It was the biggest hit when it released, that it became a national craze. So I guess it was enough for loads of people (who also went on to become fans of Arashi as a whole).
exactly at least one person who wrote a fair review.
Lol thank you. It’s all about expectations I guess. Romcoms/romances these days seem to portray a more “sanitized” image of love relationships, as people are fast to criticize fiction as too toxic, red flag, etc. MLs are nicer and FLs are more independent to cater to that. Older dramas with other tropes doesn’t fit into that mold.
Whatever. Your comment reminded me that I’ve been meaning to rewatch this. Perfect non-complicated, tropey drama for the cold winter weather we’re having, yay!
Off to a great start, amazing main couple, but the script quickly became a tedious watch. Just went on and on, had to ff through most of it. And the latter parts turned You Are My Glory on us with the propaganda bits, especially icky with the ”you just have to accept that you’re married to your job now!”-part. Not okay drama, not okay.
The first eps with the courting and Luna embarrassing herself were fun. Then it got boring and the ML can’t act.
The way they incorporated ’green flag’ statements was pretty cringe for me. It’s as if Asian dramas has had these toxic male leads and relationships for so long that some dramas try to overcompensate now that they realize it. Cdramas keep having these extremely wimpy men who just accepts everything the FL does to him, kdramas have these ’strong woman’ FLs who are bullish and obstinate more than anything else and here we had dialogues taken out of a tiktok realtionship how-to guidebook: ”i see you, your feelings are valid, i’m sorry that i didn’t ignore my responsiblities for you…”. Who talks like that?! I guess it’s a nice fantasy for some but I find it tiresome and unnatural.
Loved how quick and no-frills it was from the get go but it still dragged in the second half. The ML was kind of boring, always with this serene little smile on his face but no passion underneath. I took a break before finisihing the last couple of eps and hardly remembered anything from the earlier eps.
I simply like this kind of drama where you get to know an entire family. There were some insufferable minor characters, the plot revolved too much around the money, not enough romance for the ML and so on and yeah yeah, I know but that’s not really the point of these. You watch these for the in-law realtionships and the cozy meal times and the elders sitting on the floor, conversing and plotting and hiding things from the rest of the fam. It’s a mood.
Ps. I need more of the loan shark CEO actor, he left an impression!
Joo Ji Hoon’s gait is basically what I’m here for and got it in spades so all is well.
It felt a little bit sloppy but had its heart in the right place. Was very excited bc of the premise, cast, etc. so might’ve hiked up my expectations too high. A cozy, easy watch all in all.
I’m not a fan of the fantasy genre (including xianxia, xuanhuan, etc) so I was lost and bored at those parts, which was the majority of the time lol. Watched this mostly bc of Ding Yuxi and he delivered yay!
Good start but it just fizzled out and became so booooriiiiiing. Nothing interesting really happened after a while. I love slice-of-life done well and this wasn’t even it. Only redeeming parts were the scenes involving our excellent second couple (those were a hoot) and some domestic family scenes with the parents.

You’d think it was common sense.
