The character of the princess, the ML younger sister is the reason why ladies have been deemed weak and gullible,…
I'm on ep 7 right now and I'm SCARED - I really hoped when she declared last ep that she was willing to marry the guy that she would keep her loyalties straight.... ugh
Finally, finished the series. However, I'm not sure if I understand the meaning of the English drama title. Can…
I feel like most times they just pick something that sounds cool if the literal translation doesn't make much sense in English. Then again... the English title does make sense. The Chinese title, 折腰, means to bow/bend down, meaning to humble yourself. It's more tied to emotional surrender & submission rather than an actual physical movement. So, in this case, it could mean willingly surrendering your pride and letting someone break down your walls (i.e. falling in love). So, the person has become a "prisoner of beauty" because they're captivated, they're trapped in a scenario where humility and surrender is required in order to love and care for another person.
Shouldn't the title be "The first night with the prince"?
The people who pick the English title translations are usually on crack lol Why else would "Goblin" (the literal name of the drama) be called "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God?" in English?
The literal translation of the Korean for this drama would be "I Took the Male Protagonist's First Night" — not "The First Night With the Duke"
I am all focused on his beautiful brown eyes..Damn they are really standing out
Yes, he has gorgeous eyes. If you search up "Lee Sung Kyung and Seo Kang Joon" on google, you'll see a selfie that he took with a different female costar on set where they played siblings in "Cheese in the Trap." Their eyes are very similar.
Im loving it so far Im still at the iconic handslap episode but wanna know if JY loves our FL? or if theres other…
Yeah he likes her as more than a friend, even though he denies it. He says later on that if Song Mo ever hurts Duo Zhao, he'll whisk her away without a word. But JY ultimately respects whatever choice Duo Zhao makes. Whatever life she wishes to lead, whether or not she wishes to be married, and who she wants to spend her life with.
Exactly! It always bothers me when male leads specifically (because it's ALWAYS them making that sacrifice) hide their illnesses from their love interests and then die or get close to dying before the girl knows! DZ and SM know each other well and can support each other. It's refreshing to see
Is it possible that some dramas will just... be shelved forever?
I mean I still have a little bit of hope because Arthur Chen and Luo Yun Xi are big stars in China, and the original source material for this drama is very popular, and the studio will be missing out on a whole lot of money they spent to produce the drama if they don't air it eventually.
But the drama was filmed in 2020 and it's already 2025... I shudder to think that Luo Yunxi might be in his 40s and Arthur Chen in his 30s by the time this thing airs.
I just saw a comment under a tik tok video that say ML is actually a twin in real life too . is it true ?????
Yes, a fraternal twin brother named Xiaolin. I'm assuming that would make his full name "Li Xiaolin." I've seen a photo of them as kids and also one with both of them older. I was kind of let down because they don't look alike at ALL lollll
I beg someone to give me a list of cdrama a similar to this one I’ve already watched a lot such as bloossom…
I enjoyed "The Double" - I thought the FL was quite strong and intelligent. The ML let her do her own thing & mostly watched from afar, as she was so good at manipulating situations to her advantage & gaining allies (and eventually getting her revenge)
I mean, it was just distasteful of the show's creator to so clearly borrow from Israel and Palestine's names. They barely even changed the spelling, anyone can tell where they got their inspiration from. It's pretty insensitive of the script writer or whoever to mention the ongoing conflict (even indirectly) as people are currently suffering, caught in the midst of a war. I think this is the real problem, not whatever narrative they were telling. Countless countries have bombed other countries and taken hostages. This is horrible, but it's nothing new in human history, and rather generic for a news story on warring countries. It would have worked fine as a plot device IF they had simply made up actual, original country names!
I'm sorry I can't root for Song Han and Miao An Su when he nearly killed her on their wedding night because of his own paranoia. Not to mention... he crazy! She deserves someone better. I don't even know why she didn't just ask for a divorce the day after. She's a princess, surely her word against his would be good enough proof...

I still see to hate him suffer tho ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ oh well, at least he has Duo Zhao by his side. I'm so glad he told her about the poison.
