Seen all four episodes and really enjoying it so far! The leads have good performances & chemistry. The story is also engaging.

This drama currently scored an 8.2 on douban which is exceptionally high :).

Was interested in watching this but holy gripes about the recent news. Really sucks for the production team & main cast. They should just recast & refilm like Taxi Driver!!!

it looks so—these were the only articles i could find, unfortunately:https://www.allkpop.com/article/2022/01/gong-yoo-has-reportedly-turned-down-the-offer-for-kingdom-writer-kim-eun-hees-new-drama-evilhttps://m.wikitree.co.kr/articles/724198https://entertain.v.daum.net/v/20220113132207908my…
Would love to see these two onscreen together :(. Maybe the script wasn’t to his liking. I hope it’s good cus I’m a fan of KTR. Hopefully they pick a good actor for the part .

Person Kim Tae Ri
Wow she was great in sunshine. Why she did not get many roles beyond me. her eyes talked
Right, she’s so great.

I think she’s particular in the roles she chooses. I’m not sure how many offers she’s been given or not since the handmaiden, but all the projects she’s been in so far, she plays it 100%.

Gong Yoo is not the main lead, he reportedly declined :(. Oh well, at least if KTR is still the lead. Will watch just for her!

I'm curious to know what Taeri's acting will be like because I've only seen dramas performed from the 90s or older.
You won’t be disappointed. KTR is a phenomenal actress. ;)

I’ve been a skeptic but seeing the BTS in the previews, it actually looks promising. KTR really knows how to play grounded characters with charm & spunk! Period pieces suits her so well. I like the 90’s vibe it has already. Kind of wish they did more with NJH’s hair, like the 90’s split bob or somethin’ but other than that it looks very interesting. I know KTR is gonna rock.

I'm patiently waiting for some fanfic with Kim Hyon Soo and Do Ji Tae. - I've been watching too many BLs lately…
Their relationship is pretty twisted in the HBO remake but their mentor/mentee relationship was very good but leaves a bittersweet feeling in the end.

Is the Korean version good. I watched the Indian version of this show and it was insanely good specially the acting.
I didn’t know there was an Indian version? Is there a streaming site for it?

People have to remember that this is a Korean adaptation so the cultural context is different than that of the US & original UK one. I haven’t watch any of the current episodes but KSH cries a lot because the writers probably intended him to be diff than the other shows. I’m not sure about the UK one, but in the HBO one, Naz is a reserved type of person because of his cultural values & upbringing. Also, the US prison system is waaayy diff than that of SKorea. So the main character in the HBO version, Naz’s quickly learns that showing any sign of fear will make him an easy scapegoat. He’s obviously emotionally repressed but becomes even more hardened throughout the show. His development & transformation is very well done. I’d say if you like One Ordinary Day I recommend watching The Night Of. Riz Ahmed is a phenomenal actor, he makes you forget he’s British lol.

i like to say thats not USA, its actually UK remake lmao
I didn’t see the original British show but have seen the HBO American one and the scenes are quite similar in ep 1. It seems like it’s taking some inspiration from the American version.

Finished the 1st ep. My overall opinion is that it’s okay. It’s bit odd that they emulated various scene by scene from the American one? Even the title OP sequence is similar. It makes it gimmicky. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but the way it was executed feels flat in terms of dialogue & direction lol. Things done in the USA in terms of police system & procedures is much different than in SKorea so I thought it was an odd decision by the scriptwriter & director. The icecream running scene was a bit lol.

Also, why would you place a knife with its blade tip facing upward in your jacket pocket when it should be downward. I know it’s a minor detail but it bugs me since the cop lady grabbed the blade with her bare fingers without any hand cloth or glove which is not what you’re supposed to do lol.

watched first episode of the original version and I really found the set up for him being framed stupid. Like…
That’s the point though. In the HBO remake, the main lead is supposed to be a studious out of place naive college student who wants to experience that sort of thing. The girl he made out with represents that sort of liberation that he is not used to having since he comes from a very close-knit reserved family upbringing & his family only sees him as the “good boy” type. In the real world it’s not uncommon that people do actually have have one night flings with strangers. Naz’s actions makes sense because as a viewer you already understand who he is from the get go.

WOAH. THE FIRST EPISODE WAS SO INTRIGUING!! I could definitely see something like this being a hit in America,…
There’s an American version of it call The Night Of (2016) & it was critically acclaimed. It won major tv awards & the lead actor Riz Ahmed won best actor for leading role, the character that Kim Soohyun is playing.

Title One Ordinary Day Spoiler
So in The Night Of they keep it purposefully vague on who the real culprit is because it really didn’t matter.…
Yep, the way the story was structured, the ending was realistic. The nuance in how his character changes was really well done.

pppfffsshttt well I definitely knew that going in xD, 18+ means it's gonna be a good mature show too.
I havent seen the first ep of the drama yet but The Night Of was really, well- I would not advise anyone under the age of 18 to watch it lol.

Hope viewers are aware that this show is going to be 18+ with mature content given that in the HBO American version, it was really graphic (TVMA+) since it dealt with heavy topics. Im not sure about the original British one.

Depends how they approach the story. ive seen the american version not the british show so im not sure how they will execute the story here. I wouldnt say bromance lol but there are relationships that builds, atleast from what I've watched from the HBO one. It's Kim Hyunsoo and Do Ji Tae.

This at 8.2 and hometown-nothing happens-cha cha cha at 8.9 lmao this site man
You’re comparing apples & oranges. Two completely diff dramas. The reason for the higher rating for HomeCha is most likely due to a higher volume of people tuning in for the show. Also, an 8.2 isnt a bad rating.
