it really makes me think of fushigi yugi, I like the atmosphere of thisshow
I know what you mean. I guess that is why I thought this was one of the best thai dramas I have watched. Fushigi yugi is one of my favourite animes and I have lost count how many times I have watched it.

Beautiful, one of the best written thai dramas. I usually don’t watch this kind of thai drama because they are full of supernatural elements and superstitions that I personally find silly (not trying to be disrespectful to the culture, just giving my honest opinion) and historical thai dramas also tend to be even more draggy than the ones that happen in the modern day. But guess what? I was pleasantly surprised. Of course it had its faults and honestly I skipped most of the scenes that happened in the present cause I could not care less about them. I only watched a few to keep track of things. But the ones in the past I was never able to fast-forward since I was enjoying it so much.

A few things I think made this enjoyable (between so many others):
- They stayed away from some of the most annoying lakorn clichés. There were no evil characters, only ones with bad intentions. The male lead’s mother at first looked like she would be evil or just be there for the sake of complicating things (like in 99 per cent of lakorns out there), the opposite, although she was strict, she honestly loved the female lead and treated her as if she was her daughter and she did not interfere too much in the leads relationship as to make it annoying. Also, no evil, jealous, crazy or scheming second female lead. She is as sweet as her name, Prayong (flower in thai), and she becomes good friends with the female lead even tho they have such different personalities and both like the male lead. Even the second female lead’s mother tried to be evil but she ended up looking just like a good person that momentarily had lack of judgement because of her love for her daughter (which also makes it more understandable).

- Although some people mentioned in the comments that they wish the female lead was more mature and intelligent so she could be more helpful and so it would make more sense for her to be chosen to be sent to the past, I actually am glad that she was intelligent (speaks 3 foreign languages aside from thai, cant be called dumb) but not too much and that she was quite childish and silly at times. This not only created many funny situations but was also what made her stand out and earn the love of everyone, including the male lead.

- The male lead was just too cute. He was not perfect, he was selfish at times and a little possessive too, but he honestly loved the female lead and seeing him treating her with so much respect, without ever forcing himself on her and even acting shy and blushing was a breath of fresh air. Most lakorns have the same kind of male lead and most of them are not the pleasant kind. In real life, at least in my country, most of them would be seen as perverts and criminals and no sane woman would want to be with them.

- The way the story was written made it so that even if this had a slow pace and there was not a lot of skinship/kisses, it does not matter, because you just want to keep watching.

It is a good rom-com. But I would actually recommend it more because of the comedy part. There is also some dramatic moments and fights as any other thai drama but overall it manages to stay away from a few clichés and annoying plot devices. There are some real kisses too, which you can only see in some of the dramas aired by Channel 3.

Honestly, why 22 episodes and how does this have such a high rating? I found this to be one of the thai dramas with the slowest pace I have seen and the romance was not satisfying at all, mainly because they brought back to the story a character that should have only been there in the first episode and never show up again. It could have been a lot better, it lacked in many departments.

Not a bad drama but you have to be in a certain mood to watch it as there is a lot of frustrating things as you would expect from this kind of plot. I liked the male lead, he had his flaws too but he believed in the female lead more than what her jealous behaviour deserved and he was the only faithful man around. The female lead had a lot of flaws but she had such a hard life and so many bad experiences that I think anyone else would have trust issues too, just maybe not act like her. Even the second female lead, as frustrating as her character is, had some good in her, it was very little but her life was no easy either. I would say both female leads actions were the result of jealousy, one chose to play the role of the jealous controlling wife become and the other became evil and lost all self-respect and dignity (if there was any left). All because of jealousy together with bad past experiences.

So like I said, not a bad drama, the characters actions seem to have more reason than most thai dramas but you have to be in the mood for it. After watching this I feel like I need to watch something sweet without too many evil characters or complications.

Same here although you posted this 15 days ago. I'm on episode 6 right now and I already started fast forwarding…
I cannot find my comment either, dont know what happened but yeah, this was not the first one I watched twice before. I have been watching dramas for so many years now but I only joined MDL about 2 years ago so before I had no way to keep track of what I had watched before unless I remembered the drama clearly.

I am so thankful to the people that take time to leave comments, especially ones with spoilers so I can read them and identify trash scripts before I give a drama a try. There are some things I stay away from and when I see them being mentioned in the comments I don’t waste my time giving the drama a try. I am especially selective with thai dramas since the cultural differences make it so many thai dramas are just disgusting or completely boring to me.

Nice. Welcome to the group! :)

I have watched all of the dramas she has subbed so far except from Unexpected since I would rather wait for it to be fully subbed before I start watching.

What makes this worth watching is the story (most of it at least), the cast and characters they play and the fact that the main leads have plenty of kisses, and some good ones too (considering the thai standard and how usually channel 3 gives us fake kisses). But as usual the last few episodes were somewhat predictable and filled with clichés, some were completely unnecessary to be honest.

Overall it was an enjoyable watch, if you dont mind the violence and the excessive use of guns, which is already a thing in most thai dramas anyway, but at least here it makes sense since it revolves around assassins and the police force.

WARNING This lakorn contains several clichees of Thai melodramas (slap/kiss) and some rape scene. So, I suggest…
I wish I had read this comment before watching it. Now I am filled with regret because I had set this as "not interested" but still gave it a try.

I had to pause just to say that just from watching the first 5 minutes of the first episode I can already see…
All syndromes disappeared the moment I realized I was set for disappointment. This reminded me of the older thai dramas I watched that I hated and that made me have a negative view of thai dramas compared to other asian dramas (my view changed a bit since then). At first I was liking the story, then I started to feel bored, then it went completely nuts with too much drama and evil characters. With all the evil plans and lack of trust between the main leads, most of the time no one was happy. It was painful and frustrating to watch and the truth is I should have trusted my gut when I first decided to set this as "not interested". Even if I liked the first few episodes, I had to force myself to finish it and at the end I felt nothing but regret.

