I don’t like medical & military set up but gave the first episode a try. It wasn’t my cup of tea. Just like DOTS I did not watch lol.

LQ is so beautiful (“.0.”). I couldn’t continue SOG lol.

I didn’t read the webtoon so I’m reviewing the show as a drama-watcher specifically. It’s definitely not reaching those ratings but it has the internet buzz. Although I’m not sure which online platform besides tvn & Netflix is it airing also?

Let’s see how it fairs next week.

Great Review! I honestly tried to get into this but the 1st ep didn’t work for me. The set up in particular with the overt militarism. I’m not to familiar with the actors work (did try to watch Lin Qin in the Song of Glory) but it didn’t click. This gave off Descendants of the Sun vibes & I couldn’t do it lol.

Although Lin Qin is very beautiful! She has such a regal look. She suits historical dramas.

Yoon Seo Ah who plays Ji Wan reminds me a bit of Suzy.

Analyzing & critiquing shows is fun & an insightful read, specifically to those who writes reviews & whatnot. Isn’t that the whole point why we have reviewers in the 1st place? To illustrate whether a drama is worth watching or just wasting people’s time lol.

If you want to watch this show just for pure aesthetic by all means go for it. I’m sure SK & HSH are hitting up the buzzworthy’s ranking on the internet although the drama did hit it’s lowest rating at 1.2. It’s luck that it is on JTBC. If it was TVN, it would most likely been canned to 8 episodes or 6. Look what happened to A Piece Of Your Mind. That drama also aired two good looking people stuck in a odd toxic conundrum but it lacked viewership lol.

Lol I had the same thought. They’re both around the same age too. Tall & lean with a small frame face & protruding nose. Although Xu Kai has stronger features.

It’s supposed to allude the idea that he’s a player ambiguously but still obvious. I mean I don’t think they want SK to be kissing multiple people since covid & whatnot lol. Or maybe it’s the direction they decided to go for.

I assume because PJE is a player and so many girls like him he suppose to come off as swooning but SK tends to reads his line with a monotonous tone lol. I don’t feel the swoon lol.

I agree, he’s more sinister. Although his face close ups & his eyes are a bit much lol.

I didn’t read the webtoon so I am not sure if the monotonous is intentional since Song Kang tends to reads his lines like that in his dramas lol.

The irony though, lol it’s funny. I hope PJE gets his patootie handed to him like a stale fish on a cold platter.

episodes is befitting but it probably only needs like 8 episodes. Do I really want to watch 10 episodes of this toxic foolery lol. I hope the character development kicks in at the halfway point not at episode 8 or at 10 :/.

I didn’t read her removing the lipstick as a power move. More so she doesn’t like other girls being physically in contact with him. She actually wants him for herself hence she proceeds to kiss him. But heck I hope she plays with him too lol. Have him strum along how he does to the girls he meets. If he can have fun, why can’t NB. Two can play it that way. As the saying goes, respect is a two way street.

This is only the second episode. Can’t expect her to have a drastic 360* character development lol. She’s still very much insecure.

I thought the first episode was better. It’s pretty much the same with the first episode but more monologues & melodramatic eye staring lol. Although I’m interested in how Sol & JW’s relationship unfold.

2 episodes in & my consensus so far about PJE is he’s the blandest bread. He is simply boring lol. It is either Song Kang’s performance or the way PJE is written (maybe both lol) but SK’s line delivery tends to be stilted & it’s no exception here. There’s no infliction in his voice. All his lines reads the same lol. I’m supposed to believe PJE is some swooning casanova but talks like he’s reading a phone book. The more he talks the less I listen lol.

Also, PJE getting butt-hurt when NB avoid his advances or gaze but he calls girls delusional for being obsessive with him lol. The irony. I thought he likes it casual & fun. NB should play with him, let him feel it in his guts lol. What a turd.

Yes, Wang Kai voice is very sultry! No one sounds like him. I could listen to him like a broken record lol. I’m glad that does his own voice work.

I remember reading from somewhere that it was indeed there voices. That’s why the performance in those shows were so strong.

Wang Kai has the best voice *swoons lol. Distinctive & recognizable. I think he’s another example of actors who voice dubbed most of the work he’s in. His voice is irreplaceable lol.

Honestly I’m not a fan of dubbing but I don’t shy away from watching c-dramas because of that. It’s more so the editing, sound design, and the voice overlay when it doesn’t quite match up with the actors acting/lip moments when it is obvious. It is jarring & takes me out of the drama. But when dramas do have actors dubbed their own voices, it’s really amazing! It’s so much more smooth & I can really feel the emotions from the actors. Chinese actors actually have good voices so it is somewhat bittersweet when it isn’t used for the dramas they are in. Although I am particular when it comes to c-dramas.

I believe Luo Jin dubbed his own voice for Royal Nirvana. I think Chen Kun did so for Rise of the Phoenix along with NiNi too.

But there are dubbed voices from voice actors that I find atrocious because the voice acting doesn’t quite stick lol.

I’m referring to @Suzy comment about the magic system on the show.

I mean if there is no restriction, then anything can happen. Like @Suzy said. The contract is senseless lol.

The way magic works/ fantasy elements on
this show is rather flimsy. As in there isn’t a based format on how things work from the get go but more so things happen as it goes.

Not every show is going to be for everyone but even with its current rating, it shouldn’t discourage anyone from watching it. I watched super high rated shows just to be disappointed lol.

I would prefer a two-episode release instead of one on the weekend for this show. Because of its one episode release & short run of 10 episodes, releasing 2 ep each week might have helped it attract momentum from the audience.

He’s good looking guy. Doesn’t have to try hard to be attractive.
