this is what some viewers couldn’t get and complain how she’s suddenly thrived at battlefield and could defeat Shi Hu and Lord Chang Xin. Her skills come from years of experience too and her dad had been teaching her martial arts, it’s not an overnight success. She couldn’t strike to kill them easily, she used her experience as butcher to make her opponent weak first by slicing here and there before giving the final blow.

I rewatched the war scene. So here how the war goes:
- General He and his people protected the city’s wall.
- Marquis Wu’an with Xie troop was in the front line battle with Lord Changxin (not at the city)
- Commandant Li under He troop was in another battlefield which seems more in the deep forest. Probably he’s there to ambush the enemy secretly but the enemy’s number was too great that’s why he got injured badly.
- Fan Chang Yu came to assist Commandant Li, nearest one from the carriage stop and then she headed towards the front line with He flag where Xie and Sui battle were at.
- Lord CX was shocked to see there’s He flag as he thought they’re all at the fortress. He told his troop to stick with their formation to head to the city, though there’s a different diversion from Xie and He formation from what they expected. (Not to waste time fighting there)
- Xie Zheng and Fan Chang Yu reunited and then while both Lord CX and YQ were also busy fighting and heading to the city, our main couple discussed to pick a target.
- XZ fought with Lord CX (quite intense) and CY fought with YQ then got distracted with common soldiers. While she’s fighting the other soldiers, YQ attacked her squad and killed Man Di.
- CY was furious at YQ and kicked him. Lord CX reminded YQ to not waste time there and head to the city to seige it as their troop succesfully climbed the wall but they need reinforcement as the damage was quite a lot. Lord CX also told XZ that they’ve burned the wall and will seige the city soon.
- XZ chased after YQ and heading to the city, and Lord CX pursued XZ.
- Driven by emotion and revenge, CY intercepted Lord CX and made him fall to the ground. Lord CX couldn’t believe that common soldier would dare to do it to him.
- During their battle, CY was almost killed by him at least twice when she got distracted to know about Wei Qilin and when Xie Wu jumped to protect her. Then we all know how it went when she killed him.
- XZ could catch up to YQ and attacked him and wanted to capture him. He wanted him alive to keep his promise to CY for her revenge and peole of Lia’an.
- General Shi Yue came with reinforcement and fight with XZ. Meanwhile, YQ used that opportunity to escape. XZ easily killed Shi Yue with one strike, that’s how strong and glorious he is, not an inch of struggle with such General.
- XZ went ahead to the city to help General He’s troop instead of chasing after YQ to stablize the attack from Sui’s troop from further evading the city.
- We all could assume that Sui troop retreat when Lord CX and general Shi Yue died and YQ escaped.

Things to point out:
- it’s not an easy battle for Chang Yu as she’s not that experienced in battlefield. She’s not the frontliner, but she’s there just to support.
- Changyu didnt wanna seek fame or name when she went ahead to attack Lord CX, but it’s mostly driven by emotion, impulsiveness, and recklessness. She almost died, but her squad helped her and Xie Wu protected her, following order from Xie Zheng.
- Xie Zheng is not useless or weak when he couldn’t capture Yuanqing, it’s a matter of timing and priority for greater cause to protect the city. If young lord escaped, it also means that Sui troop would eventually retreat at the wall.

I guess? Like how many main roads they had in those days?

He promised CY to give him to her, that’s why he wanted to capture him alive and not kill him. When he wanted to capture him, Shi Yue came and attacked him, so YQ escaped. Later on, instead of pursuing YQ, he went ahead to Lucheng to provide reinforcement as the enemies’ troop already climbed on the wall and seiged the city. His priority is to save the city rather than pursuing YQ for revenge. Though Sui’s soldiers already entered the wall, they also had major damage which is why Lord CX asked YQ to back up the troops at the wall and seige the city at first. With YQ’s escape, and Lord CX and General Shi Yue’s death, the enemies’ soldiers would retreat. Even Xie troop arrived late that caused General He’s death because the Sui troop had numbers.

It’s been explained that they’re all heading to Lucheng for the war. It’s just the editing issue that made it seem all of sudden when we knew that she left in the morning, and Qi Min woke up late but still could over pace her when they all met.

He wanted to capture Yuanqing alive, but his reinforcements came to save him and XZ’s priority is to go to Lucheng instead of chasing Yuanqing, to stop the enemies from further infiltrating the city and harm normal citizen, as they already got into the fortress.

At first I thought the same, but if we think about it, she had been held captive for so long for months, so I guess we could all assume that she had meticulously plan the escape and she could succeed this time because Qi Min lowered his guard down when he finally told her about his backstory and all.

