idol sunjae isn't in the new future timeline because he didn't audition with the three. only his bandmates sang his song so maybe sunjae will become a music producer/ lyricist?
I wish they will show that she thinks about him at least once even though she's with Jing at the end... just once…
Yup, I know. My comment below also said I highly doubt she would find out LOL. I know it's better that way for her and that Tushan Jing is the obvious choice.
But as a long-time fan of the novel and having watched so many novels getting adapted to dramas over the years, I am curious how much they are going to continue to stick with the plot (I'm assuming pretty close).
I think XL never letting XY know is his way of protecting her. Imagine how much heartbreak she would have if she…
Yeah, I def agree that Xiang Liu wouldn't have wanted her to know and I highly doubt she would find out at the end. I want to see it as the audience, ngl, but I wouldn't want Xiao Yao to find out if I were Xiang Liu. (Again, she was left with the impression of Xiang Liu not even liking her/ being hurt by her words and it would have been nice for her from a readers' pov just to understand that he did care for her and that their years of friendship had some sort of significance ON him. )
I personally see them as soulmates where Xiang Liu loved her enough to let her go because he literally couldn't be with her.
I wish they will show that she thinks about him at least once even though she's with Jing at the end... just once…
oh SAME
in the novel ending, he gifts her a big bellied doll saying, "Xiao Yao, from now on, I can't protect you anymore. You have to take care of yourself. Wishing you a lifetime of worry-free happiness."
EXCEPT the gift is given in the name of someone else AND he seals the message inside the doll so she would never find out. like bro....
I pray that the drama version shows her finding out about it πππ
I read the novel and while there are scenes that deviate from it (Xiang Liu's boat scene + him saying that Tushan Jing is useless) and also cutting of Tushan Jing's scenes from the novel, it's definitely going to be Xiao Yao x Tushan Jing ending. *And they promote this drama with Yang Zi saying that Tushan Jing is her boyfriend in the drama LOL (it's so obvious the endgame)
There are clips from when they were filming on set: - Xiang Liu is seen fighting and dying in war (that's what happens to him in the novel) - Xiao Yao and Tushan Jing leave the palace and the Grand Emperor + Ah Nian send them off - (in this scene, Xiao Yao doesn't seem to have the peach flower mark on her forehead anymore which means she isn't going to be a Princess any longer) - (basically, they decided to live freely and away from the palace because that's what Xiao Yao has always wanted and Xiang Liu had already made sure that she always has a place to go no matter where she wanders before he dies)
Although I have to say, I love the extra scenes between Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao because later on in the novel, the way they parted was honestly so heartbreaking and it's even worse that Xiao Yao will never know the amount of things Xiang Liu has done for her π
It's not a fallacy. Huo Qubing is Wei Wuji. They just changed all the names. If you look closely when in the drama (at the actor's lips) when they say Wei Wuji's name, they actually say Huo Qubing in the filming process and also Jin Yu for Xin Yue. The voice actors are the only ones that changed the names.
Its a wuxia drama. The characters are in ancient garb, but historical dramas are usually more on the history of China + plot. Historical dramas for examples: this one, Empress of China, Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace.
I was stressing out too.But then I came across a video put out by tencent on youtube showing hobbled together…
Yes, I forgot to mention that he looks like he desperately wishs for her to be marrying him. I honestly don't even ship anyone with her in the book. Both Fang Zhu and Di Xu are other than her by 20 years there. It's quite hard to comprehend her together with either of them.
I think she sometimes makes good points about the technical side of movie-making but as for plots, I never agree…
For sure, she def knows a lot more about Chinese history and the entertainment industry. She also knows more secrets about actors and who they really are in person so it might also affect how she watches dramas. I think she's just a bit picky which is fine and I just choose to not watch her since my view on dramas also is quite different from hers.
Movie ending: Chen Nian becomes a teacher after serving time in jail. One of her students kind of reflects her younger self and Chen Nian walks her home. As they are walking, Bei Ye is walking behind them (about 6-7 feet away) as kind of their protector. Just like how he would walk Chen Nian to school.
Novel ending: So, the thing is, the plot is a bit different in the novel. Chen Nian didn't push Wei Lai but stabbed her with a knife. It was a small wound so it didn't kill Wei Lai. However, Wei Lai was later raped by someone called the Raincoat Man and killed.
One of Bei Ye's (Bei Ye is his name in the novel) best friends was the Raincoat Man and the Raincoat Man was planning on leaving their city after raping several girls. Bei Ye went to confront his friend saying why would you rape all these people (including Chen Nian). When his friend (Raincoat Man) tried to flee the house, Bei Ye kills him by accident under the influence of alcohol. This results in Bei Ye serving 4 years in jail and now on parole.
The novel ends with 2 letters as epilogues. One from Zheng Yi to Chen Nian. The other is from Chen Nian to Zheng Yi.
Here is the last part of her letter: (((I remember, that during that period of time, Bei Ye frequently asked me, whether I trusted him.
Of course I did.
Every single time he asked, my trust in him grew stronger and stronger.
He said Iβm not responsible for Wei Caiβs death, so I believed that my hands were clean. And it is precisely this belief, and this certainty, in my own innocence, that has granted me the ability to commence, and persevere, in my pursuit of Law.
Never in my entire life, have I encountered someone who protected me as thoroughly as Bei Ye did β he, who protected my heart from being corroded by darkness, and he, who protected my soul, allowing it to remain pure and complete.
But who could have thought, and who could have foreseen β this person, who protected me so thoroughly, and so completely β the suffering, and the ordeals, that he had to go through?
Bei Ye once said, that he hoped that I would be able to comprehend what was meant by the sentence βWe are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.β I think, because of Bei Ye, I am finally, gradually, starting to understand.
In one of your letters, you had asked me whether, despite all that Iβve been through, I continued to believe β in truth, in beauty, in kindness, in goodness, and in trust and belief itself.
Officer Zheng,
I am now able to tell you, that because of Bei Ye, and solely because of Bei Ye, my answer is βYesβ. )))
Does anyone have a link to the novel? I desperately want to read it but I can only find it in chinese
The Title is "The Youthful You Who Was So Beautiful." Google it, the links should be there. It's honestly a masterpiece. I read it before I found out there was a movie adaption and have to say, the novel is just a bit better imo :)
How the Yellow Emperor (grandfather) and their grandmother end up is the ending if Xiao Yao chose Cang Xuan
Xiao Yao's mother and Chi Chen (Qiyo)'s story is the ending if Xiao Yao chose Xiang Liu
and Tushan Jing is what they all so desperately wanted to achieve: freedom. so at least Xiao Yao was able to escape the fate her mother couldn't
