I agree with your opinion. The cdrama had enough time to build the relationship but the kdrama version is going too fast to get the real feelings among the characters. I know everyone is saying it's 40 episodes cramed in 16 episodes, which is also why I feel like I'm watching the original at 2x speed.

Most of Lee Min Ki's characters have either a dead wife/gf or a traumatic breakup. -_- I wonder if it is to go with his mostly expressionless face. (poker face?)

tbh I didn't like this season as much as I liked the first but now that I watched it for the second time, I really am in love with this season as well. The fact that SDJ has the smarts to uncover but not the power to go through with the investigations cuz he has a family to protect and trying to use them for personal gain instead. The fact that the writer made SDJ disappear so that his discoveries were found by Hwang Shi Mok, who has nothing to lose and hence will go forward with justice no matter the consequence. The writing was absolutely perfect.

I rewatched Stranger Season 2 again cuz I couldn't rmrbr what happened in it and I finally understand why they made a season for SDJ. In season 2, he is smart but has no power and has a family to protect. In comparison, Hwang Shi Mok didn't need to think twice before investigating and finding justice. And SDJ's main intention is to leverage his discoveries to gain something for himself. But the main point is he is as smart and sharp as Hwang Shi Mok which I love about in both of them. And I finally understand why they were mocking him for getting kidnapped by a suspect for the second time, in this drama. 🤣🤣Basically SDJ is a guy where we don't know what his next move is cuz he himself is torn between personal gain and justice. And I hope they have a cameo of Hwang Shi Mok and Han Yeo Jin, hopefully both of them dating each other. 😂
