Why does Yamazaki Kento play the same character in so many movies - the over confident arrogant guy that treats…
because he's done alot of shoujo adaptations and the 'heroes' are basically the same archetype. his character here seems similar but hopefully there's more to kanata than we've seen so far. he has the most screentime out of the brothers for obvious reasons so hopefully that translates to more development and depth.
im loving this drama way too much. you feel that uee and her daughter are real family . i feel like uee secretly…
ikr, the bond between them feels so genuine. although i love the romance and ji hoon's relationship with his mother breaks my heart, my favourite relationship in the show is theirs. it feels so real.
Why are people so pressed? About people disliking this drama? Honestly my favourite dramas have flaws. I can SEE…
i agree with you. as long you enjoy the drama, that's what matters. don't let other people's opinions stop you from enjoying smth you love. everyone has the right to express their opinion, whatever it is. if you don't agree, just move on?? don't take it so personally. we're all just strangers on some forum. as you say, who cares what others think.
lmao ji seong jun actually had a split personality or smth. i despised him, he was so nasty. (he called the female lead dumb/retarded iirc). his behaviour made no sense. the drama as a whole was just a mess.
i can't remember his name but i really hated the male lead in a gentleman's dignity (actually, all the dudes in that show). ditto secret garden. kim eun sook doesn't understand the notion of consent.
i only needed to watch 15 minutes of madame antoine to hate choi soo hyun's guts. what kind of bastard... why, sung joon, why.
also hated both male leads in heart to heart. they actually made me so angry. one was pathetic, the other was seriously messed up and shouldn't have been in a relationship with anyone, let alone with his patient (???).
This is the first time I am enjoying Uee's acting this much. Her acting is so mature here and despite the age…
I watched some of the first episode raw and I really think her acting has improved - she seems more convincing here than in some of her more recent roles. I really like Uee since Ojakgyo Brothers (but I haven't really liked any of her projects since then) so I'm really rooting for her to do well here. Working with a good PD is really helping her, I think :').
I haven't watched the show subbed yet so I'm probably wrong, but that could just be the length of their contract, not how many days she has left. Or at least I hope so. I hope they leave it open-ended, I really don't want to see her die in the end...
I really like Haruta and Konatsu pair. Also, this drama is great <3
in the preview for episode 8, it looks like haruta still has feelings for konatsu. i really wish we had more insight into haruta, he's an intriguing character but we basically know nothing about him.
I'm fine with Yamazaki Kento in general, but I find it strange that he's suddenly cast in every other shoujo manga…
I guess he's milking his flower boy popularity while he can. He won't be able to do these kind of roles forever. I do think it's his agency making these choices for him. I wish he could take on more diverse roles like Masaki as well :/
At least Orange has solid source material and his role in Shigatsu is a meaty one. Wolf Girl & Black Prince is pretty much gonna be terrible though :/
Someone was saying that Fukushi Sota must be pissed Kento's stealing all his roles lmao. Shoujo manga heroes were totally Sota's schtick up until last year when Kento suddenly started grabbing roles in all the upcoming major adaptations.
Aside from Kubota Masataka (who is great), the casting is completely off imo. Fugigaya Taisuke's portrayal is honestly nowhere near Vic's. Vic has the magnetism and edge that Fugigaya lacks. There's a dark undercurrent to Rei from the beginning but I'm not seeing it in this adaptation. Everything is incredibly rushed and it's all over the place tonally because of it. Let the story and the characters breathe ffs. Iitoyo Marie also looks out of her element tbh (I know she's inexperienced so I'll cut her some slack). Such a shame :/
The one thing I really don't understand though is the characterisation of the Future Husband (I'm not blaming Kim Joo Hyuk at all btw). We now know it's Taek but he never seemed like Taek to me (except for the finale when he tried to open that biscuit tin, I rolled my eyes so hard they nearly fell out of my head). His body language, attitude + banter with Deoksun just screams Junghwan to me. Like when Deoksun says how pretty she was in her youth and he replies 'do you need a mirror?' in one of the earlier episodes. Taek would never say that? But Junghwan totally would tease her in that way. Things like that just do make me feel manipulated ngl. I don't really see where I went wrong with this.
I'm also just generally pissed about Junghwan's ending (or non-ending) because I wanted more for him in the last two episodes. I wanted him to actually have some screentime. I wanted him and Deoksun to have an honest conversation with each other (so much was left hanging between them!!), no bs, and her to reject him cleanly before moving on with Taek. Instead they don't talk anymore, tbh they don't even seem to be friends anymore?? Like, damn that sucks. :/ The writer has been so cruel - we deserve some closure. C'mon!! At least Junghwan seems happy in the finale (I loved what he did for his mum in episode 19, he's seriously so wonderful). I wanted to see present day Junghwan and see him happy with his wife + kids (if Deoksun doesn't choose him, at least let us see him happy with someone else). Instead we don't know what happened with him and Dong Ryong...
Anyway, I loved the first half, it made me laugh and cry. Junghwan to me was the emotional centre of the show - I connected so much with him (mostly down to Ryu Joon Yeol's wonderfully natural and charming performance. I predict great things for him). That was the writer's intention. Even if I watched the drama from the beginning again knowing Taek was the husband, I would still root for Junghwan. I just can't help it... D:
