Interestingly, Jung Yong Hwa's funny laugh-out-loud laughter sounds like Namkoong Min's character in One Dollar Lawyer, not as animated but close, maybe took some inspiration from that character.
Overall, as a traditional over the top rom-com style K-drama, the start is decent. The premise is a bit too unrealistic for my preference, but we've seen far worse in other shows, so as long as the execution and ending is good, I am willing to look past it.
The issue however is that it's a 16 episode show, not a 8 or 10 episode one, so keeping up a proper, logical storyline based on the initial premise for that many episodes is gonna be tough. The 2nd half of most shows in K-drama-land is full of disappointing blunders, I am hoping this one doesn't become another one of those, considering it's Hong Seung Hee's first main role after like 5 years, last I saw her in a main role was in Move to Heaven.
Kang Ha na always seems to get cast as the second female lead. I really hope she gets the chance to play the female…
Last she did Main FL was in Frankly Speaking and Bloody Heart. I do wish she would play the main FL more, it seemed like so from 2022-2024 but after that again 2nd FL or supporting roles/cameos phase. Hope more opportunities for Main FL roles comes her way in 2027.

I agree. However, the other side is true too (which I believe you alluded to by writing "either way"). The bunch of 8,9 and 10s we are seeing only after 2 episodes have been released is also very much unfair for the ratings system. If the 2-4 episodes are fantastic, it should not be getting a rating of 9s and 10s either.
MDL should make a system where people can only rate or review a drama after half the total episodes have been released (better yet after about 70 percent of the show is released) , until then users should only be able to use the comment section. Most users initially rates a drama very high (most cases), and very low sometimes (fewer cases), in my experience. And neither party go ahead and adjust the ratings after the entirety of the show has finished. Heck many even don't revise their initial reviews.
So when the drama is finished, the accumulated ratings don't actually portray how good/bad the drama was in its entirety, rather just the initial few episodes. Inflated drama ratings just because a show has ultra-popular star is all too common in MDL (and the reverse case for a drama with not so popular cast), and the initial ratings play a massive role in that.
So if there's no guardrail for the initial inflated ratings and reviews, there shouldn't be any guardrail for initial deflated ratings and reviews either. In a sense the initials 1s, 2s and 3s sort of balance out the initial 8, 9s and 10s, however imperfectly. But, for accuracy's sake, I don't think either of the two should be allowed.
While I love the fact that you called out this initial and premature rating in this review after just 2 episodes, we don't see the same thing happen that much for the high initial ratings and glazing initial reviews. And that creates a imbalance. That doesn't mean one should select one by one of all the positive + negative initial reviews + ratings and comment on them, we don't all have the time or the patience, not to mention that can create unnecessary animosity between users depending on the phrasing. Therefore, this site itself should set some guardrails and regulate this.
I hope someday MDL comes up with a better solution to this issue. They definitely can, the ideas are there and it's very much doable from a web/software development point of view, but will they? That's the question.

Kdramas and Cdramas have a lot more clout in MDL to be honest, and they are in general more popular internationally. Therefore due to their fans, they usually have a significantly higher ratings compared to Jdramas which are usually popular in niches.
Another thing is that due to Kdrama actors being popular and internationally recognized, their fanbase can oftentimes be "Mental", if I had to use a word. If you criticize them for their acting, you may end up becoming a martyr by their hands (comments). Any criticism can instantly be considered as "Hating on my Oppas and Hating on my Divas" (similar for Cdramas too, more or less). They basically "Worship" them in many ways, and if you criticize them in any way, man, the backlash can be quite brutal sometimes!
Especially if that actor/actress has a "KPOP IDOL" background. If you criticize their acting or even sometimes their off-screen behavior, you are TOAST! Prepare for a nuclear explosion!
On top of that, many write initial reviews + post ratings, but as the show goes on, and oftentimes fall flat during the end, they don't "Correct" their initial reviews and ratings, and that rating piles up and over time gives a false expression that the show is actually really good. (The reverse is true too, where the cast isn't that popular so the initial ratings are very deflated and not inspiring even if the show is really good)
Jdramas and their actors don't have that huge fandom (except for a very, very few) and their shows are watched by fewer people (that much clear is by looking at their ratings and number of viewers), so usually, the overall rating shows up to be poor.
For Jdramas, people have to look past the overall ratings if they wanna watch some really great shows.
I still haven't seen this drama specifically, so I am not sure how accurate your assessment of the show is (I plan on watching after like 7-8 episodes been released), however, I found your comment about inflated Kdrama ratings and depressed Jdrama ratings issue interesting, I don't think many users have actually thought about this issue.

I never expected I'd see this duo. I've been a fan of Imada Mio ever since I saw her in Trillion Game. I couldn't even dream that JCW and IM will have a drama together. Hope this becomes good watch overall.

They went down the cliched route immediately after episode 1. Episode 1 was good, building great anticipation, keeping up the mystery. However, again, the same old same old approach after episode 1, with the sleeping on the bed scene, the predictable introduction of the over-interested second lead who is gonna stick to our FL like superglue, forced romantic moments, the ever so typical things that we've seen thousands of times in kdramas. I was interested in this show due to Park Eun Bin's recent delving into interesting shows and challenging characters, but so far this is not really the show I was hoping for. Even if the story behind the main ghost that results in touch-and-get-haunted situation is interesting and it has good potential of elevating the storyline, addition of these annoying, cliched, run-of-the-mill, overused elements really makes it irritating to watch. Now gonna watch a few more episodes to see how it goes, but my expectations have dropped quite drastically after episode 2. Just hoping they don't go down the ever so usual, trite path.
Yeah, I know both of them to be great actors, I was surprised to see JSW as the villain. Having someone like him as the villain makes it so that the villain looks incredibly classy.

Another is, this is a type of drama that almost never has a second season, but they are making it. Like it never felt like watching the ending of season 1 that they had been planning a season 2. So, it has to hold the overall quality of season 1 throughout this new season, which is gonna be tough for dramas of this type.