She got her reputation at the camp when she got the food supplies from the enemy and then killed Shi Hu (a man who could kill thousand soldiers alone). When General He tested her skill, he knew she had potential that’s why he gave her the armor but the choice is hers to join the battlefield or not. Those who first joined her and supported her were her people from the village (carriage scene), there were massive recruitment in her village, remember? So they knew her capabilities. When she knocked down Commander Li (she’s wrong for this), there’s no other authoritive figure that the common soldiers could follow. They knew that General He trusted her, that’s why they (including Li’s troop) all follow her.

She’s not their strongest asset, she’s there to assist, that’s it. She joined the front lines later, it’s Xie troop that lead the frontlines. When Lord Changxin said they would lose as the fire broke down Lucheng, Xie troop went there to help and only few people left there. Lord Changxin also pursued Xie Zheng to Lucheng city but Chang Yu intercepted due to her recklessness and hot temperedness. We could see that she’s not skilled enough that she almost got killed and Xie Wu is now injured to protect her.

I stated all those scenes not because I hate his action, but more to say that Xie Zheng is also a complex character and he also has his cold, cruel, fierce and obssessive side and his character shines as ML. His love towards Chang Yu is indeed deep enough that he would kill anyone who dared to hurt Chang Yu.

I comment the same thing about FCY’s battle scene. As much as I love to see Xie Zheng’s battle scenes, he killed everyone in few seconds. We don’t want to see such boring battle for so long where he went on killing spree of enemies’ soldiers. He even killed that Shi Yue easily. If he did struggle, then he didn’t live up to the glorious name of Marquis Wu’an.

Regarding why he didn’t manage to capture Yuanqing, it’s because his reinforcements came to save him and as Marquis, his priority is to protect Lucheng’s city first because they already infiltrated the fortress and with the enemies’ numbers, they could defeat General He’s army and harm the normal citizen at the city.

I didn’t read the novel but I kinda expected that his great battle will be with his uncle because he’s strong too and he’s one of the villains left.

Xie Zheng’s character has been aura farming to me even when he’s Yan Zheng.

Never once I care about the disgusting and annoying Sui brothers.

He’s the late Crown Prince’s son, the late Emperial Grandson, so he has the direct royal blood. He wants to ascend the throne and by having an heir, the court could easily remove him and give the throne to Bao Er instead as the direct heir. His body is also weak after the fire incident, so he might not be fit.

As ZLH fan and I’ve been watching his dramas a lot, I actually prefer his character over others in all his drama. Not everyone like twisted, cold and complex character. In MJTY, I support Gong Zi Yu from the beginning until the end and kinda pissed at Gong Shang Jue at first. His character development from spoiled brat to strategist leader, I love it.

On this drama, not even once I find Qi Min or Sui Yuanqing attractive. I was mostly disgusted with their scenes and I wanted less of Qi Min’s scene with YQQ because I couldn’t take it. I didn’t even want him to have any redemption arc. Xie Zheng’s character had his cold, obsessive and cruel moments. When he almost killed Advisor Guo just because he drugged Changyu, I was shocked. The sweet Yan Zheng that we knew was not there that time. When he chased after Sui Yuanqing though he already threw an arrow at him, and then still pissed at his remarks about CY. He also forcefully kissed her during their ‘break up’ and pissed off whenever she mentioned about divorce. Xie Zheng’s character is definitely not a green flag, probably yellow flag. When he said to Changyu “as long as I’m alive, you’ll forever be mine” that line threw some viewers off like wth he’s almost being like that disgusting obsessed Qi Min.

Everyone has their own perspectives, but ZLH won’t be as popular as he is right now if his characters or dramas didn’t make any impact or being ‘overshadowed’ by other characters.

Exactly! Xie Zheng left to protect Lucheng city for greater cause. She saw Lord Changxin was pursuing him, so she was like not on my watch. She’s kinda reckless but I agree it’s driven by emotion because of Man Di’s death and she wants to revenge Yuanqing. Yuanqing already left, so she her target changed to Lord Changxin.

I love it when we have powerful couple who would protect each other and treat each other as equal. When Xie Zheng said he knew Chang Yu would come and then slightly grin when he saw her holding the two blades he forged for her, both of them are so hot and sexy! 🔥

Marquis Wu’An is already a great hero to the nation, he didn’t need to prove himself at the battlefield.

If some viewers wonder why the screentime of intense battlefield goes to FL, it’s because she has to use extra her strength, her brain and skill to defeat the enemy. She’s not an experienced warrior. It won’t be believable if she could kill both Shi Hu and Lord Changxin easily without much struggle. Her fighting skill has always been step by step, little by little and butchered them to make them weak first. It’s different with Xie Zheng who could just kill others, like Shi Yue easily without much struggle.

I noticed it when he mentioned about flower, but it’s easily could be removed in the drama because it’s not that important to get his pov of the difference of other females to Changyu.
