her damn uniform lol.

Yep, you can’t setup those boundaries & forget about them. It doesn’t make sense from a writing standpoint. Because the thing is, we don’t ever see YJ contemplating his actions. He just goes with the flow when he’s with HD. I mean if your dress in a suit like an adult &have around a teenage girl, wouldn’t you be more cautious how people perceive you? We don’t ever get to see that from YJ. Like at the restaurant, he went there to celebrate it with HD for his job (not as a date) but as they enter, look at the people that’s there. It’s a bunch of couples. That’s why the framing of certain things feels off.

That’s why I’ve been questioning the writer’s handling of YJ.

I hope he doesn’t kiss her even though he wants to.

I don’t ship actors in real life because it’s not my thing. I find it odd lol.

If the chemistry is fire🔥onscreen, that’s what I want to see. Give me that heat in the show lol.

How I see it, this kiss is more so what HD wanted, not what YJ wanted or expected lol. So I’m glad he didn’t return the kiss(yet) because like you say, he’s been careful to cross that romantic threshold(in a physical way).

Also it’s not as if he didn’t want it. He closed his eyes lol. It’s like he let her have her moment? Making sure this is what she wants. It’s like wanting an affirmation from her side. It’s probably why he said he’ll be fine with whatever happens & asked her if she wants to do something before the world ends? But she said no. So he does nothing. Then he gets surprised by her kiss & he responds with his eyes closed only. If she wants to get physical, then it will be okay for him to do so in return.

I get the feeling his return will be interrupted lol. (Maybe JW comes back or something lol.)

Remember when HD & YJ we’re interrupted by HD’s mom when they both were alone in HD’s house. The tension was so high & he was going to confessed. But then later there’s a more serene & more thoughtful confession with the rainbow with HD & YJ.

Seems like the scene will play out that way ep 13? Honestly I’m actually happy if it plays out this way. It means that there will be a much grander kiss later on where both are ready together in the moment?

I could be wrong though.
