I did not read the novel. The priority at that time was stated in a dialouge when Lord CX told XZ that they would win because they already burned the wall. Yuanqing was heading there and Xie Zheng pursued him. Yes, letting him away was would cause him to gather his army again, but Sui army was severely damaged as well that’s why he went on hiding because they still tried to find him though XZ headed to the city. It’s implied again that He and Xie armies are still finding Yuanqing after the war, that’s why the relative family wanted to kill him with poison because if he got caught, the whole family would be labelled as rebel too for keeping him.

Her action was wrong drugging Marquis which caused Yuanqing to escape. But even before that, XZ and Gongsun discussed that having him as hostage had less weight because Yuanqing did instruct them to proceed with the attack when Changyu kidnapped him. So they attacked and didn’t care if Yuanqing die that time. Xie troop got hold off on the war because of Yuanqing as hostage, when they didn’t see him as valuable anymore, there’s a conversation between Marquis Wu’An and Gongsun that the war is inevitable as they didn’t really care about Yuanqing that much.

Yes, she was wrong for knocking out Commandant Li though he’s severely injured, it’s not her call to decide what’s best for him. A lot of people here already called FL out for this action.

I’m not saying that this is a perfect drama, but some points that you mentioned about plothole is explained in the dialouge itself though the drama didn’t show explicitly like how Marquis Wu’an stabilize the attack at the city wall etc. It’s just implied with dialouges, and also shots about how peaceful Lucheng city that they didn’t have much damage and they mentioned that they won the war.

About YQQ, yes, it’s kinda easy and convinient, but I guess the writer felt it’s unnecessary to explore it further and make viewers to make assumptions like she has been planning the escape for so long (based on her dialouge with CY) and she’s held captive for months, she also said to the maid that she’s thinking of running away everyday. She finally could escape when Qi Min lowered his guard when he told her about his past about being the son of Crown Prince.

I just love the friendship between Changyu and Princess Royal.

I love it when princess said to CY that whatever she’s feeling and facing right now, it’s the same as Marquis Wu’an. It gives meaning that though he’s the glorious Marquis, he’s still humanbeing with emotion and feelings, it’s not easy for him too. It’s a great advice because we can see how Changyu shifted her care towards her husband when she said he’s no longer needed her protection when she knows he’s Marquis Wu’an. I also like the scene when Xie Zheng comforted her, but he didn’t even tell her that things are gonna get better, he’s just there being understanding because he knows how overwhelmed she might’ve felt because he was once like that too and probably still feeling the same sense of duty and guilt of killing people. It’s not easy to get over of killing a humanbeing.

The first YQ’s escape is when he got drugged by CY that he wasn’t there to lead the troop. YQ was with Gongsun and the plan was Marquis Wu’an to be there as well. Vanguard Blood something2 (can’t remember the name) was supposed to lead the other frontline to fight Shi Hu, and Marquis Wu’an and the rest with Yuanqing held captive to spar ahead with Shi Yue. Because Marquis Wu’an was not there, Shi Yue could save Yuanqing and Gongsun got injured, but the other troop who led by Shi Hu retreated when he’s killed by Changyu.

The second time of Yuanqing escape is because he got back up, and Shi Yue attacked Xie Zheng. Yuanqing used that time to runaway. Xie Zheng didn’t pursue Yuanqing after killing general Shi Yue because his troop was on the way to go to the city to provide reinforcements as the enemy already climbed the city’s wall and burned the wall, so it’s matter of time for them to seige the city and harm normal citizen. Though Lord CX had died, and Shi Yue also died, the report would take time for the enemy to retreat. Meanwhile, they would proceed to further seige the city as they had numbers which is also why General He and the other general couldn’t withstand and died because the number was too great. We can assume that once Xie Zheng got into the city wall, his troop stabilize the battle, brought Sui’s flag and told the enemies’ soldiers that their Lord and general died. It does show how the enemy indeed got 30k soldiers, greater number, which is why Commandant Li injured so badly to ambush the enemy at the forest and General He died protecting the wall.

About the treatment tent, before he said to open his own tent to treat minor injuries, there’s a scene that explained how they got attacked by Sui when trying to get supplies, so it makes sense that they might not be the frontliners that fought together with Marquis Wu’an to know how he looks like. They were just commoners who got recruited because of the war, lower ranks and in charge of supplies just like Mister Zhao, who also didn’t know how Marquis Wu’an looks like.

Also, Marquis Wu’an was the one who came up with the flood tactics to bring down the enemies’ numbers. He also targeted that Baxia will be the enemies’ place before Lucheng and Jizhou.

It’s not a loophole when you understand the dialouges and connect the dots properly.

I actually want more of his scene with Changning 😆😆 his side job is Ning’s babysitter.

