In other shows, the three cases that are the main catalysts of the events, would have been handled in 2-3 episodes…
Yes, I agree. Being patient is well-rewarded in this drama because the pay offs are all very satisfying. The character developments don't feel forced and you end up rooting for the characters as you follow them along in their journey.
I just finished it and I'm in tears. The gut-punch of seeing (in the spoiler tag)... oh my heart.
Stranger as a series is definitely a slow-burner. It takes its time to lay down the pieces of the puzzle one piece at a time before putting them all together for the big picture. It took me until the latter half of the series to really get into it. But once everything has been set in motion it's mind-blowingly satisfying.
I'm rewatching this drama again after more than a decade. It's a drama about a dysfunctional family and it has some messed up scenes (like seriously). With that said, the chemistry between Bai He and Kui was just the best and it was probably the only time I felt a second lead syndrome. It's so unfortunate that they have to be related and I hate how much I enjoyed their scenes together.
Upon rewatching, I'm absolutely impressed by the way scenes were framed in this drama. You could tell they really planned their shots and they really stuck with it. It's a very visually pleasing drama to watch.
I blame Dark for my high standards. Instead of just going along with the story and watching how it develops, I…
Dark is just way, way, way too good. It's excellent in every way. The casting is insane. There was no wasted scene, every single thing adds up to the actual big picture. That series has sooo many characters but goddamn did they plot every story so well. They portrayed incest in that show but in no way was it romanticized. Dark is amazing and more people need to watch it seriously. It's unbelievable how many people are missing out on such a gem.
Alice wouldn't need nitpicking if they actually planned out the whole thing instead of just relying on the usual kdrama tropes under the guise of scifi. I really wanted Alice to be good and it's really disappointing that the story still hasn't picked up when it's more than halfway through. I put it on-hold after ep 4 hoping I could get back to it once it gets better but it doesn't look like it's happening. It's beginning to look like they just had a general idea of what they wanted but had no actual plans of how the story will end up and they are just pretty much winging it as they go.
Nope, this one isn't based on a manga. They would've said they adapted it if they did.
I'm searching for the manga now but I still don't see any similarity aside from what you said. There is a lot of dramas about serial killings and them being being unsolved for years until it happens again.
With that said, the manga Monster sounds really interesting and I'm thinking of reading it now :D

I'm following every news that comes out for this drama since I'm a fan of Yeo Jin Goo. They never mentioned in any of the articles they have released thus far that it's an adaptation. All they have said is the script is written by the scriptwriter of Mad Dog. Normally, when it's an adaptation from a manga or webtoon, they make sure to include it in their press releases.
And yes, the title actually translates to "Monster," but the title in Korean is really in Hangul "괴물 Gwe-mul" instead of "몬스터 Monseuteo."
Do you have a wikipedia link of the manga you're talking about? I'd love to check it out. ^_^
How can a main suspect's house be unguarded just like that? The police are already after Do Hyunsu so why wouldn't…
But the writer even made her be alert enough in her senses even after seeing Baek Heeseong. I really don't understand why the writer had to dumb her down just to achieve that scene. She still had plenty of time after finding out that the intruder was the accomplice and she was still in her senses well enough to warn Eunha before having to actually face him.

She already warned Eun Ha to lock the door and not let anyone in meaning she knew that the sound she heard came from an intruder and didn't mean well for either of them. She was alert enough to warn Eun Ha, it would just be sensible for her to make a call.

I will patiently wait for the third season!

Just went to look and this is the one I found https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monster_(manga)
Reading the manga's plot I don't see anything similar with the drama's premise at all.

Hyunsu: Then this must be paradise.
Eunha: (◕︿◕✿)
