i wasn't going to say much of anything over here since i already spoke about it elsewhere + i've been trying to process it but uh. i think i'll say this. (mostly taken verbatim from my Tumblr post, a few things edited and condensed)
the f*cked up thing is now that he's gone it isn't going to change anything, not really. we've been here before. there are literal sex offenders and rapists still active getting jobs but we're too concerned about who might be doing drugs. who we can charge with having had a little weed, who we can parade around as a public spectacle, as an example for the justice system, all while the government (and the ones before it) continue to fail to make good on the promises it's made to its citizens. tbh i hope none of you sleep well at night. not the police, not the reporters, not those higher ups who made this investigation into what it was to distract from whatever the f*ck was going on in politics. i hope when you close your eyes you see him. i hope you live with the knowledge that he went off the edge of that proverbial cliff bc of you, the one hiding behind the keyboard, striking the death blow with your words, reaching for anything you could find for a quick headline in the papers. i hope guilt always follows you, down to the time it is time to go in your grave. i hope it f*cks you over, even then. and i hope that if there is another life, another timeline, just different enough from ours, and he is there, that he will never meet you. that life will be kinder to him, in these years, gentler. that if he chooses to do it all again, with his humble beginnings in theatre, join the industry, get married, have childrenβthat he will not have to make the choice that he did, when it came down to it. that he will see a way out, and take it, that someone will tell him that he needs to hold on, that there will be a 'hwaiting' waiting at the end of the tunnel. i hope that God, or fate, or whoever it is over there, will smile, and smile, and have pity. i hope it will be better. if there is not, then, i hope on this side he and his family will find peace. whatever peace he can find. whatever peace can be afforded him.

not to butt in here, but congratulations you're about to be the first person to receive this writeup (that will get published on my Tumblr eventually i'm just lazy sksksksk) bc while that's uh. technically what he said it's more layered than that. did a bit of research and he called Jang Hyun his ζ δΊΊ, or μ μΈ, jeongin. casually translated, it means lover. more directly translated, it means one that you desire or feel attachment to, and in the original root Mandarin usually refers to a party in a secret/extramarital affair, suggesting that their love is something that cannot be shared or would be likely to be shamed for if made public. (this is not a film rec by any means, but see the 1992 film The Lover, about an illicit affair between a teenage girl and wealthy Chinese businessman; in Mandarin its title is ζ δΊΊ) since Jang Hyun was basically friendzoning Ryang Eum for the entire show (rip to Ryang Eum ik that sh*t hurt), i took this as a statement of more of what he WANTED Jang Hyun to be/how he truly felt about him, rather than what he was, if that makes sense. still haven't watched the last eps btw, just caught the clip on MBC's YouTube and a friend was kind enough to tell me the gist of it