Yup, the fact that she could kill the deputy chief of qingfeng port (the bandits) showed how her foundation was strong enough and she has the strength and speed. She’s not a normal commoner just like how some viewers claim she is and find it shocking when she could thrive during battlefield.

I still can’t get over the little smile Xie Zheng made when he saw Chang Yu used the blades he personally forged. Bro is so turned on that time 😆😆😆

She had somehow connection with Commandant Li, so I guess she feels safe when He army came when she met with YQQ. I don’t think she ever met with General He before, but I guess she’s just extroverted and good at making connection with her outgoing personality. And from General He’s perspective, she’s the child that he promised his bf to protect so of course he’s more welcoming to her.

Honestly, I don’t care if anyone watches the leak episodes on illegal website, I’m not gonna be a moral police, you do you on your own moral ethics. But don’t post a spoiler from ep 31-40 here even with spoiler tag, it’s not welcome!!
People who’ve watched up to the official episodes released might think that you’re commenting about the drama up to ep 30. A lot of us here still patiently waiting for the new episodes release on WeTV, iQiyi and Netflix. Be respectful to other viewers.

This drama is not Netflix’s first attempt to collabs with asian streaming sites. Netflix won’t have express ep or package, that’s for sure. Netflix always follow standard VIP schedule from Youku, WeTV or iQiyi, if there’s SVIP schedule for express ep or package, Netflix won’t follow it.

I just hope after today’s official episodes release, people will still talk about it and discuss about the drama in the comment section

General He’s death is supposed to be sad, but I was kinda mad that FL couldn’t know the truth and his letter is too simple 😭 Like he should’ve assured her that her dad was not a traitor 🙃

I didn’t read the novel, but a lot of comments here said CY killed Lord CX in the novel right after ep 30 aired. I understand your POV, but since ML is glorious and strong, we could see how he killed his enemies in few seconds, he didn’t even struggle to kill Shi Yue, the other general. So if more fighting scenes for him, then it’ll just be him on killing spree during the war, which I doubt the director wants to show more of that as this drama might be taken as pro-war and ML enjoyed killing people. I also understand why FL has better choreography because she’s not that skill enough, so she took more time and struggled to kill her enemies. If she’s been on the battlefield for 50 years, she didn’t need that flying in the air stunt (the enemy actually threw her up and they tried to kill her but her squad pushed them), because she would just easily kill the enemies without any struggle just like ML.

Chang Yu defeated general Shi Hu and Lord Chang Xin is not an ‘overnight’ success. We could see how she struggled to kill both of them.
Shi Hu - she knew he’s strong and one hammer strike from him could kill his opponent. She was defending most of the time and her dagger was made by his dad that was strong and sharp enough to slice armor open and withstand enemy’s weapon. She didn’t march directly to attack him, she used the fire wood to distract him, cut him here and there to make him weak first and finally use his hammer to give him the final blow once he has weakened.
Lord Changxin - driven by emotion, recklessness and revenge, she attacked him first without thinking ahead. She used her dad’s Wei technique to the point that Lord CX could realize it. She lost focus, almost got killed twice but got helped by her squad and Xie Wu. During the fight, we’re shown her flashbacks with Marquis Wu’an taught her to not use too much force and go with the flow, General He’s advice on not too stick with one pattern, so from here, though the show didn’t explicitly show she got her training, it’s implied that everyone around her had been teaching her martial arts further and with Grand Tutor Tao’s wisdom, she could get a grip and focus on the right mindset for the people. If we look at it logically, General He is a powerful general and someone like him won’t simply give an armor to a girl and give a chance to her to join battlefield just because she’s good in sparring. There must be sort of training in the background and her reputation at the camp that made him think she’s suitable for battlefield with the right martial art skill and right mindset & willpower. The parallel scene of her butchering pig and her slicing Lord CX is to show how deep her cut to opponent and again, we could see her skill is little by little, slicing the enemy to make them weak first before giving them the final blow.

We should not forget that her dad thought her martial art. Yes, it’s different from a fight in battlefield, but she has had her foundation for years, even far ahead from other common soldiers that got recruited for the war. She got her skill further brushed up when she went on saving kids from kidnapping (2 months+), heavy lifting work at the dam, sparring with Marquis Wu’an and General He with feedback, and wisdom from Grand Tutor Tao.

But I’ve read few comments here that said CY killed Lord CX in the novel, so the drama stayed true with the material about CY, but it’s just that in novel, XZ fought with Lord CX first making him weak so it’s easier for her to kill him at the end. In the drama, XZ did fight with Lord CX but didn’t do that much of damage as he went ahead to the city and pursued YQ instead. But we could still see how sloppy CY when she fought with Lord CX and how she caused Xie Wu’s injury.
