also, we've been already given quite a look into Dong Shik's past which explains his character and personality…
I'm also looking forward to more of Han Joo Won's past. There are hints being shown and I can't wait to finally get into it. HJW seems to be a broken man himself and he's closed himself up to the world.
That scene where he was cleaning himself up and Chief Nam suddenly went in and he dressed up again in a panic - it looked like he was hiding something on his body.
my first Yeo Jin Goo drama and damn both the male leads are killing it!also, the egg scene lmaoooo I need more…
Might I tempt you with another Yeo Jin Goo drama called Circle: Two Connected Worlds? I highly recommend that one if you'd like to see more of him, it's a really good Korean sci-fi but super underrated. There's also The Crowned Clown if you're into historicals and he played dual roles there so that one's a blast too.
While Dong Shik doesn't seem to be the killer, there's something about him doubting me, which the exact same thing…
A lot of people seem to be taking out the111111 part of equation and are focusing on HJW suddenly going to Manyang to investigate a 20 year old case and being eager to pin everything on LDS. The case he is working on is the serial murder of the illegal immigrants and the bait he placed to lure the murderer disappeared after texting him 11111 which is a huge link to LDS. He isn't just randomly obsessing on LDS out of nowhere.
There's still got to be more to it though, as HJW has figured out by the end of Ep 4.
Why did Han Joo Won want to investigate and is so obsessive with that old case?
It's related to the case that Han Joo Won's been investigating in the foreign affairs division due to the similar MO. When he was investigating the case, he told his bait to text him the number 1 as soon as she sees Lee Dong Shik, and on the day that she disappears, she just texts him 1111111111111. It's no wonder he was positive LDS is the culprit.
Of course he's always had his suspicions with Lee Dong Shik, and I see it as being part of his past in Manyang. We're not told yet of his full motivations and actual backstory. I'm sure there's more to it.
Ep 4 shows HJW coming around and realizing it's not LDS.
Park Jung Je sus levels keeps going higher and higher every episode. He has volunteered himself as LDS's alibi…
I just wanna add that I love how complex and layered the characters are in this drama. Not just the leads but the supporting ones too. It's such a joy watching a drama with morally grey individuals, instead of just flat and basic caricatures.
Park Jung Je sus levels keeps going higher and higher every episode. He has volunteered himself as LDS's alibi 20 years ago and now. It looks like he's not doing it for LDS's sake but his own. Seems to be he's the one who needs to have LDS as his own alibi.
When he asked LDS if he trusts him, LDS just smiled at him. Even LDS who supposedly benefited from what PJJ did doesn't seem to trust PJJ
HJW had that egg throw scene coming at him but it's good to finally see him coming around bit by bit. I am also looking forward to more scenes of HJW and Jae Yi together. That part where HJW was going to take off his shirt and he panicked when Chief Nam entered unannounced, I don't think it's just because he was being shy or anything but it looked like he was hiding something.
I like that scene where Oh Ji Hoon talks to him and you can see there's more to OJH than the innocent rookie he's showing up to everyone else.
HJW blowing up the serial murder case out in the open is what LDS has been waiting for and now these two nutcases are finally gonna work together to solve the mystery.
I'm so thrilled with how this show keeps on delivering. Characters continue to be very intriguing and every scene…
Lee Dongshik's laughter must've been Han Joowon's delusion. It's slowly coming into the surface that HJW isn't exactly mentally healthy.
I love the play between our lead characters. Lee Dongshik always appears to be emotional and reckless but is actually the one who is rational, while Han Joowon is the one who seems to be rational and calm but is actually emotional and reckless. I don't know where are we going as of the moment but LDS is totally playing HJW at the moment. LDS must've set everything up to find who the real killer is and he is partly using HJW's reckless behavior to achieve his goal.
Hands up to our lead characters who are doing a phenomenal job. Shin Ha Kyun gets to freely show us his wide range as Lee Dong Shik and he is fantastic in every single scene he's in. The evidences are against him at the moment but SHK manages to capture the audience's sympathy as he perfectly shows us the wounds Lee Dong Shik has endured over the years. On the other hand, Yeo Jin Goo absolutely nails the nuances of Han Joo Won's character. He is a character who is desperate to hide his emotions in front of everyone and act like he is on top of everything, but at the same time, beneath his cold demeanor, you can see flashes of his emotions that show his actual inner turmoil. It's something very tricky to balance but YJG's just giving it the perfect amount of subtlety.
Every episode is brilliant. The music is on point. The script is absolutely intriguing. The directing is masterful. I love this drama!
Slow and boring!? Is everyone in here like 14 or something? This is so damn good so far, pure quality entertainment.…
Probably just not everyone's cup of tea just like how some people can't stand romcom or horror or melodrama. As for me I totally enjoyed the subtle tone, nuances and intrigue from the premiere week. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time and losing my mind at how every single character is being suspicious. I can already tell we are going into a deep dive into the characters themselves not just the story alone and it's going to be one hell of a ride.
I adore this drama but I couldn't finish the novel.. for me, it's extremely incoherent the ML that comes from…
I read until 116th chapter or something then I finally gave up. I just couldn't stand the ML in the novel. He is nowhere near the Fan Xian I adored and cheered for in the drama. Fan Xian in the novel is so vain and annoying and just keeps saying the same thing over and over again.
Btw why it's 18+? because I watched quite a few detective shows and most of them were 15+ except one - The Guest-…
I think it's because of the severed fingers and the corpse having chopped off fingers. I was honestly looking forward to something more brutal when I heard of the rating, but it is what it is. I'm just glad the story's really good so far.
I'm on the 10% it was on my ptw bc of shin ha kyun
I came for Yeo Jin Goo but my hype went all the way to the moon when I heard he was being cast with Shin Ha Kyun. I'm sooo happy Yeo Jin Goo finally gets to act with him. And it's such a glorious moment finally seeing the two of them on-screen together with their masterclass acting.
I still think it's not him, I mean why will they give away that he is the murderer in the 2nd episode itself.....I…
Please put your reply in a spoiler in consideration of others who haven't seen the episode yet.
I really wish it isn't a red herring, but I'm sure there's so much more to it than him being the killer if he ever really is the killer. Everyone in Manyang is acting suspicious AF. I can't wait to learn more as the story goes on.
The director did describe this series having the retro sentiments similar to Memories of Murder.
When I first heard of this series being set in a remote village, I kept wishing it would have a similar tone like MoM as I really liked that movie a lot.
