from the promos i didn’t realise these two were already an established power couple, damn. absolutely love them already and how they sold the romance with just a few scenes between them. i’m dying for more of them and their history.
loving the miss hammurabi vibes (same PD) and the more realistic take on a political drama. no weak link in the cast. lee jung jae is killing it, i can see why he’s so respected as an actor. also love shin min ah’s cool, calm, and collected sun yeong as well.
i often find these days that episodes are too long and bloated with so many wasted scenes. not in this drama. it’s impressive that the writer so efficiently set up the story and characters in just over an hour. i hope more people will give this show a chance.
i feel like he has so much potential but is just wasted in his recent roles. he was great in individualist oh ji young. i would like to see him in a melodrama. smth with more emotional heft.
I wonder if part of what's hurting the ratings for this show and I'm sure others is the networks not showing episodes…
jang ki yong and jin ki joo are rising, but top stars they are not. this show is great but it is dark and certainly wouldn't appeal to a wide audience imo. i'm not surprised it's not doing well despite its quality.
is this very law ish? I mean is there a lot of court room scenes and legal talk??
Not overbearingly so imo. It's well balanced between the characters and the cases so far. I think this is a much more grounded approach to the legal profession that I've seen from other kdramas. There isn't alot of legal jargon either so far. Even if you're not fond of law dramas (I'm not either), I'm really enjoying this one.
i feel like logical decisions kind of flew out the window in episode 10 but i am really hyped to see how this show wraps up. there’s a lot of ground to cover in the final 2 episodes, idk if the writer can pull if off.
what kind of stupid idea is withdrawing the money and using it to trap young dae if you don’t have the police’s cooperation? ofc he was going to run off with the money easily. why didn’t sang hoon call the police instead of se yeon to rescue him? i understand that she wants to keep the money for ye rin’s care but i feel like we’re beyond that now with her being accused of murdering young dae and trying to kill ye rin. i have to say that the depths that young dae and jung shim have gone for money have shocked me. it was clear that young dae was shady and insincere from the get go but even poisoning your own daughter and threatening to kill her? they are sick.
also does anyone else think that it’s young dae that’s dead in the boot of the car and not sang hoon? i will honestly cheer if the girls somehow manage to kill young dae, he deserves it. idg why he’s revealed himself to the police now though? is he going to say that se yeon tried to kill him for the insurance money and he had to go into hiding? sounds more than a little far fetched. idk how he’s going to spin this.
In RL, Dr. Ye is the better choice. In dramaland, MH is the better choice because more drama and chemistry.
agreed. i’ve never seen any romantic chemistry between them, and minho’s trashy behaviour even killed their friendship (& platonic chemistry) for me too.
if the writer focused less on minho’s petty, selfish and nasty behaviour and more on the adorable ye line (basically just ditch the love triangle completely), this would’ve been a much better show imo.
Such a great drama, and am I the only one who's skipping the scenes with the younger brother and that failed actress??…
It's pretty much filler for me. I don't hate them, I'm just riveted by the central storyline and their scenes without Dong Hoon just feel extraneous to me. The relationship between the 3 brothers is important to the story, I'm just more interested in Dong Hoon's relationships with Ji-an, his wife and Joon-young.
joy's not that bad, y'all are so dramatic. it's a passable performance so far imo.
i'm worried that they won't have enough plot for 16 episodes at the current pace but for now i'm going along for the ride. ^^ watching this is like a throwback to my days of watching gossip girl lmao. lbr this ain't a show of substance and i don't expect it to blow me away. but is it entertaining? hell yeah. woo do hwan is perfectly cast, i like the friendship between the main trio and i love how tae hee is actually intelligent (hopefully she won't be super naive). i'm looking forward to watching these gorgeous people crash and burn together lol.
yeah, i'm done with bona. she didn't even feel conflicted about it! that's cold. pretending to make up with yoon-yi to take her down and ruin her career? uh no, not forgiven.
THAT KISS THOUGH. I WAS SCREAMING. that was damn hot! i hope we get more kisses soon. i was swooning when chi-won said he trusted her. i love the way the writer handled the ex conflict - minimal aggravation. do-hee girl you tried but you're no match for yoon-yi. i love chi-won and yoon-yi so muuuuuuch. they don't give up on each other.
also i love jung ae shutting down the chairman's lackey! my girl has come a long way. ^^ and bo yul being there for jung ae for once. i'm hoping he'll stand by her. he clearly cares about her alot (i don't necessarily ship them romantically, i just like their supportive relationship). they're so precious.
the epilogue... y'all aren't as stupid as you look lmao. the next episodes will probably be pretty angsty but i hope we can bring back the comedy and fluff for the final week. this show is my happy place.
thank you for this article! hopefully more people will watch this show. i tried the first episode fully expecting not to like it and was impressed by its quality. i got sucked into the story very quickly.
this is really a revenge makjang done right - well paced, great cliffhangers, tightly written and plotted. it's so addictive. the cinematography is gorgeous and the music really enhances the atmosphere but most importantly the show is extremely well cast even down to the minor characters. i'm happy you highlighted lee hang na's character bc i find her facial expressions so funny! jang seung jo also captures boo cheon perfectly - at his core he wants to be a good person but he's weak. this seems to be his first major role and i think he's doing an excellent job. i'm really fascinated by pil joo and boo cheon's relationship - i think pil joo will definitely be conflicted about crushing boo cheon in his desire for revenge against the chairman and jang mal ran.
park se young really emanates sincerity that makes her portrayal of mo hyun so good. she may be too trusting but i agree that she's very strong-willed. jang hyuk's restrained acting here is really him at his best (he and lee mi sook really deserved their awards from mbc). there's so multi-faceted characters in MF and entire cast is nailing it. there's an assurance in the writing here that makes me really excited to see how things play out.
