I'm not even gonna lie, I really don't understand their relationship dynamic. I don't think I've ever seen something like it.

An escape from reality ? but when this one is based on true historical events.
I know lmao but I'm used to watching fantasy dramas xDD this one is really in a whole other lane on its own.

Why am I getting sad vibes... it's not even near the final episode but it's like I can feel the heavy weight of the Kingdom on his shoulders through the screen. Being a King is a lonely fate indeed. No wonder he longs for companionship...

That being said, his relationship with Deok Im is wonderfully intimate and precious. I've really seen nothing like it in other historical dramas.

Side note: I thought dramas were supposed to be an escape from the harshness of reality, not a reflection of it... 😭😭

This drama is very well done though. No doubt about it. I'm just secretly dreading what's to come... there's no way this drama is heading towards a happy ending.

I definitely agree with the rating here. A happy ending, sure, but damn those characters had to go through a lot.

Wow for some reason I expected this to be a romantic comedy but the first episode COMPLETELY proved me wrong xD I actually really enjoyed it!

FINALLY a kdrama where the final episodes leave enough room for closure and proper fleshed out endings to each character's story. Finally a kdrama that doesn't leave the conflict resolution until the very last episode. Finally a kdrama with a happy ending for everyone <3

Title Sh**ting Stars Spoiler
Wow that housekeeper was so emotionally manipulative... and for what? Like seriously, wasting 3 years of her life to make a dude's food salty just because he didn't accept your gifts?

Like, he didn't accept ANY gifts from fans- you ain't special girl! But you still went out of your way to make him feel eventually unsafe in his own home... What a b**tch.

What I think's hilarious is that in episode 1, he said "I won't let you go when I come back" to her at the airport. It sounds kinda romantic at that moment, and at the time you're like OoOooh wait do they have something between them? And episode 1 ends on a cliffhanger. But then at the beginning of ep 2, right after he comes back, he says "You seem to be in a good mood. That puts me in a bad one." And you realize his statement at the airport was more of a competitive one than a romantic one lmaooo

I just finished watching a drama that did EXACTLY what you said lol. Lots of misunderstandings, separations, deaths,…
Haha don't get me wrong, there are definitely many sweet parts in the show. And pffft who cares about sacrifices if it's for the one you love? Did I cry my eyes out at times? Yes! But all's well that ends well, I suppose xDD

Enjoy!

It was The Blue Whisper. I actually really enjoyed the drama but by the end I was practically BEGGING the directors to give the characters 10 happy, carefree minutes with each other xDDD

What's ridiculous is that it seems EVERY drama has some sort of controversy in China.

I just finished watching a drama that did EXACTLY what you said lol. Lots of misunderstandings, separations, deaths, and then they finally got together in the last (not even 10) two minutes. Sure it was good, but it was also heart-wrenching and sad and frustrating at times. So you're convincing me to watch this drama. I'm ready for something that is-- well, NOT that.

RIGHT?! Like whose decision was that? Why not simply title it "Shooting Stars" since the asterisk often censors the vowels of a swear word in english? xD Maybe they did that on purpose to draw people's attention to the drama. I personally thought it was shitting stars when I first saw it.

Okay now I'm mad, i have not watched eternal love because i judged it by the title. Now you're telling me the…
Yeah the Chinese title, literally translated, is so much more romantic. This is arguably the most popular period fantasy cdrama. If Nirvana in Fire is the gold-medalist of historical/political wuxias, then Eternal Love is the gold-medalist of period/fantasy/romance xianxias. It has a happy ending, but... be sure to prepare some tissues for in-between.