I am not saying the story is not good but it definitely is not everyone’s cup of tea and don’t be fooled by the sweet first episodes, everything goes down from there and you will be left with mostly pain for the rest of the episodes.

I had to pause just to say that just from watching the first 5 minutes of the first episode I can already see myself suffering from second male lead syndrome.

Edit: after the 5 minutes mark it only gets stronger. SPOILER: "I want to hear your voice for the rest of my life".

The male lead is going to need a lot of effort to beat this second male lead syndrome I am developing.

After reading your comment I felt afraid to watch this but after completing it I wondered if we watched the same…
Don’t worry about your comment, it is not offensive or anything, I just misunderstood what you were trying to say.

I agree that thai dramas can be hard to put up with and not everyone can watch them. I also am not a fan of triangles, especially obsessive ones with crazy characters that do everything to separate the main couple. I like it when they give us a couple that love and trust each other and are respectful to each other and don’t let anyone interfere in their relationship.

The drama you are talking about is probably Kularb Rai Kong Naai Tawan. I also watched that one and I gave it a 7/10 and I rarely give such high ratings to thai dramas.

Great cast, promising story, many funny/romantic moments but it was all ruined by a lacking plot and one of the worst paces I have seen, even for a thai drama. I legit felt as I watched one episode after the other as if the story was not progressing and everything felt very draggy. The last episode was also wrapped up in a very predictable and convenient way. I guessed about 90 per cent of what they would show us in the last episode several episodes before. The cast, chemistry between the main leads and plot were kind of wasted because of bad pacing and some bad and predictable writing, especially in the last episodes.

This drama changed writers from the midway point of the story. From the point of supposed to be saying you're…
After reading your comment I felt afraid to watch this but after completing it I wondered if we watched the same drama. Maybe this was your first thai drama and there was a cultural shock?! I have watched many thai dramas and this one actually had one of the nicest male lead and the evil characters were not that evil. I am not saying it was perfect or anything but about the female lead having to beg forgiveness, well after how much she hurt the male lead even if it was not her intention, one would expect her to do just that. When you do something wrong or that hurts other people’s feelings saying sorry is the right thing to do. Had it been any other male lead from any other thai drama I have watched he would have a worse reaction, maybe even try to get revenge on her (with a high chance of doing it by raping her) so I really don’t understand why you felt so angry at the writers after watching this. I can understand being disappointed because you wanted things to go a different way but you made it sound like the last 5 episodes were complete trash and the female lead became everyone’s punching bag when it was not actually that bad.

It has been 4 years since you left this comment and I think I remember you from comments in korean dramas so I guess you are more used to them. The cultures are very different. I personally mostly watch korean dramas and I have a love/hate relationship with thai dramas. There are some thai dramas that are so mean towards women that I cannot watch them. This one was actually soft compared to some I have watched. But like I said, I can understand your disappointment towards the story itself. I also thought the first half was better.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I watched this twice by mistake. RIP me. I left a comment above explaining why and how I felt about the drama if you want to read. Some of the points match what you said in your comment.

I had already watched it around the time it was airing but somehow I had the feeling I had not completed watching it. I knew I had watched some of it because I remembered some things but I was convinced I had dropped it. I only realized now, after re-watching it, that I had already completed this one. Why did this happen? No, I have no memory issues, I actually have a pretty good memory. What happened was it was not memorable. Just like the first time, I felt like I had to force myself to finish it and felt bored and frustrated most of the time.

Here are a few reasons why I think I did not enjoy it as much as I would expect:

1st - there was really not enough story for so many episodes, even keeping it with the usual 13 episodes would already be dragging it;

2nd - this is a consequence from the 1st thing I mentioned. The last half of the drama was mostly the same script recycled. I love you, lets stay together no matter what....We cannot stay together, lets split....I cant live without you lets get back together....Our love is impossible. lets go separate ways.....I REALLY love you, lets be together forever....Again, Im sorry, but it is better for everyone if we are NOT together.....OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
I know this is a period drama and that obstacles are used to test their love, blah blah blah...But when you go back and forth, 1 step forward and then 2 steps backwards, it can get REALLY tiring.

3rd - also related to the other reasons mentioned above. The male lead was already in a relationship, kept saying he loved her, promised to never change his feelings for her, asked her to marry him, confronted his grandma and made everyone believe he would do anything for the sake of this love....less than 2 episodes later he is in love with the female lead and could not care less about his girlfriend. Wow, if I was the female lead I would have took a lot longer to believe he actually truly loved me.

4th - not only the male lead, but other characters too behaved in an inconsistent way. They were mostly evil, but had moments were they were kind and then at the end everyone was good. Not like there were evil plans to separate people or to make them look like the bad guys, kidnappings with the intention of selling the person to a brothel and even attempted murder. Very realistic and relatable characters, right?

The reasons stated above are some (there are probably more I forgot to mention) of the reasons that made this drama not memorable and not as enjoyable as it could have been. I am not saying it is bad and it is not worth watching at all. I am just saying it needed less episodes and better writing. Because I did not remember finishing it the first time and because of a MV I watched on YouTube I ended up watching this twice, but one thing is for sure: there will not be a third time.

Had some draggy parts that I skipped as any other thai drama does but overall I enjoyed watching it.

The main leads had good chemistry and there were quite a lot of kisses for a thai drama. The female lead got in the way of the male lead’s job several times and some made her look dumb and annoying but many times her meddling provided us with either funny or romantic scenes, and sometimes both.
